Jenny No all you do is click Dictionaries, choose the word you approved erroneously and delete the word. Close the dictionary and if you want to then run spell checker again. Henry p.s. All dictionaries are kept in the Dictionaries subfolder within the Legacy storage structure. The files have an extension of TLX or CLX and have names that indicate the language. For example, userdic-us.tlx is, as you might expect, the US spellings dictionary. Apparently, Legacy uses the Sentry Spelling Checker Engine for Windows from Wintertree Software. In their support pages, I came across a description of a problem in the Spell Checking Applet which seems to be very like what you initially described happening. Basically, the Applet can report every word as a misspelling, and no words appear in the suggestion list. A very common cause of this problem is Spell Check Applet being unable to open its dictionaries. The applet uses its dictionaries to determine which words are spelled correctly. If the applet is unable to open all of its dictionaries, all words will be reported as misspelled. If the applet is unable to open one or more of its dictionary files, then some valid words may be reported as misspelled. RE: [LegacyUG] Spell Check
I have found that a new given word, needs to be added into Legacy, but also added into WORD, EXCEL, and sometimes to a second document in them, which hints they use different dictionaries. On those two words, (a guess) since 'born' may have been left out of the dictionary because it is not normal in business letters, and York in America is usually preceeded by 'New'. This doesn't matter, I just add them and wonder why they were missing.
