Well the knobs finally arrived. I don't understand why it takes 3 days from
China and much longer from the states.

They work a treat - I got the 10 they said they were supplying - so if anyone
needs one let me know. They are now advertised at over £4 each for a pack of
10! Jeez.

I'll probably now find the one that is somewhere in my workshop.

a 5/16" carriage bolt would work well.

The knob for the index wheel is a 5/16-18 thread. The split nuts are held on
with 1/4-20 threads.

Acrylic can be tricky. If its melting, you need to speed up your feed or
reduce the depth of cut or reduce the router speed or sharpen your cutting
tool. Legacy had a pen video a long time ago showing a one pass cut, bit it
was cheating a bit. Super hard wood you can almost get away with it. Bill's
right, sneak up on your final cut or you might have a problem taken your next
cut because nothing will be left! At least wood is easier than plastic and
metal to add too!

Re: REVO (again)

2019-08-12 Thread 'Curt George' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
 Hey Ray.
One more thing on the cutting  acrylic's (On second though, ANY thing on the
Legacy)
Make LOTS of light cuts for the best results. Taking off the edges before
turning will also help a lot.
I've cut Acrylic's, PVC,Corrian. and Bone as well as a number of different
woods with my Legacy.
The Legacy will cut the hardest materials with out any problems,IF YOU Just
Don't try to remove to much in one bite. (the hogging off method, is Hard on
the machine, and router bits, it dose not save any time for you in the long
run.)  So as a general rule of thumb.I like to use. is.
"To go FAST, you must, First go slow"... Slow and steady will always get you
there, safer and with better quality.
ALSO another trick I use is, Hone every router bit, After you are done with it.
and then put it away. This way ,when you need a bit, it will be sharp and ready
to go. Cutting with a dull bit can cause alot of problems.Work Smart, Not
harder.  ;-)

Wonder if anyone can help with any of the following please.

What is the thread on the knob hold in the Index wheel.  Its the same as the
one that locks the router and also the half threaded plastic gubbins that goes
on the long threaded thingy.

I unscrewed the index wheel - something went ping and the knob hit the floor,

I managed to get the REVO up and running today (yeehahhh) so I'm almost back in

I also managed through the group to get a copy of the assembly instructions

Are there instructions for the Rotary Table and the Vertical vice available do

on the long threaded thingy.

I unscrewed the index wheel - something went ping and the knob hit the floor,
bounced and despite a very thorough search I'm darned if I can find it. (found
lots of other useful stuff though). Looked through all my Legacy spares and its
not an item supplied.apparently.

I managed to get the REVO up and running today (yeehahhh) so I'm almost back in
business - tried to turn an acrylic pen as per Bill - acrylic shattered - but
I'll sort it.

I also managed through the group to get a copy of the assembly instructions
which helped enormously.

Are there instructions for the Rotary Table and the Vertical vice available do
you know?

Thanks to all the advice and help I've had so far - if I hadn't found this
group I would still be ages away from actually using the machine.

Ray

REVO (again)

2019-08-11 Thread Brafield Bodger
Morning folks,

Wonder if anyone can help with any of the following please.

What is the thread on the knob hold in the Index wheel. Its the same as
the one that locks the router and also the half threaded plastic gubbins
that goes on the long threaded thingy.

I unscrewed the index wheel - something went ping and the knob hit the
floor, bounced and despite a very thorough search I'm darned if I can find
it. (found lots of other useful stuff though). Looked through all my Legacy
spares and its not an item supplied.apparently.
