Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 18 updates available

2016-12-08 Thread patti
Thanks Brian,
It worked.
Patti
Hi Patti,

I just recompiled my SkypeWatch script and JAWS is announcing when someone
comes on line. Try the following to see if it works for you:

When focus is in Skype use insert with 0 to open the Skype.JSS file.

Go under the File menu and press enter key on the Open Shared Script menu
item.

Type SkypeWatch (one word) into the edit box and oppress enter key. This
opens the SkypeWatch.JSS file.

Press CTRL with S to recompile the script.

You should then be able to use Alt F4 and hopefully things will work right.
The default.JSS in the shared scripts might also need the line

"Use SkypeWatch.jsb"

But I checked the default.JSS file and the line is already included.

This worked for me. If it doesn't work for you then hopefully someone else
on the list can help.

Take care.

fine with JAWS 15 and 16 (no delay in the find function), and JAWS 17 and 18

from 17 onward. They made a significant change to JAWS in that version, as
we all recall, since we were no longer able to merge from JAWS 16 to JAWS 17

Re: [JAWS-Users] speaking of IE

2016-12-08 Thread Shai
Hello Bill,
Since your email came in with the speaking of IE subject, I assume
that you are attempting to port your Internet addresses ie bookmarks
from Internet Explorer on your older machine to Internet Explorer on
your new laptop.
To do this, first make sure that you have a USB flash drive connected
and go to the run dialog by holding down Windows key and r. Next, type
favorites into the box and press enter. You will now be in your
favorites folder. Backspace once and your list of folders will display
with the favorites folder highlighted. Press ctrl c to copy this
folder.
On your new laptop: 1. do the same as before only this time paste
(ctrl v) the folder into this list of folders. It should ask you are
you sure you want to replace this folder hit yes and your addresses or
bookmarks should be imported.
Like Mike said earlier it would help if you gave more specifics, but I
am thinking that this is what you would like to do since your email is
prefixed with this subject.
Hope this helps

2016-12-08 Thread Merv Keck
If you are using Windows 10, try selecting Windows + Tab. Then arrow left or
right until you hear Jaws say User Account Control and select enter.
Sometimes during an installation the UAC gets pushed behind after it is
initiated and you need to bring it forward again. At least that has been my
experience.
Once the User Account Control is in focus again you can tab to yes or select
Alt + Y and continue.

Hope that helps.

Hi Jim,

I just had this problem. Chec and see what level User Account Control in
Control Panel is set at. If it is at 33%, increase it to 66%. That fixed it
for me. Alternatively, you can temporarily put it at 0% while you install
the program, and then put it back at the level you want. Not recommended,
though. Also, when in the window that seems to be blank. try pressing Alt-Y
and enter. That might work, but it's ot the fix of reading the window.

Hi Tim,

Here you go:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings

Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

If you're having problems with Firefox, refreshing it can help. The refresh
feature fixes many issues by restoring Firefox to its default state while
saving
your essential information like bookmarks, passwords, and open tabs.
Note:
Extensions
 and extension data are removed.

your imported information. Click Finish and Firefox will open.

Note: There's also a Refresh Firefox button in the
Firefox Safe Mode
window, if you can't start Firefox normally. If you are unable to find the
Refresh Firefox button on your version of Firefox, you can also do a manual
refresh by creating a new profile. See
instructions on how to create a new profile.

What does the refresh feature do?

All of your Firefox settings and personal information are stored in a
profile folder.
The refresh feature works by creating a new profile folder for you while
saving your important data.

Add-ons which are normally stored inside the Firefox profile folder, such as
extensions
 and
themes,
will be removed. Add-ons stored in other locations, such as
plugins,
will not be removed but any modified preferences (such as plugins you have
disabled) will be reset.

Firefox will save these items:

. Browsing and download history

Note: Your old Firefox profile will be placed on your desktop in a folder
named "Old Firefox Data". If the refresh didn't fix your problem you can
restore
some of the information not saved by
copying files to the new profile that was created.
If you don't need this folder any longer, you should delete it as it
contains sensitive information.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 18 and internet explorer 11 problem

2016-12-08 Thread Gene Warner
Although I'm not using Windows 10, I'm using a 32 bit Windows 7 Home
Premium, I've also noticed that the JAWS find is real slow coming up in
IE 11, but haven't had any crashing or reloading problems.

Cheers!

Hello list
Since the latest upgrade of jaws 18 it crashes 9 out of ten times when I
open ie11 on my windows10 pc. Then I must wait until it restarts. I find it
to be less responsive in firefox. Do other listers also encounter this?

2016-12-08 Thread Shai
Hello,
I am running the latest JAWS 18 update on a Windows10 pc and I am not
having any issues with Internet Explorer11 reloading. I just installed
Firefox on here a few weeks ago with the latest version 50 update
applied and have not had issues with this browser yet. I would attempt
to delete your temporary Internet files and cookies in both browsers
to see if the issue is resolved. I would also make sure that the home
pages that you start to do not contain many ads and that you do not
have many which are opening at one time.

Hello Mike:

You are good! I couldn't find POP3 at all. The Outlook 2013 settings work
on Outlook 2016 as well, I already configured it for POP3, thanks.

Hello Mike:

I use Outlook 2016 and I was able to configure it using IMAP, but I prefer
POP3 and could not connect with POP3, I would need the POP3 server and port,
I guess, if thay allow it, that is.

Thanks, all the best,

Humberto
