Re: [JAWS-Users] Moving list
I in genral terms have found the Groups.IO mailing list experience to be a superior one than some of the other mailing lists. I.E. Google Groups, Mailman, etc. For one, the web interface is much easier to get around on than the other set ups and a handy and useful feature that Groups.io has is that you can easily mute a topic for those times when a thread is of no interest to me or if begins to devolve and meander. I did not exerpeince this most recent hiccup folks are talking about with bounce back and so on. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List On Behalf Of Maria Campbell Sent: Thursday, July 19, 2018 2:00 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Moving list 700 back messages? This happened to me several times in the course of a single day, and affected all groups on that server that I was subscribed to. i had to keep going to the web site and unbouncing myself. The issue seems to have cleared up now, and yesterday I received almost 700 back messages. Re: [JAWS-Users] Skype 8 for desktop answering incoming call?
SO anyway, to answer my own question since it seems no one had the answer. The actual command to answer an incoming call with Skype 8.x desktop is control plus shift plus P. This was listed in the link I provided as the command to start a call. Still though, it seems you have to be in the Skype window to execute any of these commands. Be it answer, hang up, mute, etc. This is a rather needless annoyance since before, the hotkeys were universal no matter where you may have been in the machine. It may seem like a minor thing, but I often work in different virtual desktops with lots of programs and windows open at the same time and having to scramble to get to the right window/desktop and then perform the action when before a simple alt plus pg up or pg down worked fine comes off as a pointless step backwards. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List On Behalf Of Panagiotis Antonopoulos Sent: Tuesday, July 17, 2018 11:27 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Skype 8 for desktop answering incoming call? Hi Cristobal-all, Indeed, there seems to be none. What I am doing is alt-tab to the skype window once I heard the signal, then windows-v to open the various options and tabbing to answer call. Then once speaking, I have to tab till I get to "turn on video" and there we are. Hello list, So, I upgraded Skype for desktop on a laptop to try to get used to it before MS kills Skype classic in September. I came across some short cut keys from: https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12025/what-are-hotkeys-and-how-do-i-use-t hem-in-skype What I'm not finding is the hotkey to answer an incoming call. I can't believe that there isn't one for such a basic function, but it's not listed in the table. Start a call, hang up, mute, that's all fine, but nothing for answering a call. Am I missing something or is this really not included as a shortcut key? Re: [JAWS-Users] going back to previous version of jaws
Really? That seems . . . rather extreme just to be able to access one particular website. Has she tried accessing it in different browsers? Maybe NVDA? Removing share components really is kind of like a last step type of deal. Have you or other screen reader users tried accessing the same site to be sure it's actually the site and maybe not something on her machine or capabilities? Reach out to VFO to see if they can reproduce the same difficulties? -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List On Behalf Of PeterTighe Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2018 4:04 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] going back to previous version of jaws I have a friend who needs to use Jaws version 14 for a particular web site. Re: [JAWS-Users] purchasing Office 365
I've got a couple of business premium accounts which allow for 50 GB of mail storage and 1 tb of online OneDrive storage. You can download Office on to five devices, but I own my own copies of Office 2016, so I choose not to do so. $84 for the entire year for one premium email address. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List On Behalf Of JM Casey Sent: Tuesday, July 17, 2018 8:40 AM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] purchasing Office 365 It sounds like you want to purchase Office 2016, and not Office 365, which is a subscription-based service. For multiple licenses, I think you'll need to get at least the home/business version. As far as I know there are three "grades" of office suite: personal, home/business and professional. I know the personal version does not come with multiple licenses. The home/business might be three, but I can't remember for sure, so you'll have to look into it. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List On Behalf Of Vicki W. So, what am I looking for as far as the name and best to use with JAWS? I will be doing this on Amazon. Thanks. Re: [JAWS-Users] Have to get new MS office suite
Use Office 2016 desktop applications on my machines. If you're already familiar with Office programs, it's not going to be that much of a shock, but for maybe the ribbons Even then, like most things, you'll get used to it. I dont' even worry about PST files and all that noise as much as before. Microsoft Exchange or imap takes those headaches away. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List On Behalf Of Jim Pursley Sent: Thursday, July 12, 2018 5:50 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Have to get new MS office suite We just upgraded to Office 365 from Thunderbird email client and Office 2010. I don't do much with Word, but with O365 I didn't need to uninstall anything. Just got a Microsoft account, bought the O365 home with 5 connections and so far it's running pretty smoothly. I've never used Outlook, so I kept Tbird. After a few days (I'll read the FS tutorial on Outlook I bought recently) I can do everyday stuff like send, receive, forward, etc. Bottom line, I've not found Office 2016 (which I downloaded) much different than 2010-especially for Excel which I constantly use. I even see some benefits to Outlook over Thunderbird. The exchange server we had to get with O365 works faster and more reliably than our former server of the POP variety. So..kicking and screaming I upgraded and survived with a growing smile on my face. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List On Behalf Of JM Casey Sent: Thursday, July 12, 2018 9:36 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Have to get new MS office suite Hey Wayne. I just upgraded from office 2010 32-bit to 2016 64-bit. I used 2016 before at my old work and found that it worked really well with jAWS 18 except for the semi-usual jAWS crashes, which I recently discovered seem less of an issue if you stick to good ole' Eloquence. I do find that certain things, like the spell-check, seems to work better in 2016. I would upgrade to 2016 because it's the latest non-365 version and will continue to be supported for quite some time. I made a backup of my outlook data using the export feature. In the end, even though I had to uninstall Office completely in order to install the new version, those files were retained in my data folders and so I did not end up needing to use the backup. The same should be true for you, but just backup the folders anyway, just in case. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List On Behalf Of wayne smith Sent: July 12, 2018 8:28 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Have to get new MS office suite Well, it is here. I am getting notices from Microsoft that my MS Office 2007 is no longer supported. I have basic needs and do not want to have to relearn everything again if I don't have to. I can upgrade through my school to something less than 365. I could use some advice as to which MS Office is most constant with the older version. I have used 2010 and it worked reasonable well. I Have Windows 7 and JAWS 15 but I do have upgrades to current versions that I have not used. Any thoughts would be appreciated. On a related note I currently have my emails sent to my MS Outlook 2007. If I upgrade will the folders that I have created automatically export to say Outlook 2016?
