I make my living doing editing and have had no trouble before [or minor] with
LIbreOffice...until LibreOffice 5. First, annoying but not critical is that one
can NO LONGER tell if one has set it on track changes and/or show changes
[before one could tell after one had set that to where it was set - now not!
Fix this!]

However, just impossible to work with is when one sets it on 'do not show
changes' [as one can NOT edit a long and complex paper seeing the changes - I
can't anyway!] EVERY time the document is saved [often in my case, but that is
not important] the entire MS reverts to the view of SHOWING changes. FIX THIS
FAST - or the editing function is useless in my opinion.

LibreOffice 5.0.1.2. crashes from time to time (Ubuntu 14.04 on Dell Latitude
3540: Invidia Graphic Card and 4 GB of RAM) from no obvious reason. The reason
could be the PPTX presentation I decided to open... but the next time I open
the same PPTX, everything is just fine. Or if I want to enable some toolbars,
LO crashes. But next time (mostly) everything is just fine... it happens from
time to time (once in two days, unexpected). However, most of my job can be
done but I am forcing autosave every 5 minutes (and this bug is making autosave
a bit unusable: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=93574)  

I tried to disable OpenCL, font replacement table I used, and I increased
memory to graphic cache. I will report if the situation is changed. Also, I
remove LO 4.4 config file and let Lo 5.0 to create a new one. This did improve
situation a bit, but still it happens. 

Is there any log file I can obtain when such situation happens? I would like to
give you more details about this problem, but there is no obvious cause. So I
decided to report these unexpected crashes of LO starting from Lo 5.0 in case
some more users are affected.

I do not get the problem visible in usgs_tut_2_st_pauls_error.png when I save
usgs_tut_V_0.doc and reload.
Image wraps remain as "before" and anchor "to character" like in the original.

Do I understand you correctly that these companies expect to benefit from
LibreOffice without investing anything to its development? If yes, this is
unfortunate and an unsustainable approach.

Regarding the HIDMAIN values in fax and letter wizards, they're 41180 and 40820
respectively, which are used as an array position in wizards/common/HelpIds.py. 
Taking a look at that file, I see that WIZARDS_HID0_WEBWIZARD has HID:34200.
What happens if you use 34200 instead of 46000?

Yet another obscure keyboard shortcut, which has to be assigned so that it
doesn’t conflict in any locale, cannot be easily remembered, could be pressed
by accident by users, and will be definitely helpful as that is a setting you
need to toggle all the time, like Bold and Italic?

Sorry, that is just not the right approach. Is Tools > Options so hard to open?

Just installed Libre Office 5.0.1 on my Win7-64 system.

Tried to insert an image from my scanner into Draw from the Menu path of
'Insert\Media\Scan\Source' and 'Insert\Media\Scan\Request'.
The Help file did not open with anything except a column of Icons.
I seem to be shooting in the dark.

Draw crashed and went into a 'Data Recovery' mode.
Yes, my Printer/Scanner (Canon MF3240) was on and has worked with other
programs.

Any ideas?

Word Doc have same wrong indent values

Both A and B have same, wrong indent values. Your patch only addresses A. Since
B is still broken, is it possible that you are fixing the problem at the wrong
level?

OK... Don't understand this then... weird :)

Using "Libreoffice Icon size and style: Small / Oxygen" without
"libreoffice-icon-theme-tango" present the expanders are missing. With
"libreoffice-icon-theme-tango" and the expanders are shown.

As it 'works for you' and I have a 'fix' I guess we'll leave it at that. Thanks
for your time in looking at this.

the tarball contains hello.odp and hello_ws.odp

I have a presentation(hello.odp) originally made with 4:3 aspect ratio, then I
convert it to 16:9(saved as hello_ws.odp), and found the Chinese characters in
the title display abnormally in slides 9~11.

This bug only affects libreoffice-still(Arch Linux, version 4.4.5-2), and the
bug disappears in libreoffice-fresh. The font I used is
adobe-source-han-sans-cn-fonts.

P.S. I'm using i3 window manager, if the loimpress is the only window, the bug
appears, but the bug disappears when it has more than a window in the
workspace.

Just installed LibreOffice 5.0.2.2 over 4.4.

All went well except when I tried "Check for updates" nothing happened.

I know it's a new release but I didn't even get "LibreOffice is up to date".

Also, "Help" tells you how to configure automatic updates i.e.
Tools>Options>LibreOffice>Online update.

However, there is no "Online Update" showing in Options.

Looking into the matter, it seems that there is a difference in approach
between Excel and Calc.

In Excel, you can create the list in cells, then link the cells from the cell
which is to be a dropdown. No named range is created.

In Calc, you can create the list in cells, but then you need to name the range.
In the dropdown cell, you reference the named range.

I then saved the the file I added the dropdown using Calc. I opened the new
file using Excel, the new dropdown I created worked (cell B30), but none of the
others (which had been created using Excel) worked any longer.

The Name that was created in Calc to define the range is also not visible in
Excel.

Unfortunately, even though govts claim to support open source, they tend to all
use MS. Consequently they create forms which one has to complete. If you are an
exclusively Open user (and do not have the MS tools), then this can be a
problem.

I checked this out in OpenOffice Calc, and it acts in the same way as LO Calc.
Thus it is not a regression or bug, but an inconsistency between Excel and
Calc. Not sure how you deal with this,

I'm not really sure. I just ported the java code to python. I remember it
worked properly at that time, so perhaps something changed in the python Uno
bindings. There are other dialogs/windows inheriting from  UnoDialog2, like
StatusDialog; are they broken as well ? 

It's true that fax, letter, ... inherit from WizardDialog, so there is no
point, I guess, on keeping the Web dialogs different. Hence, I think your
approach is correct.

Might be Linux specific, then.

Seen also on 5.0.2.2.

Finding a 100% sure strategy to reproduce the leftover help texts seems hard.
Basically, help texts appear to be left over at random. Sometimes they are left
over even when you switch between different sheets.

Unfortunately, help texts that remain are not just graphical glitches, but
logical ones. Namely, when you click with the mouse, the cells below the help
text are not clickable and if you select them with the cursor, they get
selected below the help text without being redrawn on top of it.

With this, help texts are completely unusable with LibO 5 calc in Linux.

The attached screenshot gives you an example.

This has nothing to do with the sidebar. attachment 118934 shows a combobox,
and in fact no combobox anywhere in the LO GUI shows a drop shadow, including
the very same font name box from the formatting toolbar. So let's scope this
bug on the issue showed in attachment 118936.

Hi,
I've reported bug 89463 - this is about "legacy cursor movement behavior when
selecting". I accept explanation of Mr. Kohei Yoshida that this is  an
intentional change.
I in general expect "legacy cursor movement", but after some test cases I've
found that some time a new behaviour is needed.

Conclusion: I suggest to add possibility to define keyboard shortcut which
allows to change "new" to "legacy" without calling menu
tools/options/calc/general.

Are you sure there is no relationship? The symptoms are identical. If I follow
the steps to reproducing this in Word instead of Writer, I end up with the same
results in Writer. Both the erroneous paragraph style values and the fix are
the same.

In the figure, you see a screenshot of calc.

One is working on a sheet, and still has an help text left over that is from
another sheet!

The leftover help text covers the spreadsheet making it totally unusable. the
only solution is to save and reload the spreadsheet.

This is not just an RTF problem, or a FILEOPEN problem, but persists in
document EDITING, when changes elsewhere can cause the font size to change
again, even when spaces have neen inserted into those empty lines, and the
containing paragraphs have been forced to the desired font size, when the
document is in ODT format.

In particular, adding an alphabetic index can cause that font size reversion,
and when the page ends in a page break, can cause an additional page to be
inserted, destroying the careful matching of lines on facing pages, and leaving
the index entries out of kilter with the referenced text, once the font sizing
is (again) manually restored.

That might be a fault with indexing, but there's a primary instability in the
font sizing, and that should be MAJOR rather than minor.

A related problem reported as bug 50831 was fixed, but only (I think) for empty
paragraphs, though the problem reported was also for font sizing in empty
LINES, presumably following a hard line feed.

An afterthought I haven't quite figured out. I re-installed 4.4 to work around
this, but any document I had first had in 5 would NOT work at all [no buttons
responded at all] in 4.4. I'm not sure why this is so and seems very odd

Not reproduced with .ODT.
With .DOC, the character formatting bled to the preceding words (I set font
size to be bigger in one word), but this is a different problem than the one
described here.

Except a typo I fixed on 2015, UnoDialog2.py hasn't changed since the end of
2012.
So indeed since it's a dialog and the other dialogs inherit from WizardDialog,
let's inherit of it too.

The next thing is to understand how to use HIDMAIN to replace random value
"46000" (where to declare it, which value, etc...perhaps a new file
"FTPDialogConst.py" ?)
Then how to replace properly PushButtonType_OK_value, cancel and help.
I'll try to investigate (I think I could find soluce for PushButtonType in git
history of other dialogs).
However, if you have already hints in mind, I'd be very interested of course!

Users may like to customize the predefined templates e.g. in order to insert
their address or to translate the template into their own language. This is not
possible. It's only possible to create an additional template.

In order to reproduce the bug:
[1] Start LibreOffice and open template Manager: File > New > Templates
[2] Select: Tab Documents > folder Business Correspondence > “Moderate”
business letter
[3] Click Edit. The document is opened in read-only mode.
[4] Click Edit Document. The message, that the document cannot be edited,
possibly due to missing access rights, is displayed and you are asked if you
want to edit a copy of the document. Expected: Template should be editable.

Proposal in order to fix this bug: If a user profile does not exist and
LibreOffice is started the first time, the predefined templates should be
copied into the new user profile. Hence the user has the right to modify files
in his profile, it should be possible to edit templates.

In company we (40 users!) also have problem with image caption.

For me it seems that LibreOffice5 thinks that image doesn't have caption (right
click, it allows to add caption and don't have possiblity to edit caption).

After clicking F9 (refreshing) images shows.
The best results as far I've got when I zoomed out document, clicked F9 and
export it to pdf.

In bigger documents, I have to export few pages and join multiple pdf's in one
after that.

For us importance of the problem should be critical. We cannot work on version
5 and above.

Sorry for my bad English.
Broken UI and spreadsheet display issue after opening specific .xlsm. I
attached a screenshot.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open attached xlsm file.
2. Click any menu in top of the window or open context menu.
3. Click "+"/"-" in spreadsheet.
Actual Results:  
Broken UI - menu items and dialogs (find/replace, save/not save when closing
etc) are not displayed correctly but respond to a click.
Spreadsheet display issue - "+"/"-" not respond to a click.

Expected Results:  
Normal display of menu items and dialogs.
"+"/"-" must expand/collapse tree.

Field list on Pivot table doesn't update

Hi,

I just installed the new release 5.0.2.2 today.

While doing an phone account analisys, I needed to add a new column.

When I try to insert a pivot table, the new column doesn't appear in field
list, even using the interval assistant.

I am using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 running Android 4.4.2.  Downloaded and
installed LibreOffice Viewer present version from Google Play on Sept 19, 2015
and deleted and reinstalled it on Sept 22, 2015.  Having the same problem as
Marcos.  When I use LibreOffice Viewer once to open a .odt file I cannot do so
again.  When I try to open the same .odt file a second time I get the error
message "LibreOffice Viewer has stopped".  This occurs even when I try to open
.rtf files.  Once I clear the tablet's memory cache I can then open the .odt
file desired. Whenever I want to view a .odt file on my tablet, I am now
clearing the tablet's cache memory before I open the LibreOffice Viewer app.

Good Morning to everybody. Today It Crash again, and I only was editing a
writer file, specificy the header, but in this case I can finish editing and
when I want to save the file, it crash, and the same dialog (in the attachment)

With regard to Pawel's and other users' comments, and from my experience, I
read, I get the impression that the problem impacts bigger, heavier and more
complex documents.

Maybe that is why it is so difficult to produce a test document from scratch,
precisely because it will be much lighter with less features.

If a person makes a single paragraph in a minute, this method of producing a
random ID is very good. But, if a person make many paragraphs without
appropriation of IDs, during a saving all paragraphs get IDs. It is less than a
minute. So the part that changes is the last three digits for this case.

It also proves the mathematical statistics. There is beautiful example in
wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Birthday_problem

For this case, 50% is achieved already at 6 paragraphs.

I put a trivial because it is very easy to get round.

PS: This can be done as follows: Delete the first part of the year ("20"), it
will be repeated another 100 years :) and to add one more random.

Seems to be harder than i thought, as i was able to get the entry to appear in
the context menu, but clicking it wont open the dialog.
