Hi Geroge,

I will test this later on my Mac, but you should try updating to a newer
version and see if your problem still persists, and report back here. There
were are few known visual defects in the 3.4 series, maybe this was an extra
one that went unnoticed for a while. It would be good to have a test on one of
the latest versions of LO.

The autorecovery is an option stored in the configuration files (but I don't
remember which xml file). It might be in the general configuration files of the
program, or else in the user profile.

There will also be a lock file on the ODB stored somewhere in the users profile
or on his desktop, which may be hidden (so not visible by default in file
explorer). You would need to activate the Display Hidden Files option in
Windows Explorer in order to be able to see it. If this file exists, it will
have a flag set that triggers the autorecovery (I think). Find the hidden file,
and remove it.

Then try :

1) Stopping the quickstarter and any related soffice processes.
2) Renaming or moving the user profile
3) Restarting LO.

It would be helpful to have a testdb rather than just the form.
Additionally, is the problem reproducible in the latest stable 3.5.4 version of

Also, please try, as Sasha suggests, to see if the problem still exists in the

Hi,

Please try updating to a more recent stable version and report back here with
your findings.

Also, it might be that LO hasn't registered that you have Java 7, have you
checked that it is recognized in Tools Options General Java ?

There are known issues with Java 7 recognition and the crash could be a side
effect of that.

Windows specific, I don't see this problem on Mac or Linux (32 or 64bit).

However, it might well be a user profile corruption problem, or else one of
those hard to nail down Java recognition on Windows problems.

Chip, could you provide the exact version number of Java installed on your

Hi Fab,

Retrieval (attempt) :

IN THEORY

Unzip the ODB file, and inspect its contents, you should be able to find most
of the data in there somewhere (usually in a file called DATA if my memory
serves me correctly, if not then it is almost certainly gone. The same with the
DB creation script, any queries and any forms that you might have saved within
the ODB container file.

The DATA file is binary. In order to re-use it, you would have to create an
empty new ODB file, then close LO, unzip the new file and replace your data and
structure and query files with the ones saved from your crashed db.

IN PRACTICE
I've never done it, so YMMV.

Cells are formatted as Text that causes anything entered being accepted as text
and not evaluated for numeric values or formulas.
Clear the format (context menu Clear Direct Formatting) and re-enter the
formula then it works.
Note that the entire column E is formatted as text, so if you change values
they will be text as well and not numbers anymore..

Cyclone ODF validator rates reporter's sample as invalid:
Detected document version: 1.2
Manifest schema: OpenDocument-manifest-schema-v1.2.rng
Document schema: OpenDocument-schema-v1.2.rng
Error: in styles.xml
Expecting element map, got table-cell-properties
Element style has extra content: table-cell-properties
Extra element style in interleave
Invalid sequence in interleave
Element styles failed to validate content

Result: INVALID

@Eike Rathke
Are you sure? The Formatted as Text also might be a problem, but IMHO has
nothing to do with reporter's core problem. As you can see after double click
on E12, range E2:E11 will get the (blue) frame showing that it's the range used
for calculation. So E12 is (more or less) a real formula, not only some text
looking like a formula. Cell contents behaves as if menu 'Tools - Options -
Calc - Viewing - Show Formula' would be checked.

 @yan...@safe-mail.net:
 Real life application?
---
If you want to give users a chance to override automaticly calculated
containing of a cell without unprotecting the whole sheet, it's necessary
to get this feature working.

So, to answer your question: possible real life application (not finalized,
yet)

Sample file created and attached

Steps how to reproduce:
0. Download and open attached sample document
conditionalprotectionsample2.ods
Single sheet with sheet protection on
1. Insert a value in A5
2. Answer given question by choosing Yes in the list of E11
3. Try to insert any other value in A7
Expected: possible, because cell protection should be disabled
Actual: not possible

tested on: LibreOffice 3.5.3.2 German UI/Locale
   Build-ID: 235ab8a-3802056-4a8fed3-2d66ea8-e241b80
   without additional extensions
on german Windows XP professional SP3 32Bit (yes, I'm old fashioned)

@yan...@safe-mail.net
Misunderstanding! I know how what effects in Spreadsheet you expect and how to
reproduce the problem.

But I can't imagine any application in real life for what that should be
necessary or useful. If you can list some applications for what that can be
used that might be fixed soon (if it's in ODF definition), if you only know
exotic applications that will take some additional years until someone will do
a fix.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51650] New: EDITING: Impress freezes when adding text to an empty manual broken line

2012-07-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51650

 Bug #: 51650
Summary: EDITING: Impress freezes when adding text to an empty
manual broken line
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.3 release
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Presentation
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: ralf.woh...@conrad.de

When using manual line breaks (Shift+Return) and keeping a line in the end
empty, then deleting an other line and trying to edit the empty last line
(which my boss does :) ), LO/OOo freezes. CPU stays down.

Steps to reproduce:
 - Open a new (or saved) Impress document.
 - Edit the big text area (does not happen with the title) and enter: asd
Shift-Return asd Shift-Return so you have 2 text lines and one empty line
 - Move the cursor to line 1, select and delete the line (Pos1, Shift+End, Del,
Del ... it won't happen when using Shift+Down, Del)
 - Move the cursor to the empty line in the end and press a letter.

Actual Results: Impress freezes (does nothing any more, not even repaint the
page when moved offscreen and back).

Expected Results: Text should appear on the empty line.

A linux strace shows the same as starting on the console:

*** glibc detected *** /usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin: realloc():
invalid next size: 0x02d1d630 ***
(The Hex value varies)

Obviously there's a problem with text:line-break/ tags followed by an empty
text:span text:style-name=T1/ in the end when deleting a line before. Note
the / in the end.

OS: All, because the error could be reproduced under Ubuntu 12.04 (KDE, Unity
and E17), Windows 7 and Windows XP.

Reproduced under:

 - LibreOffice 3.5.3.2 Build-ID: 350m1(Build:2) Ubuntu 12.04 (current OpenJDK
and OracleJDK)
 - OpenOffice.org 3.2.1 OOO320m18 (Build:9502) Win7
 - LibreOffice 3.5.? Win XP

Both patches looked fine = pushed into master and 3-6 branch = let's close
the bug again.

Thanks a lot for the patches. Just a small hint. It would be easier if you
provided the patches with commit messages. You just commit locally and generate
the patches using git format-patch :-)

--- Comment #8 from yan...@safe-mail.net 2012-07-02 07:55:12 PDT ---
(In reply to comment #7)

I'm very sorry, but (of course) I'm not able to read anyone's mind
why she/he needs this feature in an application.
What I try to build with it is certainly an exotic application for
a limited number of users.

But nobody knows how many other users (private commercial) have
been faced with this problem making their work harder or they saw,
that it's impossible to hit the aim (of her/himself or her/his boss ...)
... and didn't report the bug or found another (much more labour-intensive)
solution.

I can see this feature in many applications, where sheetbuilder
care about flexibility and on-the-fly error-workaround without the
need to handover the actual work to a helpdesk for hours, days or weeks.
In most times, commercial users need a solution, or at least a workaround
for their specific problem a.s.a.p. (own experiences at work).

If this is not enough to push the priority to a level, where the waiting
time for a fix drops under a year, we all have to live with that.
I'm aware that hundreds of other issues may be more important than this
in the subjective view of their reporters.

The only thing I know is, that this bug is known for years now.
(early OO times)
Discussions about that can be found asking uncle google ...

If you think I'm some impolite, I'm very sorry but my english is not
the best and I personally have the view of a slightly disappointed user.

   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.5.4 release
  Platform: x86-64 (AMD64)

scatter plot vs column plot with mean value line

While attempting to insert a mean value line into a column graph, I noticed
that the line itself starts in the middle of the first bar, instead of the
starting on the vertical axes. Plotting the same data works for a scatter
plot.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Type a list of numbers into calc, ex:
 3
 5
 4
 3
 7
 9

2. Create a column graph
3. Insert mean value line
4. Notice that it starts in the middle of the first bar.

I have a screen cap below, showing the xy scatter plot with mean value line, vs
the column graph with mean value line. A picture is worth 1000 words.

I've also confirmed on other ubuntu boxes.

Ubuntu 12.04 x84
AMD Catalyst 12.6
Kernel 3.4.4
LO 3.5.4.2 - from website, not repos.

Dependency Walker log for 3.5.4

We are running a mix of XP and 7. We were upgrading from 3.4.3 to 3.5.4 and
LibreOffice broke on XP machines for users with Folder Redirection enabled. It
works fine with Windows 7, with or without folder redirection. We normally use
transform to disable some features but for this we tested with and without
transforms, Active Directory deployment and manual install.

Tested versions:
3.4.3 - OK
3.4.6 - OK
3.5.0 - Broken
3.5.4 - Broken
3.6.0 B2 - Broken

The application starts up on 3.5 (no GUI shows up), memory use grows to about
50MB and it works for ~30-60 seconds with some CPU use and it quits. There is
no error in Event Log. It creates this folder path (domain name changed):
\\domain.com\UserData$\UserProfiles\testuser1\Application
Data\LibreOffice\3\user\extensions\bundled
Pay attention that this is the only folder path in LO profile. There are no
other folders or files whatsoever! This is specific to 3.5.4
Then soffice.exe quits without error message.

3.6.0 and 3.5.0 create extensions.db and registry under bundled. Bundled
has 7 folders (com. extensions) with some files. Otherwise it's the same -
soffice quits silently after some time.

Attached is Dependancy Walker log for 3.5.4. Other versions are similar with
the same eventual error.
It shows that LO is repeadedly requesting SHGetSpecialFolderPath (%APPDATA%
path?). After trying for a while it quits with:
Second chance exception 0xE06D7363 (Microsoft C++ Exception) occurred in
c:\windows\system32\KERNEL32.DLL at address 0x7C812AFB by thread 1.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51665] New: Support of diagonal borders in Writer tables

2012-07-02 Thread bugzilla-daemon

 Bug #: 51665
Summary: Support of diagonal borders in Writer tables
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 3.6.0.0.beta2
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: enhancement
  Priority: medium

Table with diagonal border.doc

Diagonal borders are often used in business tables or tables with technical
descriptions. Currently, Writer does not support diagonal borders. Examples for
diagonal borders are given in the two attachments.

Please add the support of diagonal borders in Writer tables.

Competitive analysis: At least the programmes Microsoft Word, Corel WordPerfect
and KWord/Calligra Words support diagonal borders in tables.
Due to the lack of this feature in Writer, the import of a MS Word file also
fails to import diagonal borders.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 51586] Calc UI: Conditional formatting dialog broken in LO 3.6.0 Beta2

In order to see what is broken, please have a look at the two screenshots 1 and
2:
The conditional format dialog starts completely empty (screenshot 1). Even
after clicking on add (screenshot 2) it is fundamentally broken. It is not
really possible to enter any condition in this dialog nor assign a cell/number
format to it.

On pc Debian x86-64, with master sources updated today and with 3.5 branch
updated today, I don't reproduce the problem. I tried with a brand new LO
profile for each test.
I haven't noticed this kind of messages in logs.

Here is my Java version :
java version 1.6.0_24
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.11.3) (6b24-1.11.3-2)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.0-b12, mixed mode)

Do you reproduce this with other wizards ?
What Linux distribution and which version do you use ?
Do you have any specific LO extension ?
Did you try with a brand new LO profile ?
