I somehow turned on a feature of JAWS whereby everytime I alt-tab to a new
Window JAWS says "selected." plus whatever application I'm in. I find this
annoying. I went into Configure verbosity levels and Advanced settings and
unchecked "say select" and "selected item" but JAWS still says Select.
Anybody got a clue what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.

2017-06-07 Thread Adrian Spratt
Jorge,
I should have added it to the list. I was just trying to summarize a wandering
thread. But remember, quick navigation doesn't give you a list, just enables
you to jump from item to item. JAWS key+F7 brings up a list of links from which
you can choose without going through the whole document.

[JAWS-Users] Google chrome problem

2017-06-07 Thread Lenny McHugh
Using the latest version of jaws. trying to read my local paper I now am
having another problem. The address for the paper is
http://republicanherald.com/ .

With I.E. I have no problem logging in. With chrome I can not.Near the top
of the page is a subscribe link then a sign in link. With I.e. the sign in
brings up a page where I can enter my email and password. With chrome this
page does not come up so that jaws can read it. If my wife clicks on the
link near the top of the page is the log in area. I can not locate this with
jaws. I did not notice this before because you are allowed 5 articles a
month free. I do not read every local article and you do not need to sign
in for national or AP news. I was really starting to like chrome until
today.

Hello, Folks,

I am going to attach the document to see what you all experience. I was
hoping to open the document, but I am presented with a toolbar with no text.
Even though the toolbar has a download button it, when opening the download,
am still presented with the same toolbar.

Thanks for any advice you can give me on this.

Very true. I prefer the mobileversion myself, but it makes mewonder what

in perspective, since 100% of the siteswill not always work with any
browser.

Thanks very much.

find what IE shows as link, chrome shows as button.
You are correct, no events button I see there.

I think that I may have found the problem with the character echo. It
appears that when you set the keyboard labeler to mute on the all letters
setting it causes the characters not to speak.

Re: [JAWS-Users] How to remove "clickable" from Firefox web pages

2017-06-07 Thread Mike B.
Hi Jim,

Below are 2 ways of doing this:

From: Carlos via BlindTech
In
"Settings Center"
under the
"Web / HTML / PDFs"
category, there is a subcategory labeled
"Miscellaneous"
Under
"Miscellaneous"
there is a setting labeled
"Indicate Element Attribute"
Unchecking this setting will stop Jaws from saying
"Clickable"
Although I would not recommend this since there are times when you will miss
out on elements of webpages that may be useful and are clickable.
Carlos

how to make JAWS ignore only the announcement of "clickable" without
affecting the other elements is to:

browse to a website that has occurrences of "clickable".
start settings center.
find and expand, speech and sounds schemes.
down arrow to and activate modify schemes.
Tab to, Edit scheme, & press the spacebar.
control+tab to html tab.
tab and down arrow to on click speak.
tab and down arrow to ignore.
tab to and activate ok.
at this point, the modified scheme needs to be saved and chosen to when
the browser is used.

Control tab once, then tab over to the list of items in that dialog. Down
