Only thing that needs to me added to this thread is that insulting Larry Flasner is not going to make you any friends here. He is one of the nicest people on this list and he has helped more people in the KR world than can be said. Brian Kraut

Larry said, "I feel your frustration but using a firing squad to encourage change will only result in less participation." Being nice to these morons may very well reduce participation - as Martha would say, "that's a good thing." Mark rightly mentions it doesn't do any good. You can't improve intelligence by entertaining stupidity. You can only offend them sufficiently that they go away. These double-digits would last five minutes on Beechtalk. Considering what they contribute, less participation would be a positive, not a negative. Notice the quality of response of those offended by my "firing squad" post - fat drunks who can't operate a keyboard or their smartphones, much less an aircraft - what does their participation contribute? I'm out on this issue. I thought a little shock therapy might work, but since Mark is too nice a guy to send these guys back to the swamp, I guess it's hopeless. Larry Flesner wrote: > This might be a good time for Mark to re-post the net rules and > everyone take a deep breath and "read and heed". I guess I've given up on that. Although I think it's very important to minimize repetition of prior messages (to keep from having to search through the same messages over and over again because your keyword was reposted 7 times by somebody too lazy to spend a few seconds deleting them), pleading with people has no apparent effect. The advent of smartphones and users who don't know how to operate them (or don't care how long it takes others to search the archive) has made it far worse. Every new member is sent a copy of the rules, and there's a link to the rules (http://www.krnet.org/info.html) at the bottom of every email the system sends out. It makes no difference. And every time I send out a copy of the rules, it gets quiet for a few days while the inconsiderate ones (or the ones who don't know how to truncate their posts) lay low until they forget about it, and then it goes back to normal. Another rule is "give us some idea of who you are or where you're from in your signature, at least something to help us keep up with who is who. But like I said, I give up. But just to make Larry happy, and because apparently nobody's ever seem them before, below are the rules. This doesn't mean the list should go dead silent for three days, it just means please be considerate of those who come after you and search desperately for a morsel of assistance, so they don't spend five times as long searching through the same exact posts. PLEASE read these and at leave give some slight effort toward following them... ___ KRNetiquette We have a few folks who feel compelled to comment on just about every post made, and I can only be thankful that all 800 of us don't do that, or we'd be wading through several thousand emails a day! Please be considerate of your fellow KRNetHeads. A few of us would do well to heed the following advice: 1) Think long and hard before you publicly flame somebody on this list. This list may not be like others you've been on. We don't do that here, period. If you have a personal problem with another lister, you need to address it off the list and spare the rest of us your angst. If you disagree with something somebody else posted, you can disagree in a nice manner without getting all bent out of shape. Just point out your side of the discussion and let others be the judge. Public flaming and superfluous bad language will not be tolerated. 2) When replying to a post, delete everything except one or two key sentences from the previous post. It's really ridiculous to have to search thru 3 or 4 pages of stuff to find down at the bottom where some clown wrote "me too". Carrying all that useless baggage around from previous posts also gives people fits when searching the archives later, as they end up getting 10 hits for the same message. 3) Conversely, at least put SOMETHING in the post to remind us what you're replying to. A post like "yeah, that's how I did mine and it works great" doesn't mean a thing if you don't know what the guy's talking about, so please cut and paste some of what you're replying to above your comments. 4) Carefully consider whether or not you even need to reply to a post. Saying "me too", or "I don't know" doesn't contribute to the thread, it just makes the list more bothersome. If you don't know what you're talking about, maybe you should be listening, rather than talking. There are FEW people who know everything about everything. Try to stick to things you KNOW about, and let others answer the rest. A corollary to this is if you find yourself making more than five posts in a single day, you probably need to "stifle yourself"! 5) Try to write "keeper" posts if you're the expert on something. Cover the whole issue, answer all possible questions, address both sides of an issue, and make it a post that others will want to save or print out and keep. Those are the gems that we all search for on KRNet. 6) Put your name and email address in your signature to make emailing others "offnet" easier. If we all had our addresses at the bottom of our posts, it would be far easier to "email direct". If it's blue just click on it, if it's not, cut it and paste it into the "To" box. If throwing your email address out on the internet makes you nervous (and it should), camoflage it a little by replacing the @ symbol with "at", or something similar, so that bot crawlers won't know what to do with it. 7) If you don't have anything substantial to say, please don't post anything. This is a KR list, and as such, really needs to stay focused on KRs, or at least airplanes. With over 600 people on the list, if we all decided to say something every day we'd have a real problem. Ask yourself "do 600 people really need to see this, or are 600 people going to be annoyed by

How about something like: Please people, learn to find the e-mail address of the individual you wish to respond to buried in the original post and don't reply to the 600+ people on the net. Change the subject if you intend to change the content. Delete everything in the post that is not necessary like all the crap added at the end of the post. A three word reply to an individual with all the original post really screws things up. Remind everyone the web address for net rules gets posted once a month. Please take the time to read and follow. Diplomacy and a bit of tolerance is not a bad thing. Just as some thought my post on Microsoft was not relevant I assumed everyone participating on the net does so with a computer and hours spent working on computer problems means less time to work on projects or, better yet, go flying. This might be a good time for Mark to re-post the net rules and everyone take a deep breath and "read and heed". Larry Flesner
