know how to make it more obvious than that brother.

Marty. Nah man I am from texas. I HAVE been in contact with a dude from new
zealand who bought the GK1. I think you might have me confused with him or
someone else you have been talking to. I have shot you an e-mail a few times
with no reply, I figured you blocked me when my account got hacked and started
spamming the board(sorry about that guys).take your time, I was just making
sure you dont forget about me

KR> Spar

2010-11-11 Thread Dustin Reves
Larry

Instead of doing a 3 piece setup like is in the plans, my spar will be
bent up at the fuselage like Darren Cromptons kr. The only difference
will be, I am gonna do away with the WAFS so everything will be 1
piece. This should create a little more room for fuel in the wings and
allow me to have flaps much much larger than the average kr. Also,
come hell or high water I am going to have retractable landing gear on
my plane. I know the argument for fixed gear over retracts is a strong
one, but I just can't get around it. If I'm gonna build it it's gotta
be exactly what I want or I can't justify spending the time.

Blessed is the lord my strength which teaches my hands to war and my
fingers to fight.

KR> Don betchans retracts and fuselage sides

2010-11-11 Thread Dustin Reves
I'm not worried about losing stub wing as I am going to be going with
a solid spar on my kr1. Should create anough space within the wings to
move stuff around a bit.

Blessed is the lord my strength which teaches my hands to war and my

KR> RE>ID my airfoil

2010-11-10 Thread dustin Reves

There are no ready made wing skins produced for the AS5046 airfoils. If you
have ready made "skins" they are wither Deihl or Rand  RAF airfoil skins.
The only way I can think to Identify your airfoil if the wing is already built
is to print out and AS5046 stub wing template and compare it to your stub wing.

KR> Don betchans retracts and fuse side questions.

2010-11-10 Thread dustin Reves

Does anyone have any pictures(aside from the ones on marks website) of
how they retracted? Did don have to modify the spar
 to them to retract
properly? Is the entire system mounted spar foreward? I cant make it
out from the photos on langford's site.

Also

>From what I have been reading most KR fuse sides are wider at the
shoulders than they are at the bottom, is this correct?  Would it
incur
any significant increase in work to make them the same width top and
bottom? I bought Mike Arnold's AR-5 DVD's and from
what I understand
that played a big part in lowering interference drag between the fuse
and wing. Also, putting the widest part of the fuselage
at the trailing
edge of the wing. am I silly to think this is the way to go with a KR
as well?

I agree with what you are saying mark and I respect your views on the subject.
I am willing to put. In the hours to do the modification to the airframe, but,
if the undertaking isn't worthwhile and it is unlikely I will reach my
performance goals I might consider goi g with the sonerai.i am really trying to
kill 2 birds with one stone with this build. A nice cross country cruiser that
I can use as my own personal dogfighter when flying solo. What I really want
for me is a ride that will really haul a$$ solo. I was originally going to
build a modified kr1, but my fiancée has expressed the interest in flying
together. I guess I need to take her up in a light plane and see if she really
wants to go flying. Maybe I can get out of building a 2 place aircraft.

Sorry for the horrible typing. I'm sending this on an iphone

KR> Tandem seating PT II

2009-05-25 Thread dustin Reves

Did this so it would be easier to read

OK after thinking about the tandem seating Idea for a few days I feel
like it will be a little bit harder than I thought it would... But
based on my limited knowledge of aerodynamics, and a few basic
assumptions, this might still be worthwhile. Obviously I would like to
get the maximum performance out of my project that I can. There are 2
reasons that I am fixated on the tandem seating arrangement.

1.
I feel like the decreased width of the airplane will benefit in making
it as slippery as possible. obviously something 44" wide is gonna be
harder to push through the air than something 30 inches wide.

2.
The tandem seating just feels sporty to me. Much more like sitting in a
fighter plane than a cross country cruiser. Well, doesnt everybody
wanna feel like they are flying a fighter?

The drawbacks are the
rather large adjustments that will have to be made to the airframe. Im
thinking the wing will have to be moved back. The front passenger will
have to sit somewhere right on top of the foreward spar. while the
pilot (rear) will basically be sitting directly on the trailing edge
of the wing. I havent done the math(nor do I know how to ) but this is
definately going to necessitate moving the firewall foreward. If I
follow the suggestions of previous builders(Mark L) and use the full
length of longeron material provided in the boat kit I think I will
have enough material to massage the dimensions around enough to get the
aircraft to be able to balance properly. There are only 2 pictures
available of the only flying kr I know of with tandem seating. There is
very little daetail on the modifications done to make it fly properly,
so I am kind of just winging it and theorizing right now. Am I just
dreaming and making this more difficult than it should be? If I had the
finances I would be looking at something like the thunder mustang, but
of course I dont(as so few of us do). Perhaps I should be looking at
other designs?
