The flickering that occurs is a rapid change in the brightness of the screen, in a random, persistently manner (it never stops). Not so often the screen goes all white and quickly returns to normal. It's interesting to mention that on Ubuntu 16.04 (kernel 4.4) the bug appears to be fixed, as the flickering does not occur. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1554613 Title: Screen flickers on XPS 13 9350/9550 (Intel Skylake/Broadwell GPU) Status in Linux: Fix Released Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: *** Temporary workaround *** Install Kernel from the following location: - http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.6-yakkety/ OR Perform the following: - $ apt-add-repository "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/canonical-kernel-team/ppa/ubuntu yakkety main" - $ echo -en "Package: *\nPin: release o=LP-PPA-canonical-kernel-team-ppa\nPin-Priority: -1\n" >> /etc/apt/preferences.d/canonical-kernel-team-ubuntu-ppa-yakkety - $ apt update - $ apt install linux-image-extra-4.6.0-6-generic linux-headers-4.6.0-6-generic linux-tools-4.6.0-6-generic ``` There was a typo in instructions (/etc/preferences.d should have been /etc/apt/preferences.d). But any movements or clicks are not detected. The really weird part is that the touchpad STARTS working after waking from suspend. The touchpad works flawlessly in Windows 10 (didn't work in Windows 7), and external mice also work in both Ubuntu and Windows. The problem happens in Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 14.04 didn't detect the touchpad at all in xinput and /proc/bus/input/devices. I have tried several GRUB command line parameters that I've seen recommended on the internet, such as i8042.reset=1 i8042.nomux=1 i8042.noloop=1 psmouse.proto=bare, but none of them changed anything the touchpad didn't work when the system boots up, but it starts working after suspend. I've attached the outputs from xinput --list, /proc/bus/input/devices and synclient. The outputs don't change when I suspend and wake up the computer, the list of modules in lsmod also doesn't change. Public bug reported: After kernel upgrade to 4.4.0-45-generic, Wireless network does not apper on network manager. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1612762] Re: Asus K556UB-XX115D Elan Touchpad works only AFTER suspend
Hello, I had Ubuntu 16.06 installed on the same laptop ASUS X556UB and everything worked very well. It was a clean installation. Unfortunatelly I reinstalled it and now I have dualboot Debian 8 Jesie with Windows 10 on the same HDD. On Win there is no problem verything works normally. On Debian I have very similiar problem with touchpad. It does not work at all. Not even after suspend because laptop will not start after suspend so I deactivated it (I had this problem on Ubuntu, too). Plus there is also nothing like brightness adjustment, but it is probably some missing driver I am not able to find. I am sorry if I interupted, this is the first time I wrote to discusion. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to linux in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1612762 Title: Asus K556UB-XX115D Elan Touchpad works only AFTER suspend Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: After login, the touchpad is detected and shown in xinput --list and in /proc/bus/input/devices. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1637817] [NEW] WinTV HVR-900 S-Video input no longer works in with kernel 4.8
Public bug reported: Using TVTime or xawtv it looks like selecting S-Video input has no effect any more and the tuner remains on TV input (static). Sometimes the image from the S-Video input appears for a split second, but that's it. [Kernel-packages] [Bug 1437913] Re: 8086:095b [Lenovo ThinkPad X250] Wifi unstable on vivid with Intel 7265
Also having this same problem, with HP Envy 15 01:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 7265 (rev 61) Using latest firmware. Connection drops after a while of use, pages just stop loading, no indication the connection has dropped. Disabling and enabling the wifi fixes the issue. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kernel Packages, which is subscribed to wireless-regdb in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1437913 Title: 8086:095b [Lenovo ThinkPad X250] Wifi unstable on vivid with Intel 7265 Status in Linux: Unknown Status in linux package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in wireless-regdb package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in linux source package in Trusty: Invalid Status in wireless-regdb source package in Trusty: Confirmed Status in linux source package in Vivid: Invalid Status in wireless-regdb source package in Vivid: Confirmed Status in linux source package in Wily: Invalid Status in wireless-regdb source package in Wily: Confirmed Bug description: After upgrading from utopic to vivid beta, wifi on the Intel 7265 on my Thinkpad X250 has become unstable (linux-image 3.19.0-10.10, linux-firmware 1.143): 03:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Wireless 7265 [8086:095b] (rev 59) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 [8086:5210] I'm seeing two primary problems: * On 5GHz 802.11ac, I'll get DEAUTH_LEAVING almost exactly every minute, followed by an immediate reconnect. * On both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, all network activity will cease after 10-20 minutes. A manual reconnect will temporarily fix network activity. This is complicated by the fact that the newer firmware requires kernel 3.19 and kernel 3.19 requires the iwlwifi-7265D*.ucode firmware instead of the old iwlwifi-7265*.ucode firmware, so it's not possible to mix/match older/newer kernel/firmware combinations, nor do a kernel bisect. FAOD, the latest utopic kernel/firmware combination (linux-image 3.16.0-33.44, linux-firmware 1.138.1) works fine, which I can use in vivid if I manually install them. I have tested ~kernel-ppa/mainline 3.19.3-031903.201503261036 and 4.0.0-04rc5.201503230035, which exhibit the same problems.
