Count me in!  I may come a little earlier now!

And just so this won't be a wasted post, Troy Petteway's been flying for
years behind a carbon fiber spinner that he made by making a mold from a
production spinner.  I don't know exactly how many layers, but my guess
would be about three.  The aluminum spinner was so badly out of balance that
it kept cracking, so he made the carbon fiber one from it and reports a
perfectly balanced spinner with no cracking problems since...

I talked to Owen today and he and Chris Gardiner are flying in so we
will have a 'contingent' of Canucks there. 
I have 'lurked' this list for 4 years now and listened to all
the hype and this is as close as the Gathering is going to get to
me...can't wait!

If you get to your camping site and there are a lot of passed out bodies
laying around, you will definitely know you have a lot of catching up to do.
Funny thing is that the headset I seen Langford wearing last year probably
is not the same headset you are talking about. Or is it?

REMEMBER GUYS, "OFFICIALLY" THERE IS NO BOOZE ON THE 
GROUNDS SO JUST DON'T MAKE IT TOO OBVIOUS.  DON'T LEAVE
BEER CANS AROUND, ETC.

The good news is the camping area, which has a small pavilion with
two picnic tables, four fire pits on standpipes, lots of flat grassy area,
and next to a small lake and the whole thing is just a stones throw
from the parking lot, is also in a low area and basiclly out of site from
the hangars, parking lot, and terminal.  

Other valuable info, the night security man comes on at 9:00PM.  I don't
know if he will wonder down that way or not but be advised. I really
don't anticipate any problems and expect from past events that 
everyone will behave themselves and just have a "good ol' time"!
Ouu,  that first chug goes down easy!!

The firewood will be there and waiting also.  Just get yourself on
over here!!  Bring your own charcoal.  

There will be a Friday and Saturday lunch buffet in the terminal
and a Friday evening buffet / meal in the terminal with Jim Faughn
doing an hour or two of live music.  All buffets are $7.00 and the
Gathering gets a 75 cent kickback.  I think I'm starting to repeat
myself, repeat myself, repeat myself

I bought a new Lightspeed Twenty 2G right before SNF.  They are pretty nice,
but a funny blue color.  The volume control/battery box was designed by a
moron, however.  The cover falls off continually, and the cheesy "fix"
bracket that they fastened to it falls off even more!  I have a matching
pony tail band around it right now to hold it all together.  Pretty sad for
something that expensive.  And they're all that way.  I found a battery
cover in the 172 I rented a few weeks ago.   An even better deal is the ones
that Gulf Coast Avionics (I think it is) sells that are something like last
year's Lightspeeds (made by them), but with a cell phone/aux input (which
mine has too, but cost $200 more).  Doug Steen bought two of them at SNF, or
maybe it was Dana, I forget.  Quite a bargain.  Doug's making noises like he
may show up too.  It ought to be another doozy!

Those headsets may be on my head next time you see me, since Troy called
today and asked if I wanted to fly out with him in his KR2.  That's a hard
deal to pass up in my book!  The only problem with that is that I told some
folks I'd bring my cowling molds, so that may have to wait.  I asked my
wife, "cowling molds, or fly Troy's KR to the Gathering?"  She said
"duuh", so blame her!  Either way, I'd be there before dark on
Thursday, earlier if I drive.  If I fly in, I hope Ron Willett will be
there.  We'll need a ride!

I have a new camera this year that ought to take some pretty nice air-to-air
pictures, and Larry has arranged for another pilot to take me up in his
Tripacer.  You guys who haven't gotten any air-to-air shots yet need to meet
up there for some photos.  We're talking maybe late Friday or early
Saturday.  It wouldn't hurt to buy a little Tripacer fuel, but that's not
mandatory either (I'll take up the slack if necessary).  See you guys
shortly!

Don't forget to pack a coozie (in case I'm spelling it wrong, it's the foam
container that your "adult beverage" slides in to make it look like a
"non-adult beverage"...  :-)   Of course, if there's a keg, we're going to
need a big coozie  :-)
