The error might be pointing to, smtp authtentication.
You have to turn that on on your email client to get the smtp to work with
gmail.

Hello; the information below is not accurate;

Andy,
Port 465 is good for the incoming, port 587 or 9903 is the out going SMTP.
The incoming server port should be, 995 if the account is a pop account, 993
if the account is a imap account.
The out going server should be, either, 465, or, 587.

Hello Andy,
Assuming you're using Outlook Express, you'll need to change the security
settings in your Gmail account.
The thing is, with some applications, Google detects they aren't "modern" so it
blocks their access to Gmail.
You should lower the security setting in Gmail.
I don't remember exactly how to do it, but if you would like I can check the
settings again.

how do I
go about setting it up so I can access it with OE on my PC?

Hello;
I think the message you received has to do with security.

Did you enable this option in the main screen of your account?
"Secure Password Authentication"
If yes, disable it and try again.

Actually, I don't think g mail uses POP these days, could be wrong.
But as the Jeff said, IMAP is much more versatile than POP.

First if your using a client such as outlook thunderbird outlook express
etc. you want to go into gmail settings and allow less secure apps. Second
make sure pop3 is turned in gmail settings. I am using pop3 and it's

Re: [JAWS-Users] [jaws] creating a gmail email account

2017-05-25 Thread Audiobookfan
Well, according to gmail help, they do support POP3, (Rick's
instructions are from the support page) but it's not the default. You
must go into gmail settings and enable POP3. However, I still maintain
that IMAP is a better option.

I don't use Outlook, so I'm not familiar with their error messages, but
that doesn't sound like a proper account, although that might just be a
name given to the account. The actual account ID should be your full
gmail email address.

Actually, I don't think g mail uses POP these days, could be wrong.

should

not have to get into the manual set up, you should just be able to enter
your user/email name, account name and password in the outlook email setup

Read Gmail messages on other email clients using POP

You can open your messages from Gmail in other mail clients that support
POP, like Microsoft Outlook.

Step 1: Make sure POP is the best way to read your emails

IMAP and POP are both ways to read your Gmail messages in other email
clients.

IMAP can be used across multiple devices. Emails are synced in real time.

POP can only be used for a single computer. Emails aren't synced in real
time. Instead, they're downloaded and you decide how often you want to
download new emails.

Step 2: Set up POP
First, set up POP in Gmail
list of 6 items
1. On your computer, open
Gmail.
2. In the top right, click Settings
Settings
.
3. Click Settings.
4. Click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
5. In the "POP Download" section, select Enable POP for all mail or Enable
POP for mail that arrives from now on.
6. At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
list end

Next, make changes on your email client

Go to your client, like Microsoft Outlook, and check these settings.

I’m trying to open a 2nd gmail account, and each time I get to the closed
captcha, and put in the correct words, it never gets past that point...in
other words, it doesn’t accept or refuse what I entered. I have tried this
on i.e., firefox and chrome, with both jaws 12, and 17. can there be a
setting I need to change? it only happens with gmail
