By default link will use MARC 999c (for MARC21).
Do you have the biblionumber linked to this field ?

Hi,

can you verify that it's different in Koha itself? It might be visible when you 
edit the record and try to delete the character.

It sounds like your character might be in a decomposed Unicode normalization 
form (NFD vs. NFC).

Hi,

SQL pulling is that perl daemon will run each 10 seconds a SQL query to 
check for new jobs.

So the jobs may start a few seconds later than with rabbitMQ.
For a small single koha server it looks like it is not a problem to 
avoid rabbitMQ.
We at Biblibre have a patch to avoid warns when message broker is 
undefined :

Tags generated by XSLT must be XTML so no  alone, 
Otherwise you may do this with  tags and some CSS

published in our various course handbooks. Students were cutting and pasting 
from the reading list into our OPAC but the titles were not being found when we 
knew we held the titles. We found the problem was down to some of the 
apostrophes being the right single quotation mark (U+2019 in unicode) instead 
of the apostrophe (U+0027). In effect what was being handed to our OPAC 
contained a 'spelling mistake'.

I asked our support company: “What do you recommend here? Is there a way of 
telling Koha to see the right single quotation mark (U+2019) as being the same 
as the apostrophe (U+0027)? Indeed if there is, would such an action even be 
sensible?”

They responded: “In theory, it would be possible to map the right single 
quotation mark to apostrophe in the Zebra config files. However, I would be 
reluctant to go down that route, the apostrophe character already causes enough 
pain! […]’

I have no idea how the right single quotation mark is being inserted as the 
various keyboards in our office for use with PCs don’t appear to have key 
offering this character. The character could be input via the Alt-0146 
combination, but I doubt that this method was used by the handbook authors.

Maybe your problem is like ours- that the apostrophes are not all apostrophes. 
Which reminds me… I have to contact our course handbook authors to discuss 
this. I somehow have to explain this and ask them not to use the wrong 
character going forward.

You may think of creating a Docker container with Debian/Ubuntu and use 
packages.

That's great, but I'm wondering if someone regulary has a look to the votes?


Bugzilla votes are problematic, because there is no way to promise anyone that a bug with 
a lot of votes will get worked on. It's kind of like when someone posts on an enhancement 
bug saying "Why isn't anyone working on this?" Which bugs are worked on depends 
entirely on who is being paid or who has volunteered.

I like the idea of highlighting bugs which are popular in votes, but I think if 
we had something like a regular email to the mailing list we'd have to make it 
clear that it was informational and folks who are interested should see about 
sponsoring the work somehow.

Note that if you use system preference 'QueryWeightFields' any search 
will be surrounded with quotes automatically.

Hi

Ubuntu release cycle is different from Debian somehow.

I advice you to look at LTS versions of Ubuntu.
Koha supports 18.04, 20.04 and will likely support 22.04.
Those versions are safe for many years, and it is easy to jump from a 
LTS to another.

Hi,

We at Biblibre have several big libraries with ES.
We have a 3 nodes cluster very powerfull.
It works well even with UNIMARC ;)

One note : only MARC fields in mapping are indexed.
In Zebra, all MARC fields are indexed in search field "Any".
This can be a bug or a feature ^^

Community actually works on support for ES7 and had a test for OpenSearch.

Hi,

We advice to enable the system preference "QueryWeightFields".
It will search given text surrounded with double quotes, limiting the 
erors because of CCL syntax characters :

Also in relevence sort it will give priority to title.

Do not use //datafield[@tag="650"]/@ind2 because if there are several 
650 values will be contatenated so not equal to 4.

You may check that some important MARC fields are not hidden in OPAC (in 
biblio framework settings) : 100$a and 001 (containing biblionumber).

Looks like your database "library" has some issues.
The version is indeed stored in database to compare with sources.
Looks like "library" version is 21.06.00.006, so previous database 
upgrade failed also ?

Hi,

One of our MARC21 customer noticed that MARC field 648 in not searchable 
as subject.


I see this is reported in :
https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=14689

Should I create a patch to add indexing in "Subject" ?

The Koha community is proud to announce the release of Koha 20.11.11 

It is a maintenance release ️

The Debian packages will soon be available 

Next month is end of cycle and begin of new one.
20.11.12 will be my last release because I upgrade to Release Manager,

The 20.11.x maintenance branch is preparing for 20.11.11 release 

This means it's the right time to head over to the translation platform:

Keep in mind that translations must be done with priority on higher 
version 21.05 
