[lace] Different plants for Queen Anne's Lace rubber stamps on ebay
Referring back to the discussion on Queen Anne's Lace plants, there are two rubber stamps for sale on ebay each stated as being Queen Anne's Lace, but the plants depicted are completely different: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/QUEEN-ANNES-LACE-UNMOUNTED-RUBBER-STAMP_W0QQitemZ170119380741QQihZ007QQcategoryZ41260QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem tinied: http://tinyurl.com/2nylv4 or search for item number 170119380741 and http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PSX-QUEEN-ANNES-LACE-BOTANICAL-WM-RUBBER-STAMP-K-2048_W0QQitemZ120128821484QQihZ002QQcategoryZ41260QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem tinied: http://tinyurl.com/3do325 or search for item number 120128821484 Jean in Poole, Dorset, UK - To unsubscribe send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] containing the line: unsubscribe lace [EMAIL PROTECTED] For help, write to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Re: [lace] Re A Raffle - replying to individuals
When I used to get the digest I was a lurker but I used to reply personally to individual posts (as several regular listers will confirm!) Not sure how I used to do it but iirc the individual e-mail address is shown above each post and if you just click on that it brings up a box similar to that produced by your compose button. Any digest lister confirm this? Just trying to help. Hazel --- ann.humphreys [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Sorry Alice but I get the digest not individual mails so I don't have Carole's email address. [lace] replies to digest
I see I'm not the only one that has the reply problem. As many years (and changes) that I have gone through with this list (I'm one of the original members) and because I have worked with 'puters so many years, that I know how to program in machine language, I was also surprised when I could find no way to answer except to the list. Now I'm feeling bad because it appears I can no longer be in raffles because the digest has somehow changed. I have searched thoroughly in ways that many probably have not thought of and still can't find her addy, so I guess I will not be able to be in this raffle or in any other any more. I have been lucky enough to win in the past. I still enjoy what I have won. I know there are some who are newbies and don't know the rules, but there are also some that want to follow them and can't find a way to do so. Sorry to everyone, and I'm sorry to see that I'm not alone with my problem. Perhaps one of the list owners might look at why the digest has somehow changed. [lace] Lace Groups
Hi everyone I've recently started a lace group with some friends. We met at a local class which no longer runs. We meet in a community centre where we get a reduced rental as the room isn't used much during the day. We've got 9 signed up members if we get more we'll be able to reduce our subscription. We advertise with posters I've got flyers which I hand out whenever possible. Although we aren't a class as such we have enough expertise among us to teach beginners. I was demonstrating at my church fair on Saturday at least one lady seemed very interested, so here's hoping! So anyone out there in the Portsmouth area who's interested, do get in touch. [lace] Raffle--Email address
I receive Arachne through individual messages and have never subscribed to the digested version. I didn't realize that harvesting my email address would be so difficult. So, the raffle for the book Torchon Lace Purse Pendants is still on :) I'll be drawing the winning name on Sunday, June 17. [lace] E-mail addresses
I don't understand what the problem is, Surely 'Chat' looks the same to everyone that has it as a digest, as I do. Pardon me Jean for choosing one of your posts to demonstrate, but this is the format I see at the top of each entry: Date: Wed, 30 May 2007 08:27:33 +0100 From: Jean Nathan [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [lace-chat] Afternoon tea/high tea Where's the problem in that? If I want to write a reply to arachne chat, I hit reply, and check the subject matter is what it needs to be for what I'm writing about. If I want to write to Jean personally, I copy and paste her address. Jacquie, preparing to be shot down in flames. Flames Really now. There's nothing wrong with YOU The problem is the 'computer'or, rather, the computer **PROGRAMS** Even though the messages come through the same computer, Majordomo, our various receiving computers have different programs and treat the material differently. What you see in the way of headings is not what everyone else may see. There are as many versions as there are programers. Each person has to learn how to cope with his/her own program. It can be a real nuisance, but we just have to deal with it the best we can. After all, it's the lace and lacemaking that's important. And our lacemaking friends all over the world. [lace] Re: Directions for lace patterns
Pene, That is a good point. This is quite a learning experience for me and I really appreciate all the feedback I am getting about how to write up a BL pattern. I have made some alterations on my teardrop pattern with the numbers and also caught a couple of other grammatical errors ;) Happy Lacing! Lacemakers who are unfamiliar with English can still read the symbols but might not recognize the word for a number. I noticed that in Mark's directions for his tear drop that the word two is used instead of the number '2'. RE: [lace] Befriending
Hello everyone, For those of you who don't know me, I'm a lurker, who has been lurking since the beginning of Arachne, mainly due to lack of time in following threads and answering. Once in a while, I pop up out of the blue and let everyone know I'm still here, and still quiet. I've been following the threads on befriending and on lace clubs with interest. I also had an unpleasant experience years ago at a Lace Day, where I was told that the only real lace were the English laces, and the only real bobbins were Midlands. Well, I like tape laces, Bruges lace and Torchon. I hate Midlands, but love Binche bobbins. I'm a loner. I mean that. I actually LIKE being alone. I learned bobbin lace, tatting and needlelace from books, and loved every minute. I don't belong to a group, although there are actually not one, but two groups in my area. Although I conceptually understand the idea of befriending newcomers, I would suggest that you be just a tad careful, because there are other people, like me, who prefer to be left alone. This is one of the reasons why for the last fifteen or so years, I have stayed away from the lace guilds. I don't have the best social skills, I do lace to relax and as a source for creativity, social events (even meetings) are stressful for me, and I did not want to be smothered (that's how it feels to me). So yes, take the time to talk to new people, but follow cues of leave me alone. I must admit that I was invited to participate in courses through one of the groups here last year, and after much internal debate (and I mean LOTS of seesawing back and forth) I did talk myself into going. It was a pleasant experience. My hectic schedule has not made it possible for me to go back, nor would I want to go every time, but I have not discounted the possibility. What was nice, was that no one stuck by me, or expected more of me than a presence. They chatted, I listened, pretty much the same as on Arachne. I know I'm not the only one out there. We may be a bit difficult to hook, but give us time, we are worth it. Lise-Aurore In beautiful Ottawa, Canada. [lace] Admin: finding email addresses in digests
Spiders, I honestly do not understand what the problem is. I have not changed the configuration of the digests for 5 years. Digests are sent as text, and every mail program will read them the same way. Here is an excerpt from a digest: -- Date: Sun, 31 Dec 2006 09:02:30 - From: Jean Nathan [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [lace] Strings raffle Having bought Tim Parker's remaining clearance stock of paper strings as Jean's address appears quite clearly after From:. I think that where people are getting confused is when they see a REPLY to the list. In such a case, the *quoted* posting often does not show the address because the person replying to the posting used Outlook with its default settings. So if you see a message that says, Hi, Joan, My name is Anne and I want to join your raffle, with Joan's message below, Joan's address will not appear. Here's an example of a reply (I have no idea whther Jenny uses Outlook; I just picked an example): Date: Mon, 01 Jan 2007 15:03:23 +0900 From: Jenny Brandis [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [lace] Pin making Remember the thread about pin making that followed this ? Here is a website with more information on pin making. At 04:02 AM 28/12/2006, Sue Babbs wrote: Here's the link for anyone who wants to listen via the computer: As you can see, Sue's address not appear but Jenny's address does, because Jenny is replying to what Sue wrote. There are two solutions: 1. Read your digests carefully and don't empty your trash quite so often. The original address you want will be there. 2. Go to http://www.mail-archive.com/lace@arachne.com and search for the raffle thread. The original message should be from the person who set up the raffle. You click on the button that says Reply to Joan on the bottom of the page, on the Web site. 3. Write to me for the address. I check the [EMAIL PROTECTED] account once a week (usually Sunday morning) and I check this account several times a day. I will check the archive or my old digests for you (you could do this much faster on your own but I will do the search if you feel you're not able to). For heavens sake, please, digest subscribers, don't get worked up about not being able to find addresses. It's not so. You have to go back to the original message to find the address, because not everyone's email program displays the address of the person they're replying to. This is caused by Outlook's default settings (most people these days use Outlook) and not majordomo; majordomo does not strip the addresses.
