Re: [LegacyUG] Marriage sequence is incorrect

2020-07-14 Thread Wally Lee
Hi Cathy,

If I have an issue in Legacy pertaining to marriages, my first intuitive move
would be to look up “marriage” in the Help file, which I did, but there is
nothing under “marriages” that I can choose that tells me how to re-sort
marriages.
Why would I look up up “sort” to start with, when my problem lies with
“marriages”?

Re: [LegacyUG] Marriage sequence is incorrect

2020-07-13 Thread Wally Lee
Hello Cathy,

Thank you, after I had posted my query, I googled “Legacy8 marriage sequence”
and immediately found the resolution to my problem.

support.legacyfamilytree.com/article/AA-00344/0/.html

Now I know where to look when I can’t find a solution in the Help menu of the
program (which is in itself pretty lame) and before I bother folks on this site.

Thanks again,

Wally

[LegacyUG] Fwd: Marriage sequence is incorrect

Subject: Marriage sequence is incorrect
To: Legacy User Group

I have been using Legacy 8 for a number of years now and have never run
across this problem before.

A person in my tree was married twice, first in 1953 and the again in 1958.

When I run Descendant Book or Descendant Narrative Reports, the sequence of
the marriages is incorrect.

What am I doing wrong?

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this problem would be much
appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Wally

Re: [LegacyUG] adding stories and pictures to an individuals file

2020-06-29 Thread Wally Lee
I also wish to add stories and additional pictures to Legacy so that I
would be able to include them in reports.
I am running Legacy8 but I cannot find the 'Stories section' that you refer
to.
In which dropdown menu in Legacy will I find the 'Stories section' that
you refer to, or do I need to upgrade?
I have tried to find this section in the HELP menu but the Help menu does
not include 'Stories'

Your help would be much appreciated.

Wally

This person has obvious mental health issues, and as such, should be dealt with

[LegacyUG] Legacy 8 Deluxe- Chart Creation Wizard has become corrupted

2019-07-25 Thread Wally Lee
Two days ago while using Legacy my computer froze while I was in the
process of generating a chart and as I was unable to restart it, I had to
perform a hard shutdown.

The forced shutdown does not appear to have caused any data corruption in
any of my numerous family files but now the Descendant Standard chart
(neither horizontal nor vertical orientation) will generate, only a few
disjointed short line fragments in the center of the otherwise empty chart.

All of the other charts still seem to work ok, even the Males Only
Descendant Charts.

At the time when the computer froze, a number of error message appeared but
I was only able to capture one of the messages:

Access violation at address 00A459C1 in module 'LegacyCharting.exe'.
Read of address 0057.

My version of Legacy shows in The File Properties as:
Version: 8.0.0.352
Build Date: 22 Nov 2013

Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated,

Regards,
Wally Lee

[LegacyUG] Can global edits be made in Legacy?

2019-06-28 Thread Wally Lee
This is my first post to the mailing list.
I wish to abbreviate place names in my database and I hope to be able to
format my individual changes only once and then apply that change to all
instances of this name in the database.

For instance, if I wish to change "Massachusetts" to "MA" in every instance
that it is found, how would I accomplish this without changing every
individual instance?

Thanks in advance,

Peter
