Re: [LegacyUG] Delete key causes cursor to jump to next field
Hi Cathy, I have redefined the problem - it is the first use in a field of Delete followed by Right arrow that causes the cursor to move to the next field. The problem arises when working in any of the Notes or Source detail fields, and probably in other areas too. The clipboard isn't the issue. I'm usually using Sourcewriter sources, but the same thing arises in Basic sources. Anywhere in a line, the first time I press Delete to remove a space (say one that has come from a BDM database) and then the right arrow to move along the line of text. The cursor then takes off to the next field. When I come to make another key stroke, I have to retrieve the cursor with the mouse. It seems to be only on the first use of **the delete key followed by the right arrow** in a field that makes the cursor jump to the next field. Once I have brought it back with the mouse it stays where I am working even for further use of the delete and right arrow keys. If I move the cursor to the next position for an amendment using the mouse there is no problem until I first use the combination of delete followed by right arrow. Then the cursor disappears out of the field. The problem is repeatable, and does not appear to be intermittent. I have this problem on a new computer that I set up a week ago, but I have had the same issue on my netbook and both computers for all builds of the program since the beginning of Legacy version 8 . I'm using Windows 8.1, 64 bit, 8Gb RAM, Legacy v8.0.0.439. I can't see any reason for this strange behaviour, or any setting in Customise that relates. This does not happen on subsequent occasions when I Delete something else in this original field. It only happens the first time I use Delete in a field. No other key causes this action. I have had this problem since the first build on Legacy 8, and it is still there in Build 439. Does anyone else have this problem? Have I got something set incorrectly? Or do we have a bug? I *love* doing .pdfs using the Relationship calculator, and prettying them up by including pictures. RE: [LegacyUG] Delete key causes cursor to jump to next field
I have a similar problem that I think only started with the latest update (8.0.0.439). I mainly work in family or index view. When I first go to Index my cursor is in the surname field. I have to use the page down key before using the down arrow key Otherwise, down arrow functions like a tab key and takes me from the surname field to the given name field. Once I page down, all is fine until I do a save in family view and then it starts again. Re: [LegacyUG] Sorting by date of birth
This capability has been requested before but not incorporated by Legacy. However, it can be done with LTools, thanks to Dennis Kowallek. The Legacy Index tab can be changed to display the User ID instead of the RIN (see Options), and thus can be sorted by that column. So the trick is to populate Legacy's User ID field with a sortable birthdate. (Assuming that you are not using Legacy's User ID field for something else.) In LTools, you would run this using the Run Raw SQL tool. Be sure to make a backup of your database first, or try this on a COPY of your good database. [LegacyUG] Privacy options problem with Descendant Narrative Report
First I told Legacy (Deluxe v 8.0.0.439 I'm using Windows 7-64bit) to exclude details for living individuals -- but it included all my events and God knows what else.
