Well, it worked for awhile, but when I tried to extract the latest update to tree, it tells me the files are private and I need a password. I have never privatized any of my files and especially not my children's birth certificates. I put my usual password in there but no luck. How can I get it unprotected so that I can transfer the rest of the files? Thanks so much, in advance! I have the latest Legacy 7.4 Deluxe program. RE: [LegacyUG] AniMap on Windows 7
Wow! Windows 7 was released to manufacturing in Jul 2009 and it takes Goldbug until the end of August 2010 to make a patch for their program? Not impressive by my standards. Someone should make a program called AniGoldbug showing how their programming has slowly changed over the years. :-) However, the OP said the error message stated File B not present while another poster indicated no problems. I wonder if that difference can be explained by the install location, either Program Files or Program Files(x86)? Re: [LegacyUG] AniMap on Windows 7
I installed AniMap in the (x86) file. My Legacy and most of my other software is also installed there. To date, I have only had one software that was not compatible Windows 7. AniMap may be the second for me. Win7 is very good at compatibility for me and after Win7 has been out for so long, I never considered that the latest version of AniMap would not be compatible as well. My mistake. I'm glad my Legacy is compatible. Lana -- From: Brian L. Lightfoot br...@the-lightfoots.com Wow! [LegacyUG] Duplicate RIN numbers
If I go to the file on one of my ancestors and click on spouses his wife shows up twice with same RIN number. If I go to spouses under his wife it shows him as her husband twice with the same RIN number. The files appear to be identical except one shows two daughters and the other one. If I type new information on either of them it shows up in each of the duplicate files. I am afraid to try and delete one of them since everything I do to one updates the other one. I'm having a hard time understanding exactly what you are seeing, so these suggestions may or may not be helpful. 1. Have you done File Maintenance to see if that solves the problem? I have done this before. On a piece of paper, write all the peoples RINs, (unless memorized). Go to one of the 'duplicate' marriages and unlink the couple, then re-add the children to the now only marriage, using the RIN numbers. The only data that might be lost are the childrens' connections. No sources will be lost, but may need to be reconnected. Re: [LegacyUG] Duplicate RIN numbers
Scott, thank you for trying to help me out. In the title bars I have Sampson Trevethan [2482] and next to him his wife Ann Church [2485]. When I click on the Spouse Icon and go to Spouses of Sampson Trevathan [2482] Ann Church [2485] is listed as his wife twice with the same number [2485]. If I click on the Spouse Icon for Ann Church it lists Sampson Trevethan [2482] as a spouse twice with the same number. In Spouses of Sampson Trevathan [2482] if I click on the first listing of Ann Church as spouse of Sampson all the information is identical to that when I click on Ann Church as the second wife of Sampson, except on one they have one daughter and the other two daughters. I added some information for Sampson to my database and the data shows up on both of the spouse listings for Ann Church's spouse 1 Sampson and spouse 2 Sampson. However, when I go to my Index Sampson Trevethan and Ann Church are only shown once. I ran a duplicates search but their names did not appear. I will do a File Maintenance and see if that helps. I turned on the option to show married name in my Index but it did not work. Maybe I need to exit and reboot before it takes effect. Any other suggestion appreciated. I agree, Bob, but unlike AniMap, at least Legacy will run under Win7 with no problems. But as you said, both programs are getting to the point of being in dire need of modernizing their standards to the current OS offerings. Now before anybody says if I don't like Legacy so much why don't I go elsewherethe point is that I do like Legacy and think it superior to other competing products. RE: [LegacyUG] AniMap on Windows 7
Just for giggles, I would re-install and force it into Program Files instead of Program Files(x86)' just to see what would happen. Re: [LegacyUG] Duplicate RIN numbers
Children are connected to a marriage record (even if un-married). If a couple have been re-married, they might have a second marriage record and therefore children could be attached to either of the marriage records. If there is supposed to be only one marriage record, then follow Richard's suggestion. If there is supposed to be two marriages for the same two individuals, then what you see will be two MRIN's connecting the same two RIN's as spouses. RE: [LegacyUG] AniMap on Windows 7
Sounds like the program is hard-coded into looking for itself in Program Files instead of looking at registry values. It's about a 2 minute fix to the code but if Goldbug feels that there is more to fix, let 'em have at it. Maybe there's more problems under the hood (bonnet for those of you across the pond.) They know a lot more about writing code than I do. By the way, I didn't mean to infer that you were whiningI'm the one that usually does all the whining.
