Re: [JAWS-Users] right clicking on a link
Also, ensure that the relevant window is maximized before you right-click. I've sometimes found that the JAWS right-mouse key opens the 'correct' menu then only . A reason for it not working when you arrow etc, could be that the virtual cursor is not placed exactly where it could right-click on the element. -Original Message- From: Pinky Sent: Tuesday, August 11, 2015 8:42 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] right clicking on a link Hi Mike, Thanks for this info. [JAWS-Users] windows ten and ITunes fix
FYI*from another list* I have found an answer for an issue I had with the Windows 10 upgrade and iTunes not detecting my iPhone. I have read a lot of posts that say Apple Doesn't Support Windows 10 which might be true but let's fix it so we don't have to wait until Apple has a proper fix. Let's get started and get you back up and going! 1. Plug in iDevice into Windows 10 computer 2. Press the windows key (also called start button), or click in to the start menu's search edit field. 3. Type /Device without quotes into this edit field. 4. go to the Settings Devices and Printers 5. Arrow all the way down and it should show Unspecified Device 6. Now press the application key (right click) and press the letter r to open properties or click on this option. 7. Go to Hardware tab and then to Properties 8. Click Change Settings and go to Drivers tab and select Update Driver. 9. Select Browse my computer for driver software and input the correct line for your system as shown below. 64bit systems C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers 32bit systems C:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers 10. Re: [JAWS-Users] question about exporting contacts to outlook?
Dacia, I don't know if this will help or not. Sunday, a computer guy came to export my addresses from Outlook Express to Outlook, which no longer can be done. So, he clicked on the net and imported them to Business card, on this Windows 10 computer and then into Outlook. The only thing that I lost were several distribution lists. Right now, I don't know the steps I need to follow to reconstruct them. Re: [JAWS-Users] right clicking on a link
Hi, What is the hot key for the virtual cursor? Thanks in advance Ed -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Flor Lynch Sent: Tuesday, August 11, 2015 4:32 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] right clicking on a link Also, ensure that the relevant window is maximized before you right-click. This worked using your method. I wonder why using the right click key on the numb pad does not bring up the correct menu? I tried using the header key (H) but when I tried the application key that did not work either. It only workds when you tab to the link then hit the application key that you get the correct menu to click on open in new tab. Thanks for your help. Re: [JAWS-Users] stop the clickable
Mike, I accidentally deleted your response before I could respond, so... how to make JAWS ignore only the announcement of clickable without affecting the other elements is to: browse to a website that has occurrences of clickable. start settings center. find and expand find speech and sounds schemes. down arrow to and activate modify schemes. control+tab to html tab. tab and down arrow to onclick speak. tab and down arrow to ignore. tab to and activate ok. at this point, the modified scheme needs to be saved and chosen to when the browser is used. [JAWS-Users] my experience with Windows 10
i upgraded my Windows 7 pro computer to Windows 10 pro not from my windows update, i used the media creation tool. i think you can find the tool by searching for windows 10 free upgrade or something. when running the tool i selected upgrade this PC. the start of the upgrade can be run with jaws speech. it'll first say downloading windows 10. the progress bar can not be announced by jaws unless you press alt+tab to jaws to windows 10 upgrade. but i'm not sure if you should do that too many times. when the download is complete jaws will announce it. then jaws will say checking your computer. after the computer check, jaws will announce gathering necessary updates. after that jaws will announce choose what to keep. you'll have three options: keep personal files and apps, just keep files, or keep nothing. i chose the first one because i think if you don't keep apps jaws might be deleted. *note* before starting this process make sure you disable antivirus and disconnect printer and other devices you can keep speakers and the mouse connected if you don't you might get upgrade failed or jaws will announce there was a problem. when the upgrade begins jaws will be silent let the upgrade proceed, i let it go over night and when i checked in the morning my computer had turned off. when you turn the computer back on you'll be presented with the customize your computer, the same as when you bought a new computer. jaws won't be active i'm not sure if windows narrator can work. i just got sighted help to perform this task. after that's complete your computer will have windows 10 when jaws starts if activation was lost just go into update activation if you get any other jaws errors run the jaws update Download the JAWS® screen reading software version 16.0 update to your downloads folder from one of the links below: • JAWS 16.0.4350 64-bit English - May 2015 ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/WebFiles/JAWS/J16.0.4350ENU-x64.exe • JAWS 16.0.4350 32-bit English - May 2015 ftp://ftp.freedomscientific.com/users/hj/private/WebFiles/JAWS/J16.0.4350ENU-x86.exe you want to save the download Once the update is in your downloads folder run it you should get the options modify, repair or remove. choose repair! after the repair is done all should be fine with jaws. i'm just using windows 10 for the basic operating system and none of the new features. jaws works fine no problem with that. windows 10 renamed the computer folder this PC i did notice that when after upgrade my internet explorer did not work, so i just deleted it and installed firefox. i use windows live mail for email and it works fine. here are some tips i found: in windows 10 press win+I to go to settings (control panels) to shut down/restart the computer select the desktop using alt+tab or right mouse click on a blank space on the desktop then press alt+F4 a window popsup with the options shut down, hibernate, sleep, restart or log off select one then press enter the windows 10 search field is Cortana press win key and til Cortana is announced then type your search criteria followed by enter to get disc defrag type it in Cortana press enter to get windows update type it in Cortana press enter to use notepad type it in Cortana then press enter to get programs and features type it in Cortana then press enter *** you can get most of what you want by typing it into Cortana when Cortana is announced jaws won't announce type in text, but the typing field is ready to accept text so just type after hearing Cortana ** (note not necessary if you already have a screen reader) press win key+enter to toggle windows narrator on/off ** Email is golden!!!
