KR> Prop Spinner attaching screws ?

2009-06-09 Thread Jeff Scott
I see how the forward bulkhead is screwed to the prop hub
but not to the Spinner.
So the forward bulkhead exists only for internal support
of the spinner but is not attached to the spinner directly?

I thought perhaps there would be screws through the spinner
into the forward bulkhead much like the rear one.
Scott

Take a look at the top two pictures at
, You'll see the screws
through my spinner into the front bulkhead. I used to use the same model
spinner with it only screwed to the rear bulkhead and a tight friction fit over
the front bulkhead, but after roughly 300 hours, the spinner started developing
cracks due to the spinner and the front bulkhead wearing on each other.

KR> Prop Spinner attaching screws ?

2009-06-09 Thread Scott Perkins
My favorite spinner was a 14 inch fiberglass unit sold by
Loehle Aviation for use on his P-40 and P-51 replicas.
I wonder if they still have them for sale?

A prominent aerodynamicist told me that a spinner up
to one third of prop diameter was the last way to
squeeze a few more percentage points of efficiency
out of a perfect prop.

Scott, look at the third picture up from the bottom, it says: "OH, I am
finished. I still have to put the screws in the front bulkhead, but I ran out
of anchor nuts."
