Just curious, what type of tail wheel spring do you have. Wow everybody flying

I am looking for ideas on how to latch my canopy. Any pics or ideas, I was
thinking of using something like the ch650 system but I remember reading
probably on this list that a handle protruding out the side of the aircraft
caused a problem. Would a handle on top at the rear also cause a problem? If
someone with a better understanding could explain the aerodynamics. Thanks in

2016-05-08 Thread Steven Bedford
Mark,
This is a iefis g3 firmware upgrade from mgl?s website. I believe it was ported
to the g2 iefis what is probably what you have.
Hope this helps?.

thereby reducing peak power at any one specific frequency. This aids in
suppressing radio RX noise from EFIS in compromised installations.

Don't get me started on the MGL iEFIS...it won't be pretty! I'll have
to write a web page on that, and it'll take months. Suffice it to say
that mine will change the FM radio in my hangar from perfect reception
of a local station to complete "white noise" as soon as I flip the iEFIS
on, and that's running off a backup battery with nothing else in the
circuit! And they think I have bad grounds, alternator, ignition,
whatever it takes...but that's not what my oscilloscope says, and the FM
radio agrees! And it goes WY deeper than RFI, trust me. More on
that as the web page progresses.

I had the confidence to just jump right in and get busy.

I would agree with Oscar. I did not have any fiberglass experience either
just spent a lot of time studying Mark L's website. Thanks again Mark. I
would highly recommend Mark's plastic sheet layup method helps keep the
cloth fibers aligned and does not allow the cloth to stretch and deform.
Study the plans and make sure you micro slurry the foam and squeegee the
cloth into the foam and make sure there is good contact between the spars
and resin/cloth.

I did exactly what Mark recommended. Move the aft spar farther back to
account for the longer hinge points.
Using Mark's templates I don't think that it was much more than an 1/8"
difference using the recommended
parts on several builders websites.

I purchased the kr cloth from acs and used aeropoxy resin. I would not be

KR> Fuel tank pick up and vent

2011-11-22 Thread Steven Bedford
Thanks for your input Joe,

I remember reading somewhere on WW site that the 32 would be ok for a stock
corvair.
The carb came with a kr2s project I had purchased and if it doesn't work out
I will
do something else. Thanks for the heads up on the vent being near the
exhaust
stream. I will check that when I get the engine on but shouldn't be a
problem.
That is a good note for the rest of us builders out there.

Thanks again,

Steven,I have many memory lapses, Is the 32 mm the recommended size -
for some reason I thought it was the next size up, I run the 38 mm with
pretty good success on a 3100 cc.Mine did not come out the bottom of the
fuselage with the vent just to make sure that if fuel came out the vent it

Sorry Dan I did not mean to say that the original hinges were not airworthy.
I had read somewhere
that the Australian government required 5 instead of 3 elevator hinges and
I wasn't sure
if I would be able to receive an airworthiness certificate when I was
finished with the plane. Now
that I know that other people are flying with just 3 I may just leave it
alone. And yes, I do know that
the Aus. Feds and the Faa have different policies but wasn't sure on the kr2
hinges so I thought I
would ask. Good job on your wing tanks I have been following your progress.

KR> Stabilizer and rudder modifications

2010-10-31 Thread Steven Bedford
Hello all,

I have been lurking on the web and krnet for sometime now and I have recently
acquired a Kr-2s project.
The wings are raf-48, built and installed per plans. The horizontal stab and
rudder installed and built
per plans. I have been contemplating on rebuilding the horz. stab and rudder
using Mark L.
airfoils and Dr. Dean hinges. The elevator has 3 non-bearing hinges same as
rudder. I would
think that the elevator would not be "airworthy" knowing what we know now about
the kr hinges.
In order to redo the spars would I be able to laminate thicker spruce onto the
oe spars or would
I have to completely remove the old spars and start over? or install oil
impregnated bushings
into the existing 3 hinges and fly sooner?

Thanks in advance,
Steven Bedford
