Hi there, I'm currently using Windows Live Mail, it has some issues but,
nothing I can't handle. Windows Live Mail comes with Windows Live
essentials, it is all in one installer, you just select the applications you
want to install and uncheck those you don't want.

I hope this helps.

Hello list members:

My friend uses Windows Live Mail. When he starts typing an e-mail address
into the To field of a new message, JAWS jumps into another field and says
edit. He has to press Ault+Tab one or more times to get back to the To
field to finish typing the e-mail address. He also says that JAWS loses
focus in the main message window. Has anyone experienced these problems and
been able to find solutions to them?

Hi everyone:
I was helping a friend update his antivirus on his laptop and discovered
that, on many web sites, Jaws is not saying the edit field. On Google.com,
for example, if I press the letter E, it will go to the place where the
search field should be. Instead of saying search edit, though, it simply
says blank. The search area sounds like this: search, blank, blank, search
button. Pressing spacebar or enter does nothing. I have tried it with other
web sites and it seems to work with some, like gmail and freedomscientific,
but not others, like amazon or Yahoo, where it does the exact same thing I
just described about Google.
He has a Toshiba laptop, Windows home premium, and Jaws 9, latest version. I
ran two repairs on jaws, and then I completely removed and did a clean
install of Jaws, all to no avail. I have never experienced anything like
this before. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All;

I received the information below, from another list for all of you Facebook
enthusiasts.

Hi,

Kim Komando just wrote about this fairly cool application call FTalk. Works
on XP, Vista, and Windows 7.

fTalk is a desktop messaging application that works with Facebook. Just
install it and sign in using your Facebook account information.

You'll immediately see all your online and offline friends. You can chat
without opening up your browser. It works like a regular instant messaging
program. However, you can do Facebook-specific things at the same time, like
updating your status.

http://www.ftalk.com/

No idea of how accessible it is. so if anyone tries it, please let me know.
I would try it but do not have a face book account.

Rich

Hope this has helped 1 of you social networking people! Take care.
Mike

Re: [JAWS-Users] Calculater?

For XP the Windows calculator should suffice. to get to the Windows
calculator, you can press your Windows Logo key plus r then type in calc, If
you don't have a Windows Logo key on your keyboard, you can use control plus
escape to bring up the start menu, after that, press r to bring up the run
dialog, in the run dialog, type in calc, that would bring up the Windows
default calculator. It works quite well with JAWS.

I hope this helps you..

Windows Live Messenger 2011 have been inaccessible up until now but I've
heard that it now is accessible with the latest build of JAWS 12 which is
currently a release candidate.

Which means it is soon to be released.
I've not tried it yet myself though but I will as soon as possible.
I'm still using Windows Live Messenger 2009 which works ok.
I've tried InstantBird but dumped it quickly.
It worked ok but it's not even possible to change your display name...
But that may be fixed now.

I would suggest that you hide it, its nothing to be worried about, it will
disappear as soon as you hide it, it seems to be a system file that takes
relatively no space on the hard drive, I just did the same thing to a
similar file.

Have a good day,

Hello,

I have a folder at the top of a drive titled

2b94e5c95f90ea85e52dc3af

However when I try to delete it I get an access denied message. It also
says I need administrative rights. The folder properties indicates the
folder size is 0 bites and contains 0 files. I did a MSE scan but no
viruses were found. What can I do to get rid of this folder? Thanks.

Here's what I do to get to the volume CTRL in windows 7.
1. click on computer
2. click on local disc: (c)
3. Click on windows (press w until you hear windows)
4. Now press the letter s or s y s t e m until you get to system 32 and
press enter
5. Now type SND until you get to sndvol.exe and press enter to look at
the

volume mixer.
If you do not want to take that long route, once you are on the
sndvol.exe

option, you can bring up the context menu and send it to the desktop (or
where ever you prefer), pin it to the taskbar, start menue etc for
quicker

access.
I renamed the sndvol.exe to volume CTRL and just placed it on my desktop,
so

I wouldn't have to take the seenick route.
I hope this is what you were looking for, if not, hopefully someone will
bennefit from what I just wrote.:)

Hi List:

Does anyone know a good tutorial for the computer illiterate for Outlook
2010?

I have been using XP-Home and Outlook Express with JAWS 10 for years.
However, I am now using a new laptop with Windows 7 and JAWS 11. Outlook
Express is no longer an option and the Live Mail program that came
installed

is beyond me so I downloaded a demo of Outlook 2010 and am trying to learn
it but its help menu keeps going out of focus, the delete key and the key
between the insert and enter keys of the number pad don't seem to work and
control+delete is silent all of the time when I try to delete incoming
messages with it and sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I would like
to

try Windows Mail that seems to be a part of Vista (I never did use a
computer with Vista) but have no idea how to put it on a computer with
Windows 7.

Any thoughts on what to do to transfer from being a user of Outlook
Express

to becoming at all conversant with Outlook 2010 would be most appreciated.
To reiterate, I am using a laptop with a desktop keyboard with Windows 7,
JAWS 11 and Outlook 2010.

Thanks.

Question.
I have called freedom scientific about this and they tell me that it's a
known issue.
When in windows live mail, when selecting lines with shift down arrow,
jaws

will repeat.
Has anyone had this problem? And how did you get around it?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] 2 Firefox questions

Hi Listers,

I recently installed Firefox at work because Jaws 10 with IE 7 just didn't
work to fill out a number of forms that I'm responsible for. Fortunately,
Firefox is doing the job. There are 2 things I can't figure out with
Firefox though.

1. I can't figure out how to turn on the feature to have web addresses
that I go to often auto complete when I start typing the address.

2. In IE what Jaws calls combo boxes are called list boxes in Firefox, and
they seem to operate differently. In Firefox, the only way I can find to
select an item is to hit enter on it. That's not a problem - although I
don't know what will happen when I come across a multi-select list box.
The problem is that after I select an item Jaws doesn't recognize it when
I read through the page to check my work. Jaws just says list box
collapsed. My work around has been to unload firefox and go back to IE so
that Jaws can read the selections in the combo boxes. This isn't a big
deal, but if there's a better way to handle this, I'd love to know.

Thank you,
Shari

Thank you. Yes, I have tried alt down arrow because that's how I work with
combo boxes in IE, but when I close out of the box that way and go back,
the item I wanted isn't selected. If I hit enter on the item, at least it
is selected when I check back.

2010-11-08 Thread Tim Appleby
Hi David, I totally agree with you, this inflammatory business should be

please stop this immediately!

David has put this list up as a hobbie, not a place for people to complain
about products such as JAWS, flaming FS here is not the place to do it, if
you have any complaints about their products, they should contact FS
directly, not on this list!

Have I made my point yet people or not? Drop the offensive subject lines
and the negative posts or we're going to do is start picking email
addresses off of list messages and simply start removing members until all
of the complainers are gone. If you don't like the way we run things on
here nobody is forcing you to stay. We do this as a hobby and nothing says
we're required to continue. Just in case some of the more dense might not
be completely sure I am not a happy camper right now.

If I wake up tomorrow and find any further offensive messages those people
will not post again, now nobody should be in doubt at all.

Rick and Bob you guys know the drill who ever posts an offensive message
is gone.

[JAWS-Users] Windows Live Messenger 2011

Hi everyone, I have an interaction issue with Windows Live Messenger 2011, I
just updated to it again hoping that they have solved some of the issues I have
had with it, I believe it is a JAWS issue but, not really sure, every time I
type any messages, it shows the first word of my sentence at the end of the
sentence instead of the beginning, plus, I've had an issue where I have used
the alt plus 1 through 0 keys for a long time but, they would work for a while
then stop working, further more, when someone sends a message, it would repeat
a message 3 times before shutting up. Is this a known issue among users?

If anyone can tell me, it would be greatly appreciated,

Thank you.

Try downloading the latest version of the JFW setup and running the setup
press the next button, JAWS will start back in a slower pace then, pick the
repair button then press the second repair button. there is another way to
do that as well, you can press the following combination win plus R then
brows for the setup file you had previously saved the setup then open it,
then press the space bar then type /repair.

while, just tell me when you have successfully downloaded the two files, the
previous build and the latest build, note: the latest build is the second
link, these files are the 32 bit versions of JAWS.

If anyone wants the 64 bit versions, I can also upload those if anyone needs
them.

I recently switched from Juice to Golden Ear to download and listen to
podcast because Juice did not install properly. Well that's another story
for another day. Golden Ear seems interesting, and I am learning my way
around the program. What I like about the program is that podcasts appear's
to load very fast. What I have not quite figured out is player controls
while listening to Podcasts. I don't know how to pause a podcast,
rewind/forward a podcast or how to stop a podcast without actually exiting
the application. Any ideas is greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, your right, there is no rewind Fast Forward, Pause, or Volume buttons,
there are however unlabeled buttons in there. There is another selution for

But NextUp says all their voices only work with their other speech

software, and that all their voices wont work independently with JAWS or
for that matter any other screen reader I may have already.
Would u pl send me a specific URL for the page which you claim allows me

BTW, pl don't recommend Acapela Infovox to me as I'm getting weird

Hello.

sorry if this has been asked here before. I'm looking to find additional
US English and UK English Sapi voices I can use with JAWS11. These of
course will be apart from the free RealSpeak Solo voices provided by
Freedom Scientific for free to JAWS11 owners. I'm aware nextup.com has

Any help and URL's would be appreciated.

win xp has the unzip program built right in there is no need to get
another unless you want to deal with rar files.

xp just calls them compressed zip folders.

You don't need training to become a garbage collector. You just pick

apparent reason, I started hearing weird sounds after I launched Google.
It sounds like a siren or some kind of video game, but I'm sure it's the
same sound effects you are experiencing. I thought this might be a virus,
but running a scan with MSE did not resolve the problem. Closing IE 8 and

does not announce link. When I hit Enter on this object, nothing
happens. When I press Insert-Control-Enter, JAWS announces content has
changed, but again, I do not get the log in page. I have tried every
keystroke combination I can think of to no avail. I can't find any other
link to the log in page. Am I missing something, or is this link set up
in such a way that JAWS can't activate it? For anyone who's interested ,

you can figure out how to activate it to bring up the log in page.

Re: [JAWS-Users] uninstalling previous versions of jaws.

2010-04-25 Thread Tim Appleby
Its possible that you need to have Typing interrupt engaged, that way, your
menus and other stuff should stop speech when typing another letter or up or
down arrow moving from item to item in the menu structure

to change that behavior, go too your config manager and then go to user
settings then tab down until you hear JAWS say Typing interrupt checkbox not
check, check that box then your issue should go away.

I hope that I was able to help you out successfully

Yes, I had the demo directly from FS but, I didn't get the actual program
because of the expense of it.

It would be a little more for us Canadians because the import would be quite

functioning? How long does it last?

Actually, Openbook does record Elequence onto MP3 formatted
files, if you
set it to record the text into either WAV or MP3, its your
choice.

I hope this helps, I had the program as a demo, that's how I

There may be some software out there but one off the cuff

way to do this

and I don't know if it would work but...
Open .pdf file using scanning software.
I think scanning software like Openbook reads PDF files

better.

File is read using synthesized voice, eloquence, sappy...
You can then record the synthesized reading using a

digital recorder.

You now have a audio file on your recorder that you can

copy to your PC.

I know that you can go from speech to text using Dragon or

similar

software but don't know if there are other ways.

Hello Ann,

I haven't used Open Book for some time but if I remember right the option
to

save a file as an audio file was in the file menu. Another idea to
consider

might be using www.zamzar.com. They will convert PDF to MP3 and the audio

is quite good. I sent them a file recently and had it returned in just a

couple minutes. I have put a link below to the file on my SkyDrive page
so

you can listen to the audio. The file I submitted was a PDF file on

bluetooth technology and the resulting MP3 was a lot better than I thought

it would be. If you follow the llink below you will be taken to the page

for downloading the file. Use insert with f7 and pick the download link
on

the web page. You can choose to save it if you want to or just open it to

hear it. If you use ZamZar then all you need to do is browse to the file
on

your drive and upload it, put in your Email address where they can send a

link to the file, choose MP3 from the combo box and submit the file. When

you follow the link they send you there will be an alternative to download

the file, which you can do to get the MP3 file on your computer. Here is

the link to the audio file on my SkyDrive page that I had them convert if

you want to hear some of it to check out the quality:

No, from what I've heard, JAWS 10 doesn't work with Win 7., if you want to
use Win 7, it is recommended to have JAWS 11 or grater.
