[libreoffice-l10n] Help needed to test TDF#93695 in MSO of Japanese (and other locales)
Dear l10n team: Could someone help to test the request made by Mark Huang in the following link: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93695#c8 Steps to Test: 1. Open the test document of the bug report in MSO 2. See how the outline numbering chars look like in your version of MSO 3. Leave a comment in the bug report. Do include your MSO version and locale in your comment. Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Pootle downtime
I am wondering the server specifications of TDF. What's the CPU and Memery? Access from China to the TDF servers is too slow, the download speed of dev-builds.libreoffice.org is less than 20KB/s for me. The pootle is also slow. While when I download from my own VPS server located in the U.S. from China, the speed is >500KB/s. Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Bug 104954 - DOCX Export: Heading Styles are Wrong when Open with MSO 2010 (because of translation conflict of "Heading" and "Title")
Hi Cheng-Chia, see my reply below: 在 12/29/2016 02:06 PM, Cheng-Chia Tseng 写道: 锁琨珑 <suokunl...@126.com> 於 2016年12月29日 週四 下午12:35寫道: Dear All: I encountered a bug related to docx export and have managed to find a solution for this. The bug is, in some non-english UI, if you apply some paragraphs the "Heading 1" style then save this document as DOCX, when reopen with MSO2010 the heading 1 style is showing as inherit from "Title", which causes all paragraphs of Heading 1 style to be centered in MSO2010. The workaround of this issue is to change the translation of "Heading" to something different than the localized string for "Title" as shown in MSO2010. For example, in MSO 2010 the style name for "Title" is "标题", although the word "Heading" has the same meaning "标题" in Chinese, I intentionally changed the translation of "Heading" to "标题样式" (meaning "Heading Styles") so that it does not conflict with the Title style in MSO2010. I don't think translating "Heading 1" from "标题 1" to "标题样式 1" would fix the problem. If you check the docx file in MSO2010, "Heading 1" still is "Heading 1" style, no matter what the translation is. The problem is that the formatting style of Heading 1 (align to the left) in docx file exported by LibreOffice would change (center) in MSO2010. No, I don't mean to change from "Heading 1" to "标题样式 1", I only mean to change "Heading" to "标题样式". All the translations for the other "Heading N" styles need not be changed. Remember in Writer "Heading N" are all based on "Heading". I don't know the reason behind this, but this change really solves my problem. If you look at the docx in MSO2010, before make the changes, "标题 1" is Based On (基于) "Title (标题)", which is wrong. It should be Based On "Heading" in MSO 2010. "Title (标题)" is centered, this caused the heading 1 centered. After the change the translation of "Heading" to "标题样式", "标题 1" is Based On (基于) "Heading (标题样式)", which is correct. This may be a bug for MSO2010, not for LibreOffice. However, to make the DOCX files created by LibreOffice showing the correct formating in MSO2010, I suggest all language teams to check whether this issue exists in your language, and if yes, make the changes in pootle accordingly. Re: [libreoffice-l10n] LibreOffice Documentation Translation on Zanata
We Simplified Chinese team started the Documentation translation project. Currently we only have Simplified Chinese and Tranditional Chinese in the list. For Simplified Chinese we have 5 people doing the translation and we have already finished translation 4 chapters. The advantage of translating on Zanata is that we can do the translation just like we do the UI localaztion in pootle (several people can translation within one file, translation memory, suggestions, etc), while when finished we get a nice ODT file with all the formatting (including the cross-reference, table of contents, special fields etc) preserved.Kevin Suo在 2016/4/19 12:38, Ani Peter 写道: Hello guys, This is a nice news. [libreoffice-l10n] Language names should be in the target language chars
Hi all, So far, the language names shown in Tools - Options - Language Settings are in the localed language name strings. For example, if you are using English UI, the language listed are English (USA), English (United Kingdom), Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Tranditional)...; When you are using Chinese (Simplified) UI, the list shows like 英语 (美国), 英语 (英国), 中文 (简体), 中文 (繁体)...; when using Japanese UI then the names are expressed in Japanese. I believe those language names should be changed to the target names chars for all UIs, like the language listed here: http://zh-cn.libreoffice.org/international-sites/ (see the second column) I am thinking about this because of the following reason: * It's a waste of time for localizers to translate every foreign language names to their own locale. Even translated, it may not be correct. * In case the users are trying to switch between languages, there may be confusion (for example, if I want to test something in Franch UI, and after that I want to change back to Chinese UI it's really difficult to find the right one in the list box. And there is a corrensponding bug report here: Bug 59901 - UI: Name of each language in target language https://www.libreoffice.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=59901 Currently the language stings are translatable in pootle. My idea is that: * The language stings should be made un-translatable, just maitain a language list in the source codes with target chars; or * there be guidelines in the l10n wiki page to tell localizers to translate the language list strings to the target language chars.
