I trust you'll have read the reply from David on 12 Jan. by now. In case you
haven't, here it is:

 Hi,
Try one of the latest snapshots of Kicad at

 http://kicad.1301.cz/

All you do is overwrite the executables in your present installation (back
them up first) with the ones from the downloaded
 snapshot archive.
I'm about to try this myself so I hope it works as well.
Theres a new release of Kicad being worked on at the moment. I think they are
aiming for the end of January or thereabouts.

 David.

Being totaly new in this group (signed in a few minutes ago) and with KICAD
(since yesterday) i also found the lack of undo function a great problem !
It's a MUST BE for any creative software.
Let's hope the authors will add this function soon !

Otherwise, i'm happy with the software but must get familiar with it !

process and knowing that any step I try is permanent really stifles the
creative process. No way I could use a layout program without it.

Does anyone know if an undo function is in the works?

2010-01-13 Thread jeffs_cc
I do that too, even with programs that do have a good undo function. However,
the major changes are not what I need the undo for. I mostly hand route my
boards, and am constantly deleting some traces to try to route them better,
then deciding that the original routing was better. If I delete a few traces to
try a new routing and then see that is not going to make things better, I don't
want to have to re-enter all the traces I just deleted. Having to think about
saving before every minor change like that just puts a damper on the creative
process. The undo/redo in the development version linked above seems to work
fine and is just what I needed.

To get around the lack of an undo, I always make checkpoints by saving
the board just before I am abuot to do something major (read that as:
stupid).  If I mess up, I just close without saving and reopen the latest
checkpoint.  It takes some discipline, but works better than any undo.

Hello,

I would like to try the latest snapshots of Kicad. However,
after replacing the .exe files (news are very smaller) in the right
directory, I got a message like “wxbase28u_gcc.custom.dll not found”.

What may I do?

Many thanks for all,

Jean-Paul

Immediately a report: French characters like “éèà” and “ ’ ” are written as

David and team,
Another newbie suggestion, for people who want to conveniently browse the
component list,
Today when I
click on Place a component and then
click somewhere on the schematics
I get a component selection menu
Then if I click on List all I go to the Select lib menu
Then if I Select a library I go to the Select Component menu.
But if I do not find my part in that library there is no back to Select Lib
button.
I have to click cancel and start all over again from the beginning.
It would be convenient if I hit the back button and go on to choose some other
lib in the list of libs

It would useful for component browsers
