Re: [JAWS-Users] Folder List View and Folder Details View and Outlook Question
Hi Ted, concerning your first question. One way of setting the folder view to either list or details is to use the following shortcuts. If your computer's display language is American english, then the shortcuts are ctrl+shift+5, and ctrl+shift+6 respectively. If your computer's display language is UK english, then the shortcuts are ctrl+alt+5, and ctrl+alt+6, respectively. David. original message: [JAWS-Users] Folder List View and Folder Details View and Outlook Question Dear List: I have windows ten and have started to use Jaws. First, within folders, how do I change the view to either list view or detail view? Second, sometimes, not always, when composing a message in Outlook 2016, if I want to review the message, the main arrow keys do not speak what I just wrote. Re: [JAWS-Users] I wont to chane the star Punctuation to say something else
Hi Robin, To edit the dictionary you're wanting, try the following: 1. Open the application you want to work with, & press, Insert / Jaws key + D, to open that application's dictionary manager. 2. You should be on the, Add... button, so press the spacebar to open. Press your backspace key a couple of times to make sure any text that might be here is deleted. 3. Type the, * , star symbol. Now I'm assuming you're meaning the star symbol you get by typing, Shift + 8, on the number row above the main keyboard. 4. Tab to, Replacement Word, press the spacebar to open, enter the replacement text, UnReconciled in a home budgit. 5. Tab to, Okay, press enter, press, Control + S, to save, & Alt +F4, to close. If this doesn't work let us know what happened. Using the above steps it worked on my Windows 7 Pro computer. Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. Hi Metthew Via Jawskey+v you enter the Quicksettings. Under "Editingoption" you can change the keyboardecho. Also via the shortcut Jawskey+2 you can toggle between the different keyboardecho options. Jawskey is mostly the inserkey, but can also be setup as another key as for example Capslock. Hope this helps. Re: [JAWS-Users] I wont to change the star Punctuation to say something else
I don't know if this will work for you or not as I have not tried it. One thing that I thought of doing if I wanted to do that is to create a new voice scheme and naming it something to remind me of where I would want to use it. A scheme can be set up to do a lot of things. I don't know if reading the, star, is one of them. But if it is and you created a scheme for reading that page then all you would have to do is to change to your personalized scheme and, Walla , you would have it. Just a thought, because I have not investigated this at all. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Robin Sent: Saturday, March 03, 2018 3:26 AM To: jaws list Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] I wont to chane the star Punctuation to say something else I just want the star simble to say UnReconciled in a home budgit which I use. Hi Robin, I have been experimenting with the, *, dictionary tweak, & Jaws only reported UnReconciled when typing a password if I tweaked the Default JDF dictionary manager, but not when I tweaked the Word JDF dictionary manager. The Word JDF dictionary manager was my experimental application. [JAWS-Users] the stars in password fields
what i would like to see is a way to turn off the stars all together for passwords and speak the keys i press. the sites below do not have the option to show the passwords i have typed in. i am getting sick and tired of haveing to type my passwords in note pad and copy and pasteing them into the password fields because it won't speak the keys i press. at least window eyes has the option to speak the keys i press. and don't tell me i need to learn how to type without speech. many web sites only give you 3 chances to get the password before you are locked out of the accounts. my bank ,c v s pharmicy, office of personnel management ,kiser etc. all require me to call them to prove who i am.. then wait up to 10 days for them to snail mail me a tempory password before i can access these accounts. where is the security in this when i have to have someone else read back the pin number that was mailed to me so i can record them to a voice recorder and type them in when i get home? But, if I changed the tweak to,* , a star then a space, in the default JDF dictionary manager, then used a space after the star in the Word application JDF dictionary then everything worked as it should all the way around. What I'm trying to say is if you want the,*, to say, UnReconciled in a home budgit, then add a space after the star in the application dictionary, but then you'll also have to put a star then a space in front of any entry in the application as well. If I've totally confused you by now, just let the list know what application you want to use, & I'll type up a set of steps that'll get it done for you. Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. Hi Net bat, I understand where you're coming from, & maybe a program called, Asterisk Logger, from the website below will help with what you need. http://www.nirsoft.net Out of curiosity, don't the websites you mentioned allow you to create your own passwords? Then you could save them in a password protected file, & paste whenever you would need them. Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool. i'll try that. *** yes the sites let me use my own passwords. but i have a text file with the passwords in them, in code that only i know. even so i have to copy a password i didn't remember into note pad and decode them before i can copy and paste them into the password fields. i tried last pass for awhile. but it kept forgetting some of the passwords it stored. thats why i have been storing them myself in a text file that i can backup to flash drives ,drop box, one drive and carbinite etc. -Original Message- From: Mike B. Re: [JAWS-Users] the stars in password fields
Hi Net bat, Below is a direct download link for a very simple Password storing program from the Jaws-Users website. I've been using Passkeeper for years, & it hasn't let me down yet. It does have a size linit, I think it's around 125 entries, but you can always start a new Passkeeper if necessary, which I had to do. 11.
