You can make the menubar visible with ctrl-M. In Kubuntu 17.04, the menubar is
definitely visible by default. If your distro is shipping GwenView without the
menubar hidden by default, that's something you need to take up with them.

I agree that there is a usability improvement we can make in that when the
menubar is hidden, there's no obvious way to get it back or access its
functions. That's tracked by https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=211304

This seems to be related to the feature "Capture the current pop-up only". I
can confirm this bug still exists in Plasma 5.10.5.

I'm running KDE neon 5.10.5 with KDE frameworks 5.37.0 and Qt 5.9.1.

Thanks! Also I'd note that kwin itself works based on the logic that the
standard menu and sub-menu should appears the same screen where the application
is. I see this when the standard menu doesn't touch the edge of the screen. I
this case the sub-menu appears the other side of the standard menu and doesn't
flow to the other screen.

Semantic information has ratings and comments, which are important, so we can't
hide it entirely. But yeah, that comments box is huge. We could definitely
allow you to resize the separator, or just make the comments box much smaller.

Confirmed. Note that ~/Photos is actually selected, it's just that the tree
view doesn't show it properly, because /home/ doesn't get expanded.
Part of the problem is this ugly file picker panel that starts rooted at /
instead of ~. I think we should use different options when calling up the file
picker. That may solve the issue altogether.

Simple test case:  use kioclient5 to open a remote file in an application that
uses %f or %F, not %u or %U, in its destop file:

$ kioclient5 exec 'smb://host/dir/test.kmz'

The file is opened in Marble as expected, which has Exec=marble %F in its
desktop file.  However, a dialogue also immediately appears saying "The file
has been modified, do you want to upload the changes?".

The significant parts are those marked with "###", showing that somehow the
watch is being installed before the ioslave has actually started to copy the
file.  The file does not exist at this time, so when the file is actually
copied the daemon receives a "dirty" signal for it, which puts up the dialogue.

This dialogue is coming from kiod5, not the fallback in kioclient5.  I have
verified this by using xprop and checking the WM_CLASS and _NET_WM_PID of the
dialogue.  I have also verified wih strace that, when kiod5 is first told to
watch the file, it does not yet exist:

Thanks for the prompt response, I think most of the people would agree that
this behavior causes a mess on your desktop. Also a good example my current
situation that I leave turned off my right screen most of the time or I watch
videos full screen on it so I can't see the sub-menu or it's just annoying on
the full screen streaming in this case. To explain more clearly, you want to
use multiple screens because you want to be more organized, separate  windows,
applications, etc therefore they aren't mess up with each other. Actually I
don't understand why is it questionable that this is a problem. It's clear,
it's a problem and it's clear  that nobody use multiple screen because the
sub-menu from monitor 1 a cool appealing thing on the other application on
monitor 2.
If you guys think it isn't that important issue what should has been solved
than I understand but I don't see the point why should we discuss unequivocal
things.

Dolphin takes about ~1.5 seconds to start on my 8-core machine with ssd, and
another second to if you pick File->New Window to open a new copy of dolphin.
It really disappointing result, compared to similar file mangers. I've tried
disabling previews and playing with 'Sorting Mode' and other options, nothing
helps to improve startup time.

Couldn't reproduce in GwenView 17.11.70 in KDE Neon. Looks fixed! When I

It all depends on what plugins you have installed. Default settings would be
controlled by your distro. If I install kipi-plugins in Kubuntu 17.04, the menu
becomes populated with a zillion plugins.

Interesting bug. I can't reproduce it in KDE Neon with Gwenview 17.11.70,
though. Gwenview properly opens showing both files, and no .desktop files
appear in /tmp.

When edits are being made to an audio or video file, there will often be an
audible stutter just after the cut point. This seems to affect some
formats/codecs more than others, and these stutters end up in the rendered
video.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new Kdenlive project, and save it.
2. Edit the saved .kdenlive file by replacing each instance of the word
"combine" with "sum" to remove bug 371849 from the equation.
3. Re-open the Kdenlive project.
4. From the attached audio file archive, add "sine-440-30s.flac" to an audio
track.
5. Double-click the clip and set the crop start to: 00:00:21:11.
6. Play the project

Result: There is a stutter at the beginning of the clip that should not be
there. This stutter gets rendered when exporting video. This bug does not seem
to affect .wav or .ogg files. MP3 files will glitch after the first
playthrough, but the glitch is not rendered to the exported video.

Possibly related:
1. Set the crop start of the .flac file to 00:00:29:05. The first playthrough
of the clip will stutter, but subsequent playthroughs have no audio until the
very end. This missing audio glitch is not rendered to the exported video.
