[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157447] New: Calc does not preserve cell padding on other undo operations

2023-09-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157447

Bug ID: 157447
Summary: Calc does not preserve cell padding on other undo
operations
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.5.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: bn.muruga...@gmail.com

Description:
Cell padding was set to 1.0 for entire sheet.
Edit a cell value. Did an undo operation.
Expected only the edit value operation to be undone. But the cell padding
changes to the default value.

This happens even if the cell padding was set in previous sessions and not in
this session.
This is present in previous versions of Calc also.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Make a change to cell value.
2.Undo the change.
3.

Actual Results:
The cell padding automatically changes to the default value.

Expected Results:
The cell padding is preserved.

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Workaround is to set the cell padding every time to the desired value.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157336] Spreadsheet Function AVERAGE Doesn't accept more than 30 arguments

2023-09-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157336

One could argue that this is not a bug as there is a work around as one can use
a nesting of functions i.e. MAX(arg1, arg2, MAX(arg3,arg4)) You mentioned that
something like A2:A2 would work but these cells are contiguous. In my
application, the MAX (or AVERAGE) function was using a list of spreadsheet
cells that are not adjacent to each other. I have to add specific cells to the
list by using a mouse click + command key (on a Macintosh) on the cells of
interest.

The other point that is concerning about this is that it is misleading to the
user. They enter a formula into a spreadsheet cell that calculates a value,
but when the spreadsheet is closed and reopened, The value that is previously
calculated is replaced with a value of #N/A in the cell that had the original
function. If there is really an issue with the formula, it should be indicated
to the user once they hit the return key to accept the formula.

Dear freeman3,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

tdf#152029 Fix sections not brought to attention in master document

SwSectionFormats::FindFormatByName doesn't seem to find section formats
by name for sections of a document contained in a master document. This
causes the document sections to not be brought to attention by hovering
the mouse over the section entry in the Navigator. This patch makes the
document sections be brought to attention by using an approach similiar
to what is done to fill the sections entries in the Navigator content
tree.

I'm not entirely sure. The issue in bug 152534 seems to be global, whereas this
one seems to affect only the Page Size dropdown menu. As an example, Page
Margins, Orientation, and Page Columns are unaffected. I added the attachment
"Layout tabbed menu - Page Columns dropdown menu" as a sample.

We have a few bug reports related to DPI + cropping issues, see for example bug
92375 and bug 112538. But given that you describe a Windows-specific issue (and
I can confirm that I can't reproduce on Linux, switching between 100% and 200%
scaling), I think we can mark this as a duplicate of bug 84800.
Please feel free to add more information there, or let me know if you disagree

So is there potential for clarifying the current description?

The original string in English is:

"Replace << and >> with angle quotes"

There are longer strings in the same dialog already, so we could have something
more verbose.

Julien suggests in French:

(In reply to Julien Nabet from comment #12)
> "Remplacer 2 chevrons d'affilée, gauche ou droite, par des guillemets
> français"

My suggestion for English:

"Replace double chevrons (<< and >>) with angle quotes (« and »)"

Or:

"Replace double chevrons (<< and >>) with guillemets (« and »)"

Having both sets of characters makes the difference more obvious in my opinion.

Hossein, an easyHack candidate I assume.

Reproduced on daily master build. Also reproduced on 3.3, but with slightly
different results.

Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: 486ae5db6987411d5e394de94b2b077099d03856
CPU threads: 6; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 22621; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (en_US); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

With regards to the pasting issue, it seems that the data is pasted where the
cursor is positioned. However, the cursor position is irregular when the undo
action occurs, so the pasted position is irregular. In addition, the missing
content sometimes (but not all the time) is pasted within the same cell as
another.

1. Select the first 4 cells dragging RIGHT to LEFT, then DOWN.
2. CTRL+X (cursor is at bottom LEFT cell)
3. CTRL+V (data pastes at bottom left cell)
4. CTRL+Z
5. CTRL+Z (cursor is at bottom RIGHT cell)
6. CTRL+V (data pastes at bottom right cell)
7. Expand bottom right cell downward ("missing" data is pasted there)

Steps for missing data not pasted within any other cell:

1. Select the first 4 cells dragging from TOP to BOTTOM, then RIGHT.
2. CTRL+X (cursor is at bottom RIGHT cell)
3. CTRL+V (data from first cell pastes at bottom right cell)
4. Expand bottom right cell downward (missing data is NOT pasted)

Right now we're just generating a name. That's certainly bad.

So, a prompt would "resolve" this; but if the user doesn't want to provide a
name, it seems like the filename is a good default. So let's change the default
to the (base) filename; and when 39558, the prompt will allow a different
choice.

I have another file with 620 Buttons stacked neatly into "Fit to cell" -
"Resize with cell" columns and that works perfectly. As would be expected, the
mouse scroll provides a dynamic update as it moves over each button.

That sheet has a chart which is in an area that has never seen a button and
there's no "interference" from URL legends.

Are you observing the same issue with scrolling through the button properties
and is it a seperately reportable "feature"?

Deleting the chart, doesn't solve the issue for me.

I think it is something in relation with the forms properties.
Doing a copy of 'Hand' button, and pasting in it the URL of 'Data' button, it
works fine for me.

Does using the Windows settings "Choose default by file type" resolve your
issue?

.img files are not even remotely a filetype handled by LO.

(In reply to anixxsus from comment #0)
> Also, possibly, a separate issue, but after installing LO 7.6 the desktop
> context menu "Create net text document" started to create new text files
> with capitalized extension .TXT by default instead of former .txt.

I'd be surprised if LO had any impact on the default template Windows uses for
new plain text files.

Which version of Windows do you use, and is it up to date?
And when installing LO, which options do you tick in the "File Type" step of
the installer?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157444] New: Difficult to determine an image's format after insertion

2023-09-25 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157444

Bug ID: 157444
Summary: Difficult to determine an image's format after
insertion
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: LibreOffice
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: eyalr...@gmx.com

Suppose I insert an image into an LO module. How do I know whether the image is
raster or vector? And what its more specific format is?

I can't tell by looking at it, obviously; the context-menu doesn't offer any
appropriate image meta-data; the "Name" and "Description" don't say anything
relevant (and don't mention the original filename, with or without extension;
that's bug 87408; but it wouldn't really help much). It is only when you
"Save..." the image that the output file type drop-down listbox tells you what
the format is. That is not intuitive enough, and one should not need to pretend
to want to save the image in order to determine its format.

Thank you for the suggestion, Phil.

Just for the record (and for easier search), the feature is called "Load Styles

Thank you both.

Reproduced as described in attachment 189605. Here it is for easier access:

0. Open attachment 189503
1. Open Pivot Table properties by right clicking on any cells inside it >
Properties; double-click the ‘a’ field inside the ‘row fields’ box.
2. Click on "Options"
3. Pick "Descending" in the "sort by" options (keep in mind some versions might
have bug 157192)
4. Pick "Sum -c" as data field to sort.
5. Press OK on all dialogs

Testing with the linux-64-releases bibisect repo, I can reproduce in
libreoffice-4.4.0.3 but not in libreoffice-4.3.0.3, so I am assuming it is the
same issue as bug 150961 and marking as duplicate.

Thanks m.a.riosv.

In a way, "Build ID" is misleading. Maybe a better name would be "Last commit"?

I kind of agree with Mike, would be most useful for debug and daily builds,
where we have dozens of builds for a single version number. -MM-DD is
probably sufficient.

I would be happy to have that information at a glance when doing QA work on
Bugzilla, but given that the information is one hyperlink away, I think the
priority is "low".

"rURL" is an OUString (a specific type defined in LO) and I don't think there's
regexp mechanism for them (but perhaps I'm wrong).
For just one space, we could also avoid regexp mechanism and use a dumb double
condition
if (pPortNumber && pPortNumber->GetValue() && (rURL.indexOf("port=") == -1) &&
(rURL.indexOf("port =") == -1))

since there's few chance people put more than 1 space and this part of code
doesn't need perf optim.

Also perhaps the right way would be to override "extractHostNamePort" so each
DB implementation (in subdirs connectivity/source/drivers/) would call the
ad-hoc function of DB API (Eg: in Postgresql, there's "PQconninfoParse" method)

I mean why trying to re-create a parser since DBs have already a function to do
it?
