Re: [JAWS-Users] clickable
Hi Kevin & Net bat, Below are 2 different ways of stopping the, Clickable, element from being reported by Jaws: how to make JAWS ignore only the announcement of "clickable" without affecting the other elements is to: browse to a website that has occurrences of "clickable". start settings center. find and expand, speech and sounds schemes. down arrow to and activate modify schemes. Tab to, Edit scheme, & press the spacebar. control+tab to html tab. tab and down arrow to on click speak. tab and down arrow to ignore. tab to and activate ok. at this point, the modified scheme needs to be saved and chosen to when the browser is used. From: Carlos via BlindTech In "Settings Center" under the "Web / HTML / PDFs" category, there is a subcategory labeled "Miscellaneous" Under "Miscellaneous" there is a setting labeled "Indicate Element Attribute" Unchecking this setting will stop Jaws from saying "Clickable" Although I would not recommend this since there are times when you will miss out on elements of webpages that may be useful and are clickable. Carlos Take care. Mike. Go Dodgers! Sent from my iBarstool. Arguing with a woman is like reading a software license agreement. In the end you have to ignore everything, & click I agree. - Original Message - From: net bat66 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Sent: Saturday, July 08, 2017 8:31 PM Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] clickable most of the so called clickables are not clickable at all. window eyes is the same way. except you can turn them off. i saw the option in jaws once but i haven't found the option again. -Original Message- From: Kevin Sent: Saturday, July 08, 2017 8:01 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] clickable it hasn't worked for me MOST of the time. when I entered or space on the clickable you are correct focus is lost. thanks for the explaination! -Original Message- From: Jitendra Kumar Sent: Saturday, July 8, 2017 7:17 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] clickable It is a type of link or button, with OnClickHandler event, therefore JAWS does not recognize as link, but if you click on it, the action is performed. Re: [JAWS-Users] clickable
Next time I am on walmart.com I'll try that; however, I routed jaws to pc, performed a left mouse button click and the reason why I couldn't find what I was looking for is because I should've explored the page better. Apparently, after performing the left mouse click, I should've down arrowed and there were boxes to check for a gift receit/wrapping etc. And George did you go out and get the Walmart card yet? Lol. I don't qualify, hahaha hahaha hahaha. Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence. Re: [JAWS-Users] clickable clickable
Hi, Kate. I have this problem on the Zap2It sight. I thought I read someplace that clickable is the new term for On Mouse over JAWS used in previous versions, but I may be wrong about that. Plus, it seems to identify text next to or under the link as clickable when I know from experience that the text under the link is just that; text that's not dynamic in any way. Anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? Is does get annoying after a while. Re: [JAWS-Users] Clickable mouse-over links
You should be able to have the keystroke Alt + down arrow open (expand) the list. Sometimes referred to as a drop down menu by the sighted. Then use the arrow keys to get the value you want and then Alt + up arrow to close (collapse) the combo box. Usually, you can also press Tab to keep the selection as the item you were on and go to the next field. Re: [JAWS-Users] Clickable mouse-over links
Sometimes when you activate a mouse over, it simply adds new information, options or links. Most of the time it is immediately above or below the mouse over link. It is not always easy to find and can get very frustrating!
