Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws and Safari?

2014-04-30 Thread Flor Lynch
As mentioned, I have also tried out Safari. To look at the up-front
info, you'd think it'd be accessible. But it's not JAWS accessible
(unless its Windows edition has been changed - radically - in about the
last two years). I haven't heard that it has, and i believe I would
have.

Probably not. The only browsers that are known to work well with JAWS are
IE and Firefox.

In just one word: No. Installed Safari in Windows twice, and on neither
occasion did it work with the then current version of JAWS. (Apple's
main interest is not in Windows.)

I have heard that the Safari in windows accessibility situation may have
improved in the two years since I tried it. It caused me a bit of grief
then, so I'm not willing to experiment with it until there's definite

window-eyes, but the problem was I couldn't fill out any forms on web pages

anyway, a complete no go, no show.

If you mean the one that is on the
 Apex, then yes, it can..

The Apex has the Safari browser with Jaws from
Humanware
 and also uses
Braille, a Braille display with speech.
My son had one recently from his job and I was
able to hear
 Jaws as well as
read the display in Braille, very nice piece of
equipment,
 but far out of my
 price range...

If you mean the one that is on the
  Apex, then yes, it can..

The Apex has the Safari browser with Jaws from
 Humanware
  and also uses
Braille, a Braille display with speech.
My son had one recently from his job and I was
 able to hear
  Jaws as well as
read the display in Braille, very nice piece of
 equipment,
  but far out of my
  price range...

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws and Safari

2010-07-19 Thread Donald Marang
There is an edition of Safari available to run in Windows. I have not
attempted to install or use it lately, but the last time I did, it was
completely inaccessible. Perhaps you will notice that every time there is
an update for iTunes or QuickTime, it will keep nagging you to download
Safari as well.

Safari is a native Mac browser, and unless you are running it in virtual
machine, I doubt that JAWS supports Safari at the moment.
