Right, but – at least at first glance – their license looks permisive enough
[1]. One should check this on the specific font of interest, though.

Anyway, my suggestion with SIL was in the form of 'example'. If other places
like this exists, the better. I tend to avoid Google fonts and so I don't know
much of their novelties, but maybe things aren't that bad there either :)

What is the target part of the world for the flyer ? Possibly the same question
for the sister project ?

Has anyone thought about i18n issues at the time of choosing this font ? A
quick look at the embedded character set shows that this font lacks support for
Czech, Polish, Hungarian and Romanian alphabets (this for Latin based scripts);
it also lacks support for Greek, it also lacks support for Cyrillic. Not a word
about Asian or Arabic scripts.

Why not choose from SIL fonts ? Their i18n support is comprehensive (and font
quality is awesome).

Or, perhaps the sister project considers that only 'Western' languages "...
have digital content created years ago and stored in old, outdated and
proprietary document formats." ?

About two hours ago I have seen the same error in English language, now I see
the same error but in German language :)

Since I clear the browser cookies at least once a day I was/am not already

Just a not on this one – as I already mentioned this in my previous message
(from "Tue, 15 Mar 2022 11:59:08 +0200"), in practice I cannot do that:

===
This because if I try yo get the English "translation" from here in order to
use it as template

then I get "Insufficient privileges to display this page.".
===

No matter what English "translation" file I want to download, I get the same
insufficient privileges note. It makes perfectly sense to be forbidden to
_upload_ something there, but for a *download* such an error makes no sense.

True, but for my personal taste, whatever git**b is too awkward and something I
tend to avoid, especially if there are reasonable alternatives for the same
purpose.

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Weblate updated to 4.11.2

2022-03-15 Thread Cristian Secară
În data de Mon, 14 Mar 2022 16:56:55 +0100, sophi a scris:

> For information, Cloph (thanks!) has updated Weblate to 4.11.2 :)

Actually, it looks like the update was a downgrade, since now I am no longer
able to download a template file.

Example: while attempting to download the .zip file containing all language for
a given module, say from here
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/projects/libo_ui-master/svxmessages/
then I get "Server Error / The server had serious problems serving your
request. You might want to contact server admins in case the error persists."

That didn't happen until yesterday.

In fact I don't need the whole bunch of those languages for that module (or
whatever other module), however, that way the .zip file contains also the .pot
template file, which is what I need actually.

This because if I try yo get the English "translation" from here in order to
use it as template
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/projects/libo_ui-master/svxmessages/en/
then I get "Insufficient privileges to display this page.".

So I am unable to sync my .po file with the template for master branch (but not
limited to: happens the same with whatever module from 7.2 etc.). Probably a
bit unusual, in general: I am working for 7.3 in mix mode (i.e. both directly
using Weblate interface or offline using Poedit, the later especially when
reviewing / checking for inconsitency big translation segments) and, when doing
something offline and upload the translation file for 7.3, then I have to go to
master (or 7.2 for the same purpose), sync with the template from there and
upload my translation file there also, as the offline method does not propagate
a given translation across LO versions (whereas working directly in Weblate it
does).

[libreoffice-l10n] how should I read this string ? (from Windows installer component)

2022-03-12 Thread Cristian Secară
I have this string:

#. tBfTE
#: ActionTe.ulf
msgctxt ""
"ActionTe.ulf\n"
"OOO_ACTIONTEXT_1\n"
"LngText.text"
msgid "Advertising application"

How should I read it ?

1. [this is an] Advertising application
or
2. Advertising [this] application

The string comes from the msi_languages.po* file (i.e. Windows installer), but
I don't remember seeing it during actual install and I have no idea what is its
purpose.

[libreoffice-l10n] is the wiki's "Deadlines" theory still valid ?

2022-03-08 Thread Cristian Secară
The Deadlines paragraph on the Translating LibreOffice wiki page [1] says this:

===
For every build:

• Translations are extracted from Weblate on Tuesday
• They are committed to Git before tagging, deadline for each tag is Monday

So please, add your changes to Weblate on Monday to make sure they will be
included.
===

On Tuesday 8 March, the Windows dev packages for 7.3 (20:10 file time) [2] and
master (03:22 file time) [3] still does not include the latest translated
strings. This would have been helpful for an overall/specific checking and to
identify which main UI strings remained untranslated.

Ok, but still confused.

Let's take the string tFoAo; why has the Spanish version 4 variants ?

(en) forward|fd
(de) vor|vr
(es) avanza|adelante|av|ad
(fr) avance|av
(it) forward|fd

Or, string BEiyw; why has the Spanish version added 2 more variants ?

(en) home
(de) anfang
(es) inicio|casa|centro
(fr) origine
(it) home

etc.

I tried something, but didn't succeeded.

I was expecting something similar to a "language pack" file, but there are only
"helppack" files. Are these the same ? (I guess not)

What I have done so far (I'm on Windows 10 64bit):
- I uninstalled the stable 7.3.0.x release
- I installed this package:
https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/libreoffice-7-3/Win-x86_64@tb77-TDF/2022-03-02_16.35.27/LibreOfficeDev_7.3.2.0.0_Win_x64.msi
- I also installed this file:
https://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/libreoffice-7-3/Win-x86_64@tb77-TDF/2022-03-02_16.35.27/LibreOfficeDev_7.3.2.0.0_Win_x64_helppack_qtz.msi

I was expecting a KeyID as "language" in language options, as describbed here
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Language#KeyID
but in practice there is nothing more there than the few languages I choose
(checked) during program install.

All of the popup window text is already translated for my language, except for
the buttons: _Save / Do_n't Save / _Cancel

I am not able to find these strings for translation. Where can I find them ? If
I switch the UI language to German, then the buttons are shown in German, so
these are native LO strings (i.e. not operating system's strings).

#. aFvbe

[libreoffice-l10n] request for joining the Romanian translation team

2022-02-23 Thread Cristian Secară
Hello,

I would like to join the Romanian translation team, so I can translate directly
on Weblate (i.e. not only to make suggestions).

How can I do that ?

I do *not* intend to translate neither quickly, nor massively; however, there
are several strings on LO main interface or common dialog that are not yet
translated / became untranslated due to code change, that make a bad impression
on users and so I would like to improve the situation a little.

I already have experience with Weblate, since I am the maintainer of the
Romanian translation for Vivaldi browser, which also uses Weblate for this.

Other than that, I am the maintainer for GIMP & Inkscape Romanian translations
and part of the GNOME Romanian translation team, where I am committer and, on
occasions, reviewer (this along with several other l10n or i18n contributions).

Thank you,
Cristi
