KR> Cross-Country flying
1 problem with a KR is where will you put the 12 inch N#s? (required on a US reg. plane) I don't know if on the top and bottom of wing is still good.?You need those to cross the ATTIS.?I had?18?Gals of fuel, 5 in each wing stub and?8 in the header?tank. My bladder has a 3 hr timer on it. KR> Cross-Country flying
If you want a DEPENDABLE cross country put an 0200 in. You can cruise around 160?to 170?mph. Mine would burn about 5 gph. It is not very big inside but by your self there is room. Add an autopilot if you?plane on traveling long. It was never easy looking at charts or Airport directories when needed especially going west.? I know I am going to catch a lot of flak for the engine choice but read past post on engine failures in the KR. I had?5 in VW,s 2 were hapi conversions and 1 in a C75,?Should have not put a metal blade on that one. If the folks in?Talhequal OK read this what happened to 197RS On Saturday, October 10, 2015 3:58 PM, T. W. What range are you guys seeing out of your actual aircraft? Would I know it may not be what it was designed for, but for a single guy like me, I'm looking at the option of using it as an extended transporter. Also, what speeds could I expect with the traditional VW/Revmaster 2100 engine? Thanks! Trevor ___ Search the KRnet Archives at http://tugantek.com/archmailv2-kr/search. KR> Batteries
The last email I sent to the net with the subject line "Batteries" was sent accidentally. It was unfinished, a draft. It got sent by mistake and was just getting started. I'll finish it and submit it when it's finished but please ignore the previous incomplete version. Gluejam tells me I've endorsed lithium batteries in that email and I didn't mean to do that at all. I'll explain my thoughts about it all soon so it's all very fresh in my mind, (to the extent I have one). Thanks, Mike KSEE Meet the Graviteers: David Classen Hi, my name is David. Your alternator should be putting out at almost idle.. ?If not, it might be a regulator issue. ?Generators won't charge until the rpm.s increase to around 1400/1500, but that should not be the case with an alternator. I think you have a charging issue instead of a battery issue. ?Of course, when that goes on long enough, it will kill the battery. Just my .02.. KR> 2015 Gathering photos, link enclosed
Once again, thanks for posting photos of the Gathering. Lots of innovative ideas. Jeff Scott's airplane is always such a dazzler, too... it always photographs very beautifully air-to-air. I noticed that John Bouyea is wearing a KRNet polo shirt in a couple of the photos. A collector's item... I had those made and sold them many years ago. I don't think I even have mine anymore. -OZ
KR> Roger's carb
Great pictures from the Gathering, Mark! That carb on Roger's plane has had me zooming in to look at it from all angles for half an hour. No idea, but it's a side draft with mixture control and a choke. Looks like he has the mixture control set up like the Zenith, with a twisting of the cockpit knob to screw the needle in and out and a tension spring on the needle screw. The small tube coming off the bottom of the carb seems to be a balance tube going to one side of a diaphragm, so I would have guessed some sort of altitude compensator like the Bing (and the old Honda 450 CB450) but then why the mixture control? I dunno... maybe off a jet ski or snow-mo? Oscar Zuniga Medford, OR
