Hi Rebecca!

JAWS should already be set to read the entire message to you when you
open it. However, if you interrupt it or just want to have it read the
message again:

1. Press control+home to go to the beginning of the message.
2. Press the JAWS key + down arrow, in desktop layout this is
Insert+down arrow. This is the say all command and tells JAWS to read
from where ever the cursor is to the end.

about Jaws and Thunderbird. Is there a keystroke that will read the
whole message after you open it? Otherwise I'm doing well with it and
really can't complain.

Re: [JAWS-Users] speaking of IE

2016-12-09 Thread Mike B.
Hi Bill,

If both computers are both Widows 10 computers, don't take my answer with
100% surity since I don't run Widows 10, but in past Windows systems you
could simply highlight /select the whole Favorites folder from the old
computer, press, control + C, to copy it, & paste the whole Favorites folder
to a flashdrive, then plug the flashdrive into the new computer, copy / cut
the Favorites folder from the flashdrive, & paste it to the appropriate User
folder
on the OS drive.

Take care.

Hi Mike,
sorry about that, I'm speaking about windows 10 here, and while I've
found the folder for favorites using the previous message, I'm not
completely sure if I simply just go in to the folder and highlight all
and copy what's there, and then just put that in the other folder on
the laptop computer?
thanks,

Re: [JAWS-Users] Are there any recommended settings in file explorer in W10?

2016-12-09 Thread TheHangMan
Jim,
Try to run jaws from the system tray, instead than from the desktop (Jaws
option menu).

Waite, there was an update to windows 10 today and Tuesday there is going to
be another one.

Check your MSCONFIG on what is starting at start up, I admit is a little
more confusing and different than on wind 7.
It's very important to shut down the PC at night correctly, when you shut
down,
Because Windows 10 snaps an image of your system at the time that was
running, so when you start up it should be faster

I experience that here to sometimes, but as long as it comes on, I don't
worry...
Press windows key and tab across to the navigation drop down list and Arrow
down to power-enter and arrow to shut down-enter, there are other options as
restart sleep.

Or,I would be calling the jaws voodoo doctor Mike B.
The doctor has a potion for every jaws sickness in his bag of potions

Whatever version of jaws you are using,
Download latest Jaws to your down load folder that you are using, Delete out

Start your narrator and go to your download folder and re-install Jaws

For some reason the anniversary and jaws works great, after this.

Hi

Wow! Now there's a word from the past! My dad used and like Eudora until
they went belly up, or open source. Then he switched to web mail with
gmail as I did, until I lost my vision. I still use gmail, but with
Thunderbird. Once I changed two settings in the advanced settings

isn't perfect, but it is far better than anything else I've looked at.

Gene has already explained what cross posting is, and in your case who has
never done such a thing don't worry about it. The rule of thumb is simply if
you see your own messages make it to the list then you are not guilty.

I would also like to add on to what Rick has stated that this is becoming
very tiresome to me, so much so that the parties in question will be removed
if they continue their cross posting practices.

The fact is no matter who would try and cross post a message it would get
held for approval.

That means who ever of the three of us gets to it first has to open and read
the message from Mailman as to why the message is being moderated. Then the
next step is to approve or deny it. This takes some time especially when a
person sends out four or five messages all cross posted.

I read every message that comes across this list and some days that gets to
be quite a task, but it is important to make sure things are going as they
should. I don't mind that, it's just this extra work of always having to
kick messages is got to stop.

Crossposting is sending a message to multiple lists at the same time. An
example would be if I sent this email to the jaws-users, jaws-scripting,
and screen-reader-users lists at the same time by putting all their
addresses in the to field, or putting two of the addresses in the cc field.

If you want to crosspost, fine, just do it by sending a separate email
to each list.

Note that some of the lists in my example are fictional.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Posting to this List

2016-12-09 Thread Gene Warner
Crossposting is sending a message to multiple lists at the same time. An
example would be if I sent this email to the jaws-users, jaws-scripting,
and screen-reader-users lists at the same time by putting all their
addresses in the to field, or putting two of the addresses in the cc field.

If you want to crosspost, fine, just do it by sending a separate email
to each list.

Note that some of the lists in my example are fictional.

Cheers!

Hi

I too have JAWS 15 and later, as I lost my vision to glaucoma in 2012
and was declared legally blind in 2013, soon after that I bought JAWS 15
and have maintained an SMA ever since.

After reading your message about JAWS 15 and 16 versus JAWS 17 and 18, I
realized the problems I've been struggling with between JAWS and IE11
that Freedom Scientific doesn't appear to know how to solve, started
with JAWS 17. Since I can't think of any new features introduced in 17
and 18 that are must haves, I wonder if I might be better off just going
back to JAWS 16.

Any thoughts?

Cheers!

Hi Zoe!

You might want to take a look at this, it is a program called Brush Tone
that's supposed to be an accessible paint program for the visually
impaired. I myself have never used it so I can't comment on how
effective it is, I ran across it on an internet forum I used to frequent
and saved it for future reference.
