Hi Susan. I'm glad you got this sorted out. I've been dealing with Cathy Ann
Murtha for years, and have purchased many of her resources. I might have
some more helpful resources for you. If interested, write me off list.

Hello. I actually got the book on a thumb drive yesterday and I did email
Cathy who did put the book together and will check it out during the week
and she did resend a new link and the download did work so just thought I
would give everyone the update. Thanks for all of the suggestions. Oh
another thing when are they going to get the audio ducking fixed? I would
really love to have this feature cause it drives me crazy when listening to
music in a web page with no controls to raise or lower the volume. I know in
NVDA it works which is really nice. That would be a huge improvement if the
people who work on that to please to keep that in mind. Thank you.

If you have a problem with your download, contact Cathy Ann. I'm sure she
will resolve it. I've been purchasing material from her for years now, and
have had nothing but positive experiences.

Hello. Well no such luck, I did buy the book from access technology
institute and did not see anything after I downloaded the file cause when I
went to extract the file it had nothing inside. I did buy Emerging in to
Jaws 2018 and was reading once you make the purchase which I did through pay
pal no refunds and it was 94.99. If anyone has a copy could you email it to
me as an attachment just don't like getting ripped off like this. I did look
on the freedom scientific website and the training material they want you to
purchase am not going to do it since it is 750 dollars on an SD card, and I
did not know about anything about access technology institute, so if
anything could use some help here. I mainly want the jaws book only, am not
interested in Office.
Thank you.

Susan,

The name of the woman behind ATI is CathyAnne Murtha. If you do a Google search
for the company name and hers, you should find an email link for her. In fact,
there's one on the ATI website from which you made your purchase. She's no
rip-off artist, so contact her and explain the problem.

As for VFO, they offer some training that is free and some that requires
payment. Again, go to the help part of the JAWS file menu for free materials.

Hi. If you install jaws you will get all of the training material under the
help menu. It's presented in Daisy format. Jaws has it's own daisy player,
FS reader, which works well.

Hello I was wondering if there any books or tutorials of jaws that are
current so I can understand it better. I did come across this one book from
the access technology institute and the book does cover jaws and is
95 dollars and is on Jaws 2018, does anyone know if its well worth the money
cause was reading about it and they walk through every setting and with the
book you get all text and audio formats to help you out. I am coming from
Window Eyes and use NVDA that is also a good screen reader so just wondering
what other people think. Thank you.

2018-03-15 Thread Orlando Enrique Fiol
Hi Sue. I definitely recognize your name from the GWMicro lists we
both were on for the past twenty years. Needless to say, I'm a
proficient Window-eyes user who read the proverbial writing on the
wall and migrated to Jaws. While I'm nowhere near as deeply involved
with Jaws as I was with Window-eyes, I can do all my computer work
without much trouble. How advanced of a Window-eyes user are you? Did
you ever write your own setfiles or at least install Window-eyes
apps? I'm just trying to get a sense of where you're coming from.
Raul Gallegos, whom you surely remember from his stint at GWMicro,
has created some written and audio Jaws tutorials that I think cover
many basics.
In any case, I'm available to answer any specific questions or just
to empathize while you transition to Jaws. Don't hesitate to keep in touch.

Susan,

I have used ATI's textbooks for Office 2010 with JAWS and most recently word
2016 with JAWS. The books are not perfect, but they are pretty comprehensive,
which is nice to have in one place. Where they omit information or where the
advice given is debatable, you can always post specific questions here and
elsewhere.

Rick recommends the free JAWS training materials you can find via the JAWS help
menu. I agree with him that Dan Clark does a good job. If you have difficulty
navigating this area of the JAWS menu, please post again.

Hi Susan,
Personally, before I spent any money, I would download the free training
material for Jaws.
You can get the training material in Daisy format, and Dan Clark, in the
training department, does an excellent job of walking
you through the different aspects of Jaws.
You can access this info by going to the "Help" menu in Jaws
