Re: [JAWS-Users] Schwab website

2017-11-27 Thread Adrian Spratt
Thanks. Please see my response to fellow lister George Martinez. Meanwhile,
I'll make note of this contact. It's striking how many Schwab people are
assigned to this work. I've had direct contact with three over the years, and
now I know of five. Yet they really blew it last Wednesday.

Try reaching out to him directly. Please let me know how it goes, tonight I'll
try accessing an old account I have there too and we can compare notes.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Schwab website

2017-11-27 Thread Adrian Spratt
George,
No need to apologize, and thanks for following up. Your point 2 may well have
some bearing. I've been out for most of the afternoon (U.S. East Coast time),
but a Schwab rep just called and listened carefully to my points. I'm confident
he not only understood what I was saying, but also that he was looking at the
pages in question and seeing the problems for himself. So a step forward.
Meanwhile, I did figure out some workarounds that make the website usable
again, though I'm getting none of the benefit of the new features. If anyone is
interested in these workarounds, I'd be happy to post them.
Adrian

Hi Adrian,
Sorry for my delay in getting back to you. I did talk to my son and because I
do not really understand his answer I did not have anything clear to tell you.
Basically, what you are seeing is the result of two things: 1. A mandate to
make their web site more accessible and 2. A new format to integrate another
trading company Schwab purchased 7-8 years ago. He told me they have some of
the new pages up but all will not will be up until January. That seems to be
the reason for 2 people have differing experiences in what they see.
Try contacting the guy I just saw recommended and if, after contacting him, you
are still searching to understand let me know and I will see if my son would be
willing to visit with you on the issue. He is running an IT team right now as
one of his responsibilities but they are on the customer service end of things.

No, there should be a alternative captcha. If you can't hear the audio, you
may need to use Google Chrome or Firefox with a plug-in to one of the
captcha solving services. But, if you can hear the audio, it is accessible.

Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and Skype audio ducking?

2017-11-27 Thread Fernando Gregoire
Hi,

Although you are experiencing audio ducking of the JAWS voice, it may be
helpful to verify that audio ducking in JAWS is turned off; to check this,
press JAWS+SPACEBAR and then S.
If this doesn't work, try going to Settings Center and, in the Synthesizer
group, check the Allow Wave Files when Using Software Synthesizer or
something similar option. After okaying this dialog, unload and restart
JAWS for the change to take effect.

Hope it helps!

2017-11-27 Thread Sadam Ahmed

Hi Fernando,

I've already tried this trouble shooting step, and still experiencing
the issue.

The Disability Answer Desk is suggesting that it's a bug with JAWS, as
Narrator doesn't duck the audio when making calls.

Very annoying indeed, Skype has become all but useless on my machine,
it's that bad.

Any more suggestions or advanced steps I can try before reaching out to
VFO technical support  would be much appreciated.

Best,
