Hi Mr. Ed, If you open the Settings Center while in an application, it'll open in the Settings Center for this program specifically. If you're anywhere else on the computer, let's say, Documents, Windows Explorer, Control Panel etc. it will open the Explorer Settings Center. Registry has it's own Settings Center page as well. And of course, you can get into the Settings Center Default All Applications by pressing, control, shift, + D, from any Settings Center page / window, or by getting there the way you did, / the way Jim suggested. [JAWS-Users] program issue
I'm trying to get rid of a program called ByteFence. I'm not sure how it got installed but I think it might have something to do with an installation of another program called Chromium browser. I also don't know how even the Chromium browser got downloaded and installed either. However, I uninstalled Chromium browser successfully but the ByteFence message keeps coming up on the desktop with the following information. I reviewed msconfig to see if it was in programs that started on PC at boot up but its unchecked. I ran vipre antivirus but that didn't remove the unwanted program message. Any ideas how to resolve the issue with this program? Please see the below screen shot. Thanks. Re: [JAWS-Users] How to get Jaws to stop announcing blank when arrowing down?
Hi Mike, you can also get to settings center, if you run Jaws from the system tray. Insert+J, Down arrow one time to the Utilities sub menu, right arrow one time, Down arrow to settings center, press Enter. If you do it this way, the default page is already selected. No need of pressing Control+Shift+D, for default. Smiles. Your humble pinhead! Owner of the W-10 and Jaws Yahoo group! Hi All, How do you get Jaws to stop announcing blank when you arrow down a document or an email? I know you can stop Jaws from announcing blank when you press the spacebar with the labels key setting in Jaws quick settings. But I don't want to stop it from announcing when I use the space bar but only when arrowing down a document or email. Is the possible to do? But if that is the only way to stop Jaws from announcing blank I would than go and turn it off when pressing the spacebar if that stops it from announcing blank when arrowing down a document or email. So for now, I am using Weather.com to get the then day forecast for New York City. If you want an alternative to Weather Underground for ten day forecasts, just google something like “ten day forecast for 12345” (where 12345 is your zip code) and see what results are returned and use the one that is most accessible. Re: [JAWS-Users] copy pages in a word document
Hi Claudette, See if this will help you: From: Marquette, Ed In fact, the Windows key is employed with a number of fantastic JAWS keystrokes. One which I have come to use on an hourly basis is control plus windows plus k to mark a spot in a word document. One may later jump back to that spot instantly with just windows plus k; however, even more cool is the ability, in Word, to mark text from your cursor to the marked spot, and it doesn't matter whether, in the document, your cursor is ahead of the marked spot or behind it or whether it is 4 words or 40 pages away. You mark text back to the marked spot with JAWS key plus space bar and then m. Then, you can use control c to copy or control x to cut or windows c to append. Try it! You'll like it! Ed Take care. Re: [JAWS-Users] The Mail app, your best friend
Do you have the Carrot turned on? Right now as far as I have noticed, you need to have the Carrot turned on for each of your accounts. Yes, A few days ago, I did notice the mail app acting differently. So I did take the time to remove my accounts and set them up again. I checked to make sure I had the latest updates for the mail app. Yes, I hope that VFO, will take some time to improve the mail app with Jaws. Right now I use it mainly for test purposes for those who do use the mail app a lot. I do follow one of my slow email accounts using the mail app. Sorry about any confusion about saying it works fine for everyone. No, I have not tried this, Adrian. Will definitely do so if the problem occurs again. The Jaws crashing problem here occurs very unpredictably, but now, I at least have another tool in my toolbox to deal with it. Thanks! [JAWS-Users] Weather Underground Still Not Working
I just checked the Braille pages for Weather Underground for New York City, Westbury, NY, Chicago, and Los Angeles, and in each case, only the current weather conditions and special weather statements are displayed, with no current day or ten day forecasts. So for now, I am using Weather.com to get the then day forecast for New York City. If you want an alternative to Weather Underground for ten day forecasts, just google something like “ten day forecast for 12345” (where 12345 is your zip code) and see what results are returned and use the one that is most accessible.
