Re: [LU] Ipswich report
I watched on tv, and I know being at the game is always more telling, particularly if you’ve had a few beers, but there were parts of the game early on which which were pretty poor. The constant giving the ball away, and the misplaced long balls - I get the trying to stretch the game, and how this sometimes works - drives me mad. I am trying very hard not to be critical, because the season so far has been a revelation, and maybe the speed we play at induces panic in other teams as well as meaning misplaced passes by us. We could, and should, have won by more and Forshaw’s performance was one of his best for us. Putting 2 or 3 wins together would be nice now though. Re: [LU] Ipswich report
Agreed, I didn’t go last night but managed to watch on LUTV and I thought it was another poor performance from Ayling. His passing seems to have deserted him completely. I thought we were poor first half but second half mainly due to Hernandez we took them apart and should have won by more. I thought Dallas probably had his best game for Leeds (the bar is low) by showing that he has got something to offer even if it was against very poor opposition. I like Forshaw and as somebody said he plays like Batty - always available, gets everywhere and always efficient with his passing. A few months ago I wouldn’t have dreamt of droppping Siaz but he’s not delivering and looks to have lost all confidence in front of goal. I was impressed by Roofe first half but he faded badly and didn’t contribute anything second half. Lots of praise for Philips but I thought he had the easiest job on the park mopping up at the back, no pressure and playing simple balls out from the back. Can he play that role against a better team with pace - I doubt it. Forest big game. I’ve always rated Joe Lolley and he will take Ayling to the cleaners. > On 25 Oct 2018, at 16:07, Nicholas Armit via Leedslist > wrote: > > Not to be negative but I thought Ayling was poor. Re: [LU] Ipswich report
Pablo showed just how much we miss him when he’s not there. He would be the first name on the team sheet for me. Thought Phillips was superb. I still think that no one else in the squad is capable of hitting the 50 yard plus cross field balls that he does. I also thought that Forshaw looked good when he came on for Saiz , with Klich moving further forward. We looked more solid and it’s definitely an option when Saiz is having an off day. [LU] Beer ban to be lifted ?
Just seen a very brief report on SSN that Shaun Harvey is trying to get the ban lifted on alcohol being drunk inside the stadium in view of the pitchHe says 'crowd behaviour has changed since the ban was imposed and is now draconian' Given that there are grounds when Leeds fans cannot get a drink inside the ground at any time I cannot see the police agreeing to lift the ban. I think they will argue that the ban has worked so why lift it and point to some issues that occur in the concourse when drink is flowing (sometimes flowing through the air) It will be interesting to say the least Dave ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org Find us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/leedslist/ RIP Jimmy WAC-COE

Not to be negative but I thought Ayling was poor. I think to play Bielsaball you need to be a thinking footballer and Ayling ain't one. He is best when he plays quick and direct. As soon as he stops and has to think he makes mistakes. We could have had a hatful with Alisoki coming closest to adding to the total with a great run and shot that came back from the inside of the post - he was another player who was back to his best last night , with a cross in the first half nearly causing a goal as the keeper could only parry it back into the danger zone. The second goal and the one that eased all our tension off the pitch and led to total capitulation from Ipswich on it, was brilliant and well worked - a short corner came back to Pablo and his cross was superbly dummied by Phillips(?) and fell to Cooper who side footed it with his right from the edge of the box - yes League -One Liam as some call him finsihed with real skill and aplomb. So a 5 0 victory away from home with arguably the 3 best players missingThe 5th was by Edmondson again - a lovely move down the left by Jordan Stevens who backheeled it to Oduor whose cross was met by Edmondson , he hit it onto the keepers right hand post and then re-acted first to head the rebound into the other corner A few good performances on what I watched - Oduor at left back was good going forward, Stevens and Gotts both look decent, Shaunessey must have had more touches than anyone but too many went astray for my liking and then upfront Edmondson bagged another brace. I will watch his career with interest. As we know he is still a teenager and is a big unit . At times he can look cumbersome and sluggish but he did show a neat touch and one impressive turn of speed. He gets in lots of goal scoring positions and has a 50/50 success rate , he certainly knows how to score. He has a bit of the Lee Chapman about him without the kamikaze diving headers. If he keeps fit he will have a career in football but I am still not sure if he can make it at the top or even the Championship or if he will be a 4th Division bully. He does look more mobile and with a better eye for goal than Matt Smith so who knows. Hopefully he will get the odd substitute appearance in the first team and maybe start in the FACup depending on opposition Dave ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org Find us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/leedslist/ RIP Jimmy WAC-COE

I note that Clarke, Pearce and Shackleton are not involved for u23s (but Edmondson is- as is Shaunessey) - so they may well all be in the squad for Forest game ? I thought Pearce did OK last night and Clarke has looked impressive in his 2 cameo appearances - I do note that Bielsa has said Clarke is more likely to be an impact sub than a starter in the near future - like many I thought he may be brought on last night in place of Pearce Dave ___ Leedslist mailing list Info and options: https://mailman.gn.apc.org/mailman/listinfo/leedslist To unsubscribe, email leedslist-unsubscr...@gn.apc.org Find us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/leedslist/ RIP Jimmy WAC-COE

It was certainly good to see us not look clueless again. Amazing how two players whom I didn't rate much last season could turn out to be so influential for us this one.
