Mark - you're a sensible bloke, so can I ask what the f*** you're on about?
Just because people are public servants doesn't mean you pay their wages. Of
course Beeb executives are accountable, just not to you!

Beeb made right decision to tell the story - they're crooks, they know they're
crooks, there's more evidence for all to see that they're still crooks, and we
were never going to win the bid anyway. As for this notion it'd give us a
better chance to win the World Cup at home - tsskk - did you not see the France
game at Wemberlee?? Ingerland will never win the World Cup in our lifetime
Mark! Accept that and World Cups become more entertaining - I like it best when
we don't qualify :-)

I think they were correct to air it too, it's about time all the corruption in
that organisation was investigated.

Definitely correct in airing when it was ready to air. That's what news is (or
should be) all about. The fact that delegates had the nerve to admit that they
voted based on the news story (probably a cop out anyway) just proves the point
even further.

They are supposed to be doing their job, in voting for  a member Association,
to
host based on the strength of the bid, not on their personal feelings and self
interest. They are a joke and a bad one at that!

Save your anger and indignation for those who truly deserve it, not the
messengers who did their job and a public service in exposing the sham for what
it is.

2010-12-04 Thread Mark Humphries
Who gives a fuck if Fifa have some corrupt delegates and we won the bid?
Whats the worst that could happen, Russia accuse us of bribing Fifa?

As long as we run a clean bid, the most important thing was to get the world
cup here, to boost the economy and boost football at the grass roots in this
country. Oh and also give us half a chance of winning the thing.

And actually, I happen to think the message would have been a hell of a lot
stronger if the allegations were made AFTER we won. What reason would we
have to make them when we won, apart from genuinely wanting to get it
cleaned up?

The bloke should be sacked. We pay his wages, we have no choice, he is not
directly accountable for his actions, so the BBC should be forced to sack
him.

In terms of its timing, we only obtained the list of these payments last
month after a secret out-of-court settlement was reached in June
2010 year. That followed an investigation into the ISL bribes by a Swiss
magistrate and concluded with unnamed Fifa officials paying back £3.5
million.

It has taken many weeks to ensure that the allegations we are making were
properly tested and that all those named were given a fair opportunity to
respond.

There have also been calls for us to put the programme out after the vote on
the bid. I understand why people feel strongly about us not tipping the
chances against England's 2018 bid.

But surely it's right for the British public to be informed about the nature
of Fifa and its demands before we win - if we do?

Left leaning? don't make me laugh. Are you suggesting that England not
getting the WC was some sort of socialist plot hatched in a Trotskyist
underground cell and gleefully executed by the BBC fellow travellers(*)?

They may be publicly funded (another scam involving tax payers funding the
elite) but they are commercially and professionally astute and they showed
their programme at truely the maximum impact time - not a whiff of sour
grapes as been before the fact either. Weren't you in the business?

Damian

(*) Stalin - Beria, how are our plans to capture the WC coming along
Beria - Our infiltration of Harrow and Cambridge means we have the BBC
stitched up for generations to come. We will strike when the time is right.
Stalin - Ho ho ho,
Beria - Ha ha ha
