OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: grave
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: unassigned-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: opensou...@zaghini.it
CC: sit...@kde.org

Thanks for the response.

Can you recommend a way to get rid of these superfluous embedded fonts from PDF
files that were already affected by this bug?

I made dozens of time-consuming annotations to a PDF file, saving it dozens of
times in between, before i realized (because okular became very unresponsive!)
that the file size had grown from 6.4 MB to... 220 MB (!). It would be very
time-consuming to redo all annotations with the fixed poppler version... but it
is also be very unpleasant having to deal with such a huge file! Thanks.

Thank you for the bug report!

However Plasma 5.24.7 is no longer eligible for support or maintenance from
KDE; supported versions are 5.27, and 5.27 or newer. Please upgrade to a
supported version as soon as your distribution makes it available to you.
Plasma is a fast-moving project, and bugs in one version are often fixed in the
next one.

If you need support for Plasma 5.24.7, please contact your distribution, who
bears the responsibility of providing support for older releases that are no
longer supported by KDE.

If you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to a supported version, feel
free to re-open this bug report.

Pass exivData as argument to avoid crash in exiv2 library

This should fix the bug reported at https://github.com/Exiv2/exiv2/issues/2649.

Exiv2 will be made more robust against this, but this commit should get
Gwenview unstuck in the meantime.

[frameworks-kconfig] [Bug 471533] New: KDesktopFile should be parsing Exec= line differently

2023-06-28 Thread ratijas
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=471533

Bug ID: 471533
Summary: KDesktopFile should be parsing Exec= line differently
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: frameworks-kconfig
   Version: unspecified
  Platform: Other
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: matt...@mjdsystems.ca
  Reporter: m...@ratijas.tk
CC: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY

After recent update[1] of scrcpy, I get these warnings when e.g. launching
systemsettings:

> kf.config.core: "KConfigIni: In file
> /usr/share/applications/scrcpy-console.desktop, line 8: " "Invalid escape
> sequence \"\\\"\"."
> kf.config.core: "KConfigIni: In file /usr/share/applications/scrcpy.desktop,
> line 8: " "Invalid escape sequence \"\\\"\"."

Or with a patch[2] that improves readability:

> kf.config.core: KConfigIni: In file /usr/share/applications/scrcpy.desktop,
> line 8: Invalid escape sequence: «\"»

scrcpy.desktop has the following Exec line:

> Exec=/bin/sh -c "\"\\$SHELL\" -i -c scrcpy"

It seems that escape sequences are fine, and it's our parser that is broken.
According to the documentation at FDO [3], Exec= line has some special rules
about escape sequences.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Parse a file that contains the line above with KConfig, KDesktopFile or
KService.

OBSERVED RESULT
Warnings, poorly escaped resulting string.

EXPECTED RESULT
Adherence to standards, no warnings.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.240.0 (kf6/master)
Qt Version: 6.5.1

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

[1]:
https://github.com/Genymobile/scrcpy/commit/d2b7315ba693e11bd9b9a0421a75b7df8a31c5cc
[2]: https://invent.kde.org/frameworks/kconfig/-/merge_requests/203
[3]:
https://specifications.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/desktop-entry-spec-latest.html#exec-variables

In kservice.cpp, the `init()` method fetches "Exec" entry using regular
`desktopGroup.readEntry("Exec", QString());` call, without any specialized
processing. It seems wrong. KDesktopFile has many `read$Thing` methods, but
Exec is not one of them. Looking at the added complexity of special escaping
rules, it probably should have that as well.

And before you ask, no — KIO::DesktopExecParser is NOT a solution. It takes an
instance of KService in constructor, which is already messed up by that time.

works because my ultra wide is hdmi only and i was originally running it off a
display port to hdmi active converter, Bought a 4k monitor for gaming and this
is what happened.
2. I physcially can not enable the monitor in system settings. I click enable
move the position to where i want it, click apply, freezes for a second. click
a new tab in system settings, come back and its not enabled, as if it never
was.
I don't now what to do or where to the config files are, but I just tested and
it works perfectly out of the box on gnome wayland, but not on Plasma wayland,
(x11 just crashes when i click apply)
I would submit screenshots but that doesn't matter. Is there a log or something
I can submit?

No worries, you're not doing wrong for asking.

You're pretty much right. You can imagine it as if there is the releases or
versions, (5.27.1, 5.27.2.. etc.) and those are a combined effort to fix
bugs, add features or clean up the code and so on. What goes into these
versions is dependent on what's relevant at that time, it's just a continuous
development process in which a lot of people and the community in general are
involved.

A fix for this bug has been developed and proposed as an addition to the next
possible version. When that will be, I actually don't know myself. Someone has
to approve the request first to make sure it's nothing malicious, has proper
code style, quality and so on.

One thing you could do, if you want to use the fix earlier than officially
released, is build it yourself (from the branch the merge request, that I
linked, resides on) after making sure it's nothing malicious. That's why open
source is so helpful.

[frameworks-kglobalaccel] [Bug 471527] New: Shortcuts to launch apps not working on X11

2023-06-28 Thread I don't need a name

Bug ID: 471527
Summary: Shortcuts to launch apps not working on X11
Classification: Frameworks and Libraries
   Product: frameworks-kglobalaccel
   Version: 5.106.0
  Platform: Manjaro
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: general
  Assignee: kdelibs-b...@kde.org
  Reporter: vladma...@gmail.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
After some update I noticed that Ctrl+Alt+T don't launch konsole. Then I
realized that shortcuts that launch other apps don't work too. Other shortcuts
(like window manager stuff and alt+F1 for Kickoff) work fine.
I have a calculator and a special "omen" buttons on my laptop (shown as "Launch
8" and "Launch 4" when I press them) and if I assign them as shortcuts to apps
they work fine, even if I add a modifier (Like "Ctrl + Launch 4"). Modifiers
with normal keys (like Ctrl+D or Meta+E) don't work.
Under wayland everything works fine.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Press some key combination that was setup as a shortcut to launch an app

OBSERVED RESULT
Nothing happens

EXPECTED RESULT
The app runs

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I tried rebooting, resetting them, switching to unstable Manjaro branch (
that's 5.107.0) and back, deleting .cache and .config/khotkeysrc and
./config/kglobalshortcutsrc, changing keyboard layouts and nothing helps.

Git commit 6145804afb235eecb6a7ccf36c602c23c6038289 by Tony Wasserka.
Committed on 27/06/2023 at 09:05.
Pushed by ahiemstra into branch 'master'.

Fix indicated sort order for numeric columns

Previously, the ordering function was purposely inverted to ensure a certain
initial sort order for numeric columns. However, this causes the wrong sort
indicator icon to be displayed. The desired initial ordering can instead be
adjusted by exposing Qt::InitialSortOrderRole in the ProcessModel.

Me too. An unfiltered/non-smoothed view is very important when viewing pixel

I'm not really familiar with the process here so I apologize for asking the
obvious. Am I understanding correctly that now we're just waiting for it to be
merged, so (a future) update will fix it?

Summary: Automatically turning screen on back after "xset dpms
force off" without any user input
Classification: Plasma
   Product: KScreen
   Version: 5.27.5
  Platform: Debian stable
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: NOR
 Component: common

Relevent "journalctl" records

SUMMARY

Very self-explanatory in the previous "Summary" Section"

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Under KDE plasma desktop environement, open a terminal, and execute "xset
dpms force off"
2. The screen goes blank, followed by showing "no HDMI signal". (Very good till
now)
3. After a couple of seconds (about 5-10 sec), without any user input, the
screen turns on and show the KDE desktop environment again.

This phenomenon holds even by executing: bash -c "sleep 1; xset dpms force off"

OBSERVED RESULT

Screen re-turning on spontaneously without any user input (both keyboard &
mouse)

EXPECTED RESULT

The screen should stay "Turn off" untill user input.

Windows:
macOS:
Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian GNU/Linux 12(Bookworm)
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I will attach the relevent records from "journalctl" during this event.

Just to be sure, I deleted ~/.config/labplot2rc first

1) Run Labplot2 (with Czech localization)
2) File -> Save as... test (name of the file)

That's all. It crashed immediately.

Nothing else.
It happens to me all the time.
