Bishop?! Not much danger of the dreaded purple shirt anytime soon. I still

I didn't know that ref and I also got the name of an early manager wrong
(won't say who in case anybody else still wants to try it) so got 10 right.

Call me paranoid if you like (as my wife does) but this snippet showed
perfectly the BBC's hatred of Leeds. I think there was a previous bloke on
M/mind who did Leeds several years ago and IIRC it was the same thing. Out
of 12 questions they managed to bring up...us losing the 65 Cup
Final, Billy being sent off in disgrace at Wembley, and us being thrown out
of the league for illegal payments...oh and poor old Mick Jones
doing his shoulder in at Wembley. The only mention of any of our European
Cup glories was a match we lost.

One thing that's always puzzled me: why did this particular game get such a
huge crowd? There have been so many bigger games than a 5th round FA Cup tie
vs Sunderland played at SOTG, but this is our record attendance.

There was massive rivalry between Leeds and Sunderland at the time, following
on from comparisons made by the media between the two teams during the 2nd
division promotion season. It was a midweek evening cup REPLAY and from memory
it was all pay on the gate -certainly in the standing areas. I think the draw
for the next round had also been made and I think Man City awaited. There was a
strong feeling that we were going to Wembley again.
For Sunderland fans at least, these feelings continued to the later Wembley FA
cup final, and possibly still do.
Hope I have this right - from memory.

As Max Boyce was wont to say I know, 'cos I was there...

Yes, I was there that night - stood on one of those little wooden steps that
dads used to make in those days for their lads to stand on, and was
somewhere in the middle of the Lowfields Road terracing.

We had no idea what had happened, to us there simply seemed to be a huge
surge, Dad hung on to me (I was only 12 years old then) and we rode the
storm, though I don't recall it as such.

I did lose my step however, but as things settled down in the crowd, someone
called out that they had found one, yes it was mine and 50 yards from where
we now were!

Try as I might I can't really remember much more than that

Thanks Guy for making the effort to write out all the questions.

I was there. Outside the ground, one of the many who could not get in.

Same here. Was watching people climb over the wall into the shed after they
closed the gates. Whatever the crowd figure is officially - there were a few

I heard that and meant to revisit this last series for any other
references - think Brian makes some.
