Re: [LegacyUG] Windows 11

2021-11-05 Thread Ian Thomas
It's not unexpected that Legacy FT performs the same under Windows 11 as with
Windows 10.

I have always encouraged the upgrade to Windows 10 - unfortunately there are
still many who are "stuck" at Windows 7.
Note, however, that Microsoft is not really pushing hard for upgrades to
Windows 11 from Windows 10.

If you keep up-to-date with Settings > Update and Security, you may have a
message that reports that your computer can run Windows 11. Mine is a Dell XPS
computer with an i7-9700, so the computer hardware is 2+ years old.

There aren't any benefits for me in upgrading to 11 (it's free, of course), and
Microsoft has this note -
Note: Some Windows 10 features aren't available in Windows 11. Certain apps and
features may have additional requirements.

You can check your computer's situation here -
Windows 11 Specs and System Requirements |

I currently use Windows 10 and will continue to do so until Windows 11 has
been released for several months (closer to a year). Not taking any
chances. Have done the same, every time that Windows changes versions.

I have just upgraded to Windows 11 and Legacy 9 seems to work as expected. I
haven't done much with Legacy yet, but there doesn't seem to be a problem

Re: [LegacyUG] Windows 11

2021-11-05 Thread Kevin Ferguson
Roy,

If you are computer savvy and know how to use regedit then there may be a hack
around this if the issue is the TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Monitor). Basically,
it is an onboard chip to help protect your computer. It is possible to install
one 'after-market' but I am sure that would void any warranty you may have. I
believe that sometimes they are onboard but just not activated. I would contact
the people you bought the computer off and ask them if yours has one.

Kevin

Rita, I don't know, but the first thing to check is if your computer will run
Windows 11. My less than a year old computer doesn't pass the check when I try
to download Windows 11.

Re: [LegacyUG] Windows 11

2021-11-05 Thread Kevin Ferguson
Rita,

It has been reported that Legacy works just fine on Windows 11. As you are
buying a new computer it should be compatible with Windows 11 but it is easy
enough to check. Go to Settings > Updates and Security and it may tell you
there right away. If not, then you can check on the Microsoft website.
Personally, as support for Windows 10 doesn't come to an end until 2025 I am in
no hurry to upgrade from Windows 10 Pro. I will let others iron the bugs out! 

On that subject I understand that Windows 11 is going to be releasing updates
only every 6 months rather than every time you turn around like it does with
Windows 10 so that is good.

Bets regards
Kevin

I guess one of the things that we have to ask ourselves, is Windows 11 that
much better than Windows 10 so that we want to switch?

I believe we have had some users report that Legacy 9 will work properly with
win 11. To avoid possible disappointment, be certain there are drivers
available for any hardware you use, such as printers, doc scanner, flat bed
scanner, label printer, etc. Depending on the age of these devices, some may
not work with win 11. Good luck.Sent from my Galaxy
