Thanks Cathy,

I managed to get there after Chris’s message – I think the brain has been in
hibernation. I will save the posts for future reference in case it goes on
holiday again!

As always your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Any lists you create from Master Lists or detailed search that you can
tag can be sent to a spreadsheet by creating a CSV file when you go to
the Search List and click Options - Print in Legacy 9 and in Legacy 8
you'll find a Print button. Creating a PDF or CSV from here are both
deluxe features.

The "Print" is customisable to include the fields you want to see. Note
that it can include 3 "rows" which are just extra columns when you
create a csv. Then you can sort the columns in a spreadsheet.

Here's a link to an image showing where the CSV button is.

The link will expire at the end of the month.

For the surname list:  Go to VIEW, then MASTER LISTS, scroll down to
SURNAMES.  Go to OPTIONS and select PRINT.

For location and who was associated with that spot:  Go to VIEW, then
MASTER LISTS, scroll down to LOCATIONS. Go to OPTIONS, select PRINT
and then select PRINT REPORT. There are 2 tabs with multiply choices.
You can choose along the way to see just tagged locations, all of
them, the untagged ones - however you wish to play with the list.

Somewhere in the deep recess of my brain I am sure I remembered making
a list of the surnames in my tree plus the various areas associated
with the surnames.

It must have been in another lifetime as I have no recollection of how
I achieved this. I am fairly sure that I managed to get it into a
spreadsheet – but that has joined the ether as well.

If this can be achieved could someone please give me simple steps as
to how I can do it – or is it merely something I dreamt about??

Many thanks

Hi

From View and Name List, take Options and Print to get to the List Report
Options, where can specify the fields to be extracted. At the bottom right
there are options for Screen/Printer, CSV or PDF. Take the CSV version and
Create. Let it create the file and then you can open it.

I have made a name list and then added Birth, Christening. Death and Burial

do is to print or save it as a pdf file or a jpg file.

How about using the name list with the name plus the locations and times for
birth, baptism, death, burial, marriage and event. Put that into an .CSV file

location.

Re: [LegacyUG] Lists - Surnames and area

2020-02-14 Thread Lynn Bernhard via LegacyUserGroup
I've done the same thing, but it is tedious. I did it buy listing each location
and then manually extracting the place names, then entering them into a
spreadsheet. Boring but worthwhile. It lead me some relationships that I had
not made before and also to interrelated families that I had not understood
before. This also led to recognizing some variant spellings that I had never
thought of.
