I can reproduce the crash

- if a distribution group that I enter in the To: field contains an address
where the optional 'real name' part contains an umlaut (äöü), like
"Peter Schön "
- if I select such an address from the 'recent addresses' list that opens when
typing in the To: field
- if I just entder a string containing an umlaut (schö) in the To: field

kmail says its version is 5.7.3 (which I cannot select from the dropdown menu),
the debian package has its version at 4:17.12.3-1 if that helps

[plasmashell] [Bug 393027] New: Plasma crashed when I clicked on an orphan icon from another distro (distro hopping)

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393027

Bug ID: 393027
Summary: Plasma crashed when I clicked on an orphan icon from
another distro (distro hopping)
   Product: plasmashell
   Version: 5.12.4
  Platform: Neon Packages
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Keywords: drkonqi
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk
  Reporter: rick.g...@gmail.com
CC: plasma-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: 1.0

Application: plasmashell (5.12.4)

Qt Version: 5.10.0
Frameworks Version: 5.44.0
Operating System: Linux 4.13.0-38-generic x86_64
Distribution: KDE neon User Edition 5.12

-- Information about the crash:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:

On a freshly-installed KDE Neon, I tried to click on a quicklaunch icon (quick
launcher applet) that pointed to an application I hadn't installed on this
distro yet (I had Linux Mint on my other partition, which had an earlier
version of KDE plasma installed - so it had my quicklaunch icons there, except
Clementine which I hadn't installed on this partition). But I had JUST
installed said application, even though the icon hadn't refreshed after I
finished installing. So I think I right-clicked to see if the icon would
refresh, or maybe I moved the mouse a little and resulted in a drag, I'm not
sure. But this was after I clicked the icon and the application began loading.
Plasma crashed, and suddenly the application loaded before Plasma restarted.

2018-04-11 Thread Alvin Wong
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393013

The issue you have is that no tablet events are being sent to the
Krita canvas at all, so even when you can draw it has no pressure
sensitivity at all and thus cannot be considered to be working
properly.

Can you get a tablet log when Hi-DPI is switched off in Krita? I
cannot tell if it is even working at all.

This sounds like a helpful little feature to me, and I'd be happy to work on it
if others are on board with the idea.

Personally I'd prefer a variation of idea #2:

Left-clicking (or pen tap) on the "quick zoom" button would bring you to 100%
zoom as it currently does.

Right-clicking (or tablet equivalent) on that same button would pop open a
little drop down menu with other the other zoom options you listed (fit width,
fit page, 25%, etc.).

[kfile] [Bug 166697] KDE4 file dialogs is missing seperate folders view

2018-04-11 Thread Nach
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=166697

I agree with you the default should be what people see elsewhere so KDE doesn't
seem alien. However I think KDE would be better with having this feature as an
option (which is not the default) as it is did back in KDE 3. Windows used to
have it, and one of the reasons I stopped using Windows is that they dropped
it.

I kind of miss the days when we used to joke about how KDE never met an option
it didn't like.

>But thanks for replying on this 10-year old bug!

Well, I'm still here, and I still care!
I'm actually amazed someone is still looking at these after not hearing
anything in years. I for the most part stopped filing bug reports with KDE
because they rarely seem to be looked at let alone fixed.

I'm finding some KDE 5 applications segfault at times, the file copy dialog
seems to be leaking RAM until it finishes copying, or Dolphin usability is way
poorer than it should be, but I didn't bother taking the time to report things
anymore, because it didn't look like the current KDE developers care about
stability and usability like they used to.

2018-04-11 Thread Nach
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=166694

I'm not entirely convinced some kind of context menu when dragging and dropping
these isn't helpful, but I do agree that since the early KDE 4, things are much
better now. The ability to edit an entry in the places menu allows you to get
what you want, and dragging and dropping between applications and say Dolphin
now has saner defaults.

At this point the feature isn't really as must-have as it was 10 years back
when I made it.

Thanks for reviewing this.

2018-04-11 Thread Nach
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=166697

>If you want folders separate in your open/save panels, they can be sorted that
>way: click the settings icon in the top-right corner of the window, then go to
>Sorting, then check "Folders First".

That doesn't separate them, that just sorts them. If you have many directories
somewhere together with the file you want to open, you have to scroll past all
of them till you find the files.

If they are in two separate panels, if you want to open a file, that right side
pane is only showing the files, and there's less to go through. In cases where
there's many directories and few files, it's much easier to find what you want
when the directories are already filtered out.

Not sure this is necessary, and anyway the color of the icons is dependent on

This seems unnecessary; exposing such a technical implementation detail of how
changing permissions works under the hood doesn't seem like it would actually
benefit anyone.

[valgrind] [Bug 393023] New: callgrind_control risks using the wrong vgdb

2018-04-11 Thread John Reiser
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393023

Bug ID: 393023
Summary: callgrind_control risks using the wrong vgdb
   Product: valgrind
   Version: 3.13 SVN
  Platform: unspecified
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: callgrind
  Assignee: josef.weidendor...@gmx.de
  Reporter: jrei...@bitwagon.com
  Target Milestone: ---

The perl script 'callgrind_control' sub-invokes 'vgdb' free in $PATH:
  open LIST, "vgdb $vgdbPrefixOption -l|";
  open RESULT, "vgdb $vgdbPrefixOption --pid=$pid $vgdbCommand|";
which might invoke a mismatching vgdb (stale version in abandoned directory,
etc.)

It would be safer to look for vgdb first in the installation tree of valgrind
tools, typically the same tree in which the running 'callgrind_control'
resides.

[Low priority, but the problem has happened.]

[kfile] [Bug 166697] KDE4 file dialogs is missing seperate folders view

2018-04-11 Thread Nate Graham
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=166697

Split view allows the two panes to display different directories.

If you want folders separate in your open/save panels, they can be sorted that
way: click the settings icon in the top-right corner of the window, then go to
Sorting, then check "Folders First".

[kfile] [Bug 166697] KDE4 file dialogs is missing seperate folders view

2018-04-11 Thread Nach
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=166697

If you don't want to add the feature, that's fine, but your reason doesn't add
up.

>where the primary purpose is to navigate to a specific window, folder, or file

It's easier to navigate when the directories are cleanly separated from the
files. Hence why the feature existed in the first place and why I asked for it
to return.

>Split view is useful for managing and comparing files in multiple directories

I have no idea how it's useful for that. You have a single list of files, what
exactly are you comparing it with?

>or moving/copying files between them

Since split view is incapable of "moving/copying" between "them", them being on
the left side only directories and the right side being only files, where one
cannot appear in the other, I have no idea what you're talking about.

To me it sounds like you're thinking of something other than KDE 3's split
viewing window that was provided during open/save.

[neon] [Bug 393022] New: Installer UI Issue - Missing password text when choosing LVM and Encryption

2018-04-11 Thread James Chinn
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=393022

Bug ID: 393022
Summary: Installer UI Issue - Missing password text when
choosing LVM and Encryption
   Product: neon
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: Live/Install images
  Assignee: neon-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: chinn...@gmail.com
CC: j...@jriddell.org, neon-b...@kde.org, sit...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

Hi All,

ISO of Latest stable User version, Downloaded from website today
live USB Created on Ubuntu 17.10 using unetbootin

Found the issue when installing from USB on a HP Envy 13

When choosing "Guided - Setup LVM And Encryption" the Two boxes appear to allow
a password to be set, However there is no text to indicate what these boxes are
actually for.

Putting a password into the boxes allows for the installer to continue and it
is not a breaking bug.

Kind Regards

J Chinn
