Re: [JAWS-Users] memo for the group
Yes Steve, I hear both of those work well too, I am happy now with Googlegroups, have no bounces other than appropriate ones and have gotten used to directly adding or deleting subscribers without great difficulty. It is a shame that current email practices, convoluted configurations and unfair blacklists prevent us from using Mailman to manage lists on our own domains, a solution both elegant and easy for us. Steve, That no longer happens with googlegroups.com and my experience is good since I change to it over a year ago. Re: [JAWS-Users] memo for the group
I just wanted to mention that the email list that Tom mentioned, which had difficulties for a prolonged period of time, did not have problems with people who had Gmail accounts. However, it, too, had its own server and there were several providers, including mine, who blocked its messages as spam. The problem was solved by moving the list to io Groups. Re: [JAWS-Users] memo for the group
Over the years we started out on Yahoo, then moved to Google groups. Then went to Mailman and once or twice I don't even remember any more moved it again to other Mailman servers. The last time almost 9 years ago. Those last take some serious time to configure before making the change. We'll stick it out on the current server for the present time as I have a good deal going. -Original Message- From: Tom Behler Sent: Thursday, July 20, 2017 8:20 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] memo for the group David: For what it's worth, I have a g-mail address, and I continue to be good on the list, at least as far as I can tell. if you log on directly to your gmail (web mail) when the messages go into the spam folder and click on not spam then maybe it won't bounce any more because when you do this the list will be put in the gmail whight list. *** one reason gmail is marked as spam is when you put a email address in the cc or bcc field. with me it will go into the spam folder every time. -Original Message- From: Maria Campbell Sent: Thursday, July 20, 2017 4:17 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] memo for the group Just earlier this week I had to reconfirm my membership on this list from bouncing. Re: [JAWS-Users] memo for the group
Do you have SPF, DKIM and DMARC configured for the domain? They're all interrelated measures that together help to establish the authenticity of outbound messages. They're also used by the better e-mail providers and ISPs to distinguish legitimate senders from spammers. I took the time to configure them for my domain, and I haven't since had legitimate mail rejected by mail providers as far as I know. On the other hand, I'm not responsible for any high-traffic mailing lists. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of David Ferrin Sent: Thursday, July 20, 2017 6:55 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] memo for the group We have been hit in the past by email providers bouncing messages from this domain, but today ranks as the worst in our history. Just earlier this week I had to reconfirm my membership on this list from bouncing. I don't know how to add the domain to my gmail, so I hope someone else does. lucky1i...@gmail.com "Preach the Gospel, and when necessary use words!" --St. Francis On 7/20/2017 6:54 PM, David Ferrin wrote: We have been hit in the past by email providers bouncing messages from this domain, but today ranks as the worst in our history. We have never had a problem with GMail before but they sure made up for it this morning. If anybody has contact with one of the people who have been removed ask them to contact GMail if they can and ask this domain be placed on their white list or whatever they happen to call it. A few more days like this and there won’t be much of a point in going on. I remember as a little boy my dad saying you can’t fight city hall. In this case you can’t fight being black listed. Re: [JAWS-Users] memo for the group
David, was this with all G-mail users, or just some of them. I'm using G-mail for the Jaws Users list, but I still received your message, which leads me to assume that I'm still on the list. Can you confirm?
