Re: [jdev] help us fix jabberd2 and get $500
Hello, - just go on this url: http://mail.jabber.org/mailman/listinfo/jdev - give your email in the field at the bottom. - then follow the procedure to unsubscribe. It's true that there should be a footer added automatically at the bottom of every email sent to the list with the most common commands of the list (like unsubscribe) and this url. I don't care as I am no more on any list thanks to the forum :p, but at the time where I was repeatedly subscribing/unsubscribing to the Jabber lists, I was always looking for this url through the xmpp.org website and it is a boring way of doing. ;-) -- Jehan Jehan's Profile: http://www.jabberforum.org/member.php?userid=16911 View this thread: http://www.jabberforum.org/showthread.php?t=141

Somehow I've always thought that people who are smart enough to write code are smart enough to figure out how to unsubscribe from a list they've subscribed to in the first place. That assumption may not be valid, so I'll add back the per-message footers (which BTW prevent a message from being properly signed with digital signatures, oh well). We already do include those links in the standards-compliant place to put them - the List-Unsubscribe header - and in our case we actually list two (count 'em, two!) differently schemed URIs. In a way, that's for sure. In another way: - write code does not require to be smart. You can be completely stupid and write code which works well enough. This is for me a wrong assumption, but very common to this society, than thinking that technical/scientific jobs (this means mainly engineers) mean cleverness. - When you don't use a lot mailing lists (which is my case), you don't know necessarily by heart the typical commands for the mailing lists bots. For my own, as I said, I always go back to the xmpp.org website, then follow the sidebar menu's links (Discuss, etc.), to arrive to the html interface for managing one's subscription (note while we are on the subject that his Discuss page is not really up to date, some of the new mailing lists are missing, like the social one, and I always have to modify by hands urls of other lists' links in order to access the management and archives pages). But yes in other ways, the people (and they are many) who write to everybody in the list are not the most resourceful because they could have searched a little without disturbing everybody and creating such discussion. But I don't think they should be blamed for this. Jehan -- Jehan Jehan's Profile: http://www.jabberforum.org/member.php?userid=16911 View this thread: http://www.jabberforum.org/showthread.php?t=141

I've seen some mailing lists where signatures still work. On fink-devel the text appended by sourceforge is just marked as not signed. Mutt says Warning: Part of this message has not been signed. and marks the signed content with This data has been signed and End of signed data This works for multipart/signed MIME messages by simply adding an extra text/plain section to the end. --- James pgpg2wQO80axo.pgp Description: PGP signature
