Re: [LegacyUG] Duplicate ID Numbers Software Problem?
The problem reported below (Clear all was not clearing User ID for marriages) is now fixed and is included in the latest update to Legacy 8.0. All User IDs, Individual and Marriage are now cleared. Re: [LegacyUG] Duplicate ID Numbers Software Problem?
Brian, Thanks for working on my problem. Is there any file in Legacy that saves anything about ID Numbers like the usr files? Or any chance the search for ID Numbers is also checking the MRIN or RIN numbers or something else? Or is the search stopping at the dash or something and/or calling all with some particular character a duplicate? I have scrolled through thousands of ID numbers and not found many duplicate ID numbers except for the Burleigh numbers being the same for everyone in Generation # 10, etc. That is only small portion of the reported duplicates. I did find some Ancestry numbers in the ID Number field and moved themG. Jay On 3/11/2014 8:45 PM, Brian/Support wrote: I applied the RINs preceded by RIN- to my database of about 5,000. The book was published in 1903, so many of the individuals she added to her data are descendants of some one in his book. She handled that by using the number for the last ancestor listed in Burleigh plus a dash number indicating the number of generations an individual is removed from B1. So, there can be many descendants with the same ID number such as B1222-10. I did a search for ID numbers starting with B and found 3,948 People with ID Numbers starting with B. Curious. I tried on my database which is about the same size and it only found 12 duplicates and all seem to be correctly identified. The duplicated id shows in the title line of duplicates window. The 220 set count include MRINs where the ID was set as well as the 160 individual RINS. The Sample database has 60 marriages and 160 people for a total of 220. The cleared count looks like it is not clearing those 60 Marriage IDs that were set. That is a problem I have input to our reporting system. Re: [LegacyUG] Duplicate ID Numbers Software Problem?
Jay, If you are referring to the User ID field. There is no software problem with that field. That field is not a number field but is a text field and can have any data in it you designate. The only numbers that should not have duplicates are the RIN and MRIN which are assigned automatically by the database. User ID This field is for any reference number you want to record for this individual. You can use any combination of letters, numbers and punctuation marks. There is a tool on the Options Customize Other tab where you can automatically fill the User ID fields for all individuals with the RIN numbers and optional text. -Original Message- From: J.M.
