Now that isn't necessarily true. Voice over is great, and I love that it is
accessible right out of the box, but it has a little ways to go before it
gets where jaws is. Some say this will improve with the release of the Lion
OS system coming out for the mac sometime this month. I run windows with vm
fusion on my mac, and love the fact that I have both to choose from. Mainly
I use Jaws for the office suite, but use voice over for everything else.
And most programs that are on the mac, are accessible with voice over. The
best part is you never have to pay for an upgrade to voice over, just for
the operating system. But again, it's a matter of what you like to do with
Jaws, but the 2 are as different as night and day. I used a mac cold turkey
for almost a month before I installed windows virtually just so I could get
used to it and not jump to windows when I didn't get something or couldn't
figure it out. HTH

You can run Windows on a mac using VMWare or other programs like it and
 thus
run Jaws on it. I think some people on these lists actually do that, so
maybe they can give you some input on how the process, performance, etc

No. The bad news is that there is no jaws for mac. The good news is
that any recent version of the mac operating system already comes
with the screenreader for mac tied into the operating system. This
native Mac Screenreader is Called Voiceover and has becomeq quite
good. Google for Voiceover and you should find plenty of

ok, here is some key strokes that will work on any mac to get VoiceOver
working.

If on a iMac or mac pro,
Just do command key + f5 to turn on.
If using a bookPro,
Just do a fn key + command key + f5.
If you do a control + option key +k, turn on keyboard mode like insert +1
for jaws.
If you do a control +option + h, turns on help menu for voiceOver
commands.
Now for some keyboard key location. You can use any keyboard. Starting
from left bottom, control key, windows/option key, alt/command key.

That should get you up and going to have a look around.

Re: [JAWS-Users] The JAWS program for the Mac

2011-07-19 Thread Trouble
I switched most stuff over to my mac, because you don't have to set
the op different. VoiceOver will run no matter how you have the op
configured. Being built into the op lets it recover from speech crash
just by turning it off and back on. no rebooting!
Also here is the big plus. When the op is upgraded so is VoiceOver.
So you get op and screen reader for around $30 a lot cheaper for
something that works.

with the screenreader for mac tied into the operating system. This
native Mac Screenreader is Called Voiceover and has becomeq quite
good. Google for Voiceover and you should find plenty of
information for you and your colleague. Also, I am sure that there is
a voiceover email support group out there but I do not know
subscriptioninformation. Again I refer you to our friend Google.

I switched most stuff over to my mac, because you don't have to set the op
different. VoiceOver will run no matter how you have the op configured.
Being built into the op lets it recover from speech crash just by turning
it off and back on. no rebooting!
Also here is the big plus. When the op is upgraded so is VoiceOver. So you
get op and screen reader for around $30 a lot cheaper for something that
works.

You can run Windows on a mac using VMWare or other programs like it and
thus

run Jaws on it. I think some people on these lists actually do that, so
maybe they can give you some input on how the process, performance, etc
works.

No. The bad news is that there is no jaws for mac. The good news is
that any recent version of the mac operating system already comes

Re: [JAWS-Users] The JAWS program for the Mac

2011-07-19 Thread Trouble
ok, here is some key strokes that will work on any mac to get
VoiceOver working.

If on a iMac or mac pro,
Just do command key + f5 to turn on.
If using a bookPro,
Just do a fn key + command key + f5.
If you do a control + option key +k, turn on keyboard mode like
insert +1 for jaws.

If you do a control +option + h, turns on help menu for voiceOver commands.
Now for some keyboard key location. You can use any keyboard.
Starting from left bottom, control key, windows/option key, alt/command key.

That should get you up and going to have a look around.

I am visiting the USA (tampa) for the Thanksgiving and Christmas

JAWS in 2000 and it has worked for me since then.

Re: [JAWS-Users] The JAWS program for the Mac

2011-07-19 Thread KliphSharrie
HTH
