[JAWS-Users] windows update in windows 8.1
yes that helps thanks my computer is three years old so I guess that is the reason. Re: [JAWS-Users] windows update in windows 8.1 It would depend on how old your computer is, and the hard ware your running. My older computer takes about twenty minutes to check for updates, but my laptop, which was purchased last year with 16 gigs or RAM and a solid state drive, takes about a minute. The older computer has 2 gigs or RAM, and a standard 5200 RPM hard drive and like I said, it'll take anywhere from twenty minutes to a half hour to check for updates. Hope this helps. [JAWS-Users] windows update on windows 8.1
no it does not disrupt my machine I just wanted to know because I thought it was taking a little longer to check for updates and only finding one update. Re: [JAWS-Users] windows update on windows 8.1 Hi, Anna. No one using 8.1 has responded, so I'll give you my experience on my windows 7 system. I just ran Windows update and it went very quickly, from checking to installation. It took two or three minutes at most, which is unusually fast. The update must have been relatively small. Has it been a while since you've run Windows update? That could explain the long time. Otherwise, I imagine any number of factors could have slowed down the process when you went through it: some temporary connection problem, excessive downloading at that time. I find I can still work on my PC while windows update is going on in the background. Does it disrupt your machine? Otherwise, I doubt there's anything to worry about. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [ mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of anna vimini Sent: Thursday, October 27, 2016 4:45 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] windows update on windows 8.1 Yes I know but jaws 15 does not work on windows 10 and I do not have the money to upgrade to jaws 18 and also because I am not ready for another assessment with the CNIB for another two years. Thanks Re: [JAWS-Users] windows update in windows 8.1 when windows update is checking for updates for your installation of windows/microsoft programs, it is being determined which updates are needed, and if an update has been hidden or is still categorized as optional, microsoft has the ability to change the status to important for that hidden or optional update. so, the updates will be installed at some point, unless you interfere. anyone, please correct me if I am wrong about this.
