you received the Control and ALT keys part two, or the Using iTunes 12 with

On some websites I run across buttons I can't click on with space or enter.
I try routing cursors, turning off virtual cursor, left clicking, just about
everything I can think of but the keystroke won't work to get me to the next
page. I see it a lot on banking sites and on submit or continue buttons.
Due to the configuration of some newer websites with maybe too many
graphics--just making a guess--is there just no way to be able to use
buttons and therefore the inability to complete tasks on these sites without
sighted help? I truly hope there's an answer and that it's not impossible
to use these sites independently.

Thanks.

Hi all,
I forgot to mention that you do not even need to have dropbox to download
the tutorial from the link I gave you. You don't have to know how to use it
or anything like that. All you guys need to do is enter on the link in the
email, and a page will come up. Go to almost to the bottom of the page and
there will be a download link, and press enter on that. Now, you can save it
where you want on your computer. That is it. If you guys want to learn how
to use Drop Box, I could teach you that in my next tutorial. Take care, and
I hope you can download it and all will learn a lot about Chrome. I am now
using it as my default browser. It is an hour audio tutorial and I go over
all the basics of Chrome from browsing, to saving and getting to book marks,
saving pages in different formats, downloading and saving files, and much
more. Let me know how it goes downloading it.

Yes Mike, I got the same thing you did. My user account came up and asked
me if I wanted to make changes and since it was FS, I went ahead. It
appears no changes were made. I just ignored it after I said yes and was
alt tabbing and I saw checking for updates. This may take a few minutes.
Then, after a few minutes, I saw you have the latest version of Jaws. So,
when I saw that, I just got out of it. So, that was my experience.

you can see the buttons for record, stop, length of recording, when you are

trim the beginning and the end of the recording, you can rename it as well.
it records in m4.a
I just added, w-10 navigation lesson 1 to one drive.
Not a great recording quality, I will get it better next time.

yes, you should reinstall Jaws 16, here is why.
yes, you are correct, it does come up talking and you can access the
 start button correctly.
but I noticed while playing around with all apps region, and the live
tile area, jaws was very sluggish.
After removing and reinstalling, the apps area and the tile area
 worked much smoother.
Microsoft also recommends a fresh install of Jaws 16 after installing
 windows 10 from either w-7 or w-8.1.
It is not that difficult to do.
After uninstalling jaws 16, turn on Narrator with windows key+enter,
to close the programs and features window, and go to restart your
 computer, press enter.
Wait for a reasonable time until you know that the sign in screen is
up, type your password and press enter.
Again, wait for a reasonable time, press windows key+enter to start
 Narrator.
go to your download folder where you will have put the jaws 16 program
file, down arrow to the jaws file.
press caps lock key+escape to exit narrator, or skip this step and
wait until the installation of jaws has started to close narrator.
, now press enter on the Jaws 16 program file to start installation.
Depending on your computer you will either have to press enter again
for the Jaws instillation, or the ALT+y, for the users account dialog
 which will pop up.
 finish installing Jaws,
Important, if you chose to keep your share settings, which I would and
 did do on my computer.
jaws 16 will install and after you hit finish, it will come on
 speaking, no restart.
Make sure you reset your short cut start up key for jaws.
Make sure you check the setting and check the box for jaws to come on
at the log on screen before restarting.
Every other setting should be retained.

Hi, jaws users:

Important: totally uninstall jaws and reinstall it after you update to
windows 10.
I tried just repairing jaws 16, but I could not access the start button.
called Microsoft support, they told me to uninstall and reinstall jaws, and
they were right.
everything is working now except for cortana.
I used the media tool from Microsoft, you must have reserved windows 10 to
use this tool successfully.

I personally give Microsoft a A+ for windows 10.
All my files, folders, and settings were transferred without any problems.
So far all my programs work.
the first time I used the Microsoft tool, it took about 2 hours to download
windows 10, but five minutes into the setup it failed.
I immediately did the download again, took about 20 minutes, and upgraded my
windows 7, 64 bit to windows 10 home, with no issues.
Again, after uninstalling and reinstalling jaws, I had no issues on windows
10.
Good luck to everyone...

Press windows key+enter, to start narrator.
You will hear a very nice male voice.
ALT+tab to the narrator settings window.
tab across to the various buttons.
A settings button allows you to change the voice, it’s speed, it’s pitch, and
it’s volume.
Pressing caps lock+escape, will quit narrator.
Pressing caps lock+f1, will bring up a list of 76 shortcut keys for narrator
using mainly the caps lock key in combo with other keys.
I just spent one hour playing with it, fabulous, very understandable.

Beware of many changes in this update.
the f6 key is just like pressing the tab key, it does not jump across
various controls like in itunes 12.1.
there is a new service called Apple music, some kind of a streaming service.
I will have to play with it more, once I got it started I could not stop it.
over all, every thing works, there are just extra edit fields between your
artist, albums, and music list.
extra check boxes across the top as well, like, for you, new, connect to,
are some of the new things.
Freedom Scientific needs to take a look when they can, and at least get the
f6 key working again.
So with a lot of tabbing around, itunes 12.2 does work very good with the
latest jaws 16 release.
happy music listening to all...

you've probably changed the keyboard layout from the US keyboard to a

Try www.facebook.com/mobile or get on the facebook.com page and press
the mobile link and bookmark the page. All of this said, there are
things the site won't do for me, such as confirm a reply or comment I
make when someone sends me a link, etc. I'm not even sure I was able
to post, as I get an error message when I leave the site asking me if
I want to finish my comment.

The mobile site is better with screen readers than the regular site,
though. Pity Zuckerberg and company can't make their site as
 accessible as linkedin.

It still sounds complicated!

I used to simply press alt-s for the store menu, select the home option,
press f6 to search for something specific type in whatever I wanted and
press enter. Then you would get the list of results. But the only option
there seems to be to buy songs and not to preview them?

Hi again, here are the steps on previewing songs in itunes 11.
Press control+s, brings up the tree view.
Arrow down to itunes store, give it a few seconds to update.
Press the letter h, for heading, 8 times until you get to the heading, quick
links, or insert+f6 and down arrow to the quick links heading and press
enter.
Press the downarrow 16 times until you get to the browse link, or press
insert+f7 to bring up links list at that point and press the letter b
insert+for
browse followed by the enter key.
Now if you are looking for music, downarrow in this list box to music.
Now tab and you are in a list box of different kinds of music, now downarrow
to the kind you want to see.
Now tab again to the next list box, if you chose country in the last list,
now you can choose what kind of country you want to look at.
Now tab again to the artest list and use first letter navigation or just
press the downarrow to the artest that you wish to look at.
Now tab again to the album list, again use the first letter or just
downarrow to the album that you want to hear.
Now tab again to the song list, press enter to start the preview of the
song, press spacebar to stop the preview.
You can shift tab at any time to change the different list of options, this
is a great and fast way to search through and preview all of your favorite
kinds of music and your favorite artist.
if you want to buy a certain song while in the list of songs, press the
applications key and arrow down to buy song.
the only thing I have not yet figured out is how to buy the album from this
list.
What you can do is copy the name of the album and paiste it into itunes
store search edit and go to the buy album button on the page, for that
album.
I hope this has helped to clearify how to browse in itunes 11, thank you
again Graham...

 Hello everyone,

I hope I'm not the only one with this issue. If not, I hope that some
of you report it also. FS Tech support tells me that they can't
reproduce it and will not escalate it. At random times, outlook 2010 will
stop responding.

[JAWS-Users] a solution for outlook 2010 and Jaws 14 freezing up

2012-10-26 Thread Diane Giannetti
We solved the Outlook 2010 problem with Jaws 14 on our computer.

Here are the steps we took to solve the problem.

We went to the following web site.

http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/vistadefault.aspx?ln=en-us

We checked the agree button,

We then allowed Microsoft to download a file to windows update to check for
Microsoft office 2010 updates.

Once we did this, it took us to our windows check for updates.

Where it told us that there were 31 updates to be installed includeing the
service pack 1 update.

After downloading and installing all 31 updates, outlook 2010 is working
beautifully.

We want to thank Eric, and also we want to thank Kim in teck support for all
her patience, also we thank all of you on this list for your help.

We hope this solution will help others as well.

God bless and thank all of you again..

Hi all,

I just installed Tappan radio 1.57, and it's not working correctly. When I
hit the search menus button, I have a list of choices, like, countries,
genre, network, etc., but when I hit space bar or enter on any of those
choices, there are no choices to choose from. I have had this program in the
past, and I had lots to choose from and now nothing shows. Is this a jaws
issue or tap an radio issue? How do I fix this?

I am currently running jaws 13, latest update, jaws 7, on a 64 bit machine.
Jim

I had the same question about getting Vocalizer to indicate caps. Here is
the reply I used to fix that issue. Works like a charm, BTW.

The Vocalizer voices, just like the RealSpeak Solo Direct voices are
incapable of indicating capitalization using a raised pitch. Instead, you
will need to have capital letters preceded with Cap. This has to be
accomplished using the JAWS Speech and Sound Scheme settings.
Freedom Scientific has a DAISY Training Book, which uses this specific
example in their course material.

I have been using a combo of Tom and Jill and mostly I think I like them. I
still hear my Eloquence guy for start menu, sort of like keeping in touch
with an old friend.

The main thing I don't like about the Vocalizer is no recognition of capital
letters. Can someone tell me how to make them do this when going letter by
letter? I know they can't do pitch changes but I thought that there was
some way to make them say capital. Or did I just dream this?
The other problem which is surmountable is that they mispronounce many
words. Or maybe it is just that I previously taught Eloquence to pronounce
words that Vocalizer can't access. But with the Dictionary manager I will
teach them how to talk.

Hello all , after down loading jaws 14 I went ahead and tried a couple of
the new vocalizer voices for jaws, and I must say not bad. After using them
for a hour or so I must admit that I went back to eloquence.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws 14 freezing with outlook 2010

2012-10-25 Thread Diane Giannetti
I have also had the problem of jaws 14 freezing with outlook 2010. It
appears that I have no problems with regular email messages or jaws
messages, but when I have messages that involve links and I try to get into
a link, it either will freeze or give me blanks. I was advised to uninstall
and reinstall jaws 14 to see what happens. I had an old email that still
gave me trouble. So I am waiting for a new email with links to come in to
see what happens.
