Re: [JAWS-Users] How to get Jaws to stop announcing blank when arrowing down?

2017-03-30 Thread Mike B.
Hi Mr. Ed,

Try the following:
If you want nothing said instead of blank in all applications try the
following:

1. Open the Settings Center, press, control, shift, + D, to open Settings
Center default all applications.
2. Arrow down to, punctuation closed..., right arrow to open, down arrow to,
customize punctuation, & press the spacebar to open. Make sure you
press the spacebar to open & not enter. Pressing enter will close the
Settings Center.
3. Tab to the Advanced button & press spacebar to open. The first item in
the list will be, blank, so tab 1 time to, edit description button, &
press the spacebar to open. The word, blank, will be in this edit field.
Delete the word, blank, put a space with the spacebar, & press enter.
4. Tab to okay, press the spacebar, tab to okay, press the spacebar, tab to
apply, press the spacebar, tab to okay, press the spacebar to save your
changes & close the Settings Center.

If you don't want this in all applications, open the desired applications
individually & use the above steps in each application. HTH

Take care.

Hi All,

How do you get Jaws to stop announcing blank when you arrow down a document
or an email? I know you can stop Jaws from announcing blank when you press
the spacebar with the labels key setting in Jaws quick settings. But I don't
want to stop it from announcing when I use the space bar but only when
arrowing down a document or email. Is the possible to do?

But if that is the only way to stop Jaws from announcing blank I would than
go and turn it off when pressing the spacebar if that stops it from
announcing blank when arrowing down a document or email.

Thank for any help on this matter.

Mr. Ed

Gerald,

I live in Nassau County and I get the forecast for, supposedly, Westbury,
New York. You're getting it for New York City. The website isn't working
correctly and it seems to vary, somewhat, according to specific location.

That's interesting. I just visited the Weather Wunderground page but only

You live in the New York metro area, right? So how come you get the ten day
forecast and I don't?

I had no problem last night with the Braille version of the website, but
today, when a storm watch was posted, it only gave today's weather and the

No forecast at all for today, just a fire warning that is repeated twice and

temperature for yesterday, high/and low for date and sunrise/sunset, but I

[JAWS-Users] different first page word2016 with JAWS18

2017-03-30 Thread Shai
Hello,
I am attempting to have a different first page in my document where
page 2 will be page 1 etc. with Jaws18 and Word2016. How do I go about
doing this? I tried the steps in the article from Microsoft for
inserting a page number and then I pressed alt q to search for
different first page and pressed enter but it seems that after I
selected different first page, and then used my up and down arrow
keys, JAWS still read the same page 2. Also, is utilizing my up and
down arrow keys the best means of confirming this information? How can
I confirm that the page number is right aligned at the top edge? I saw
some information that alt delete should be able to give me this
information?
Thank you in advance for any responses

Verizon now owns both AOL and Yahoo. So, look for more changes as they "get
their monies worth" out of those 2 "used to be" companies.

radio buttons but when I use my arrow keys to go through them to see what
the choices are the arrow keys do not move they just stay on the first radio
button.

so could someone please explain how to use Flexible web?

I am trying to get it to turn off those annoying adds that are on some web
pages when I am trying to read something.

thanks in advance

This is what a Verizon.net user was told by email. Verizon.net will no longer
be used for email. To keep your Verizon.net email address, you'll need to
switch to AOL. Curiously, Verizon doesn't mention in its notification that AOL

Re: [JAWS-Users] question regarding Verizon email service

2017-03-30 Thread Melissa Hambleton
I just spoke with a lady from Verizon since I have phone and internet from
them.

She did say that Verizon will no longer be handling email and that AOL will
be doing so. She said it was an automatic change and I didn't need to change
my email address so I could keep nightfur...@verizon.net.

I asked if I could still send from this email address and also receive
emails from others if they use that email address and she said yes.

She asked me if I received an email from Verizon stating the changes and I
said no. She said they are sending them out to everyone so I should
eventually get one.

She also said if I sign into the webmail that a pop-up should come up and I
would need to fill out a form to make the changes. I went to my webmail and
no pop-up and I searched the page for something to click on to make changes
but there was nothing at all so I'm not sure what to do but wait for an
email because I think there are to be steps to do in the email to make
changes.

I'm not sure if it is automatic why to fill out a form and also I'm
receiving emails from companies I subscribe to stating if you are a Verizon
email user to change your email address because if automatic why change?

Oh and she said if you use Verizon internet but change your email to a gmail
account and I think yahoo, she said you could lose emails.

You can open your messages from Gmail in other mail clients that support
POP, like Microsoft Outlook.

Step 1: Make sure POP is the best way to read your emails

IMAP and POP are both ways to read your Gmail messages in other email
clients.

IMAP can be used across multiple devices. Emails are synced in real time.

POP can only be used for a single computer. Emails aren't synced in real
time. Instead, they're downloaded and you decide how often you want to
download
new emails.

Step 2: Set up POP
First, set up POP in Gmail

POP for mail that arrives from now on.

Whoa!! Verizon never makes unsolicited calls to their customers, as far as
I know. I have been a customer of Verizon and its various predecessors for
all of my 67 years and have never received an unsolicited call from them. .
Are you sure the call you received wasn't from a scammer?

If this Jaws feature is using Weather Wonderground, fixing Research It

work because there's something drastically wrong with Weather

For the past two days, it's only given today's weather and today, it gave

This is what a Verizon.net user was told by email. Verizon.net will no longer
be used for email. To keep your Verizon.net email address, you'll need to
switch to AOL. Curiously, Verizon doesn't mention in its notification that AOL
is now owned by Verizon. Otherwise, they tell customers to create a Gmail or
other account.

Wunderground needs to have someone seriously fix the website in my opinion.

No forecast at all for today, just a fire warning that is repeated twice and

would like the forecast back also.

Is FS aware that the weather in Research It is not working?

Anyway to contact Weather wonderground aside from the webpage? I have only
today's forecast and a bunch of stuff about fire warning that does not
really apply to my area.

Yesterday I managed to get a full forecast but today only today's.

Today the Weather Wonderground page worked fine for me except for the date
at the top. But that has been wrong for about two years.

I had no problem last night with the Braille version of the website, but
today, when a storm watch was posted, it only gave today's weather and the
alert. Does the alert mess up the page? I have never used this page before,
so I'm not sure.

I am getting questions from folks on Verizon about them changing something
or doing away with their email servicing for private customers. I am not on
that system so I have no personal information on this matter. If anybody out
there does please let me know what if anything is going to change along with
what the average person needs to do in order to continue receiving email.

[JAWS-Users] How to get Jaws to stop announcing blank when arrowing down?

2017-03-30 Thread Mr. Ed

Mr. Ed

Probably flexible web will let Jaws avoid reading those ads.

Good morning to all;

Does anyone have a list of keystrokes, and user tips to work with 2016 power

A client of mine has a few power point files she would like to read.
Obviously, she just needs to access the text within the slides.

Thank you, have a good day.

I believe you need to press Enter while on the cell you want to edit.
I need to try Jaws commands for setting column and row titles for Excel to
see if they work.
Move to where the column and row titles start. Press CTRL, ALT, Jaws key C
for column titles and CTRL, ALT, Jaws key,R for row titles.
Again I head this working once but I need to go back and try it again.

If this Jaws feature is using Weather Wonderground, fixing Research It
won't
work because there's something drastically wrong with Weather
Wonderground.

For the past two days, it's only given today's weather and today, it gave
the wrong date for today. What we need is a new and improved weather
website.
