Re: [JAWS-Users] Weather No Longer Working on Research It

2016-02-18 Thread Kurt Miller
John,

Research it is where you can look up different items in the categories
available on their list. To use it, press your JAWS command key followed
quickly with the space bar and you should hear a little click, after the
click press the letter r for research it. To get your weather, type in your
zip code then press the tab key and then there is a list of the categories
available to you, now press the letter w for weather and it will bring up
your local weather.
When you do the JAWS space bar this puts you into what is called the layered
keystrokes. After you bring up the research it and press tab you can arrow
up and down to see what all is available to you.
Have fun playing with this.

[JAWS-Users] Getting Jaws to switch language or voice profile within a spreadsheet or table columns

2016-02-18 Thread Cristóbal
Hello list,

I’m going to guess that this can’t be done, but perhaps a knowledgeable Jaws
user can enlighten me.

I with Jaws would like to be able to have the synthesizer switch between
different voice profiles when navigating between columns either in an Excel
spreadsheet or a table in a Word document. In my case, for language learning
purposes. Similar to a flashcard system.

Jaws has gotten better over the years with multilingual support, but even
with the most recent update with the CTL+Win-Key+L command, it’s still not
terribly efficient. More so in a circumstance such as this. There are iOS
flashcard apps that do work quite nicely with Voiceover, but I don’t always
want to work off of my phone.

Can one by any chance mark a region in a spreadsheet or table, be it a
column or row and associate that area to a voice/language profile in jaws
for a more fluid experience. I am studying to obtain federal court certified
Spanish language certification and need to work on terminology and
vocabulary. I guess the same situation could be applied to any learning
circumstance where one wishes to use a flashcard type of format, but anyway…
I’d like to simply be able with the arrow keys go back and forth among the
columns and have Jaws provide me with the proper pronunciation instead of
English or Spanish for both terms.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Cristobal

actually, you don't need to sign out of skype, this means each time yu
access skype yu need to type in yur username and password.

once you have skype signed in,
while its running on the taskbar,
press applications on skype,
you should see,
sign out, quit skype, skype, pinn this program to taskbar, close window.
so if you use quit skype, the program should close, note, you can also do
this from the system tray.

once you enter on the quit skype, there's a message come up, just choose
don't show this or something like that.

Re: [JAWS-Users] sskype out of alt tab order

2016-02-18 Thread valiant8086

Hi.

Is this skype for desktop?

If so focus that skype window, hit ctrl+comma. Wait about an hour for
the options screen to open. When it does, in the tree view you land on,
hit the end key so you start at the bottom since its closer, up arrow
from there looking for advanced settings. For me 4 presses is right. Tab
into that 3 times looking for "keep Skype in the Taskbar while I'm
Signed In". Uncheck that and hit enter.

That should make it so alt+f4 works. You can also close Skype
completely, find it in the system tray, hit the context key on it and
choose quit. Tell it that you really do want to do it and that's done.
It'll come back on reboot if it is set to.
