[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56131] Download only the needed 3rd party source tarballs
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56131 David Tardon dtar...@redhat.com changed: What|Removed |Added CC||dtar...@redhat.com --- Comment #1 from David Tardon dtar...@redhat.com --- (In reply to comment #0) We currently download almost all 3rd party source tarballs even when they are not used. One solution is to define tarball names as configure variables and define them only when needed. This approach is already used for some extensions. It is also used for all gbuildified external modules. $ grep @ ooo.lst.in | wc -l 68 Another solution would be to improve the download script and support some simple syntax in the ooo.lst. module, e.g: 7376930b0d3f3d77a685d94c4a3acda8-STLport-4.5-0119.tar.gz if @BUILD_STLPORT@ == yes I do not think this is a good idea. I prefer the second solution because it is handy to have list of all 3rd party modules in one place ooo.lst.in file. In addition, it is easier to update the version in this short file. Finally, we should touch configure.in only when we want to change the logic of the checks. It helps with cherry-picking fixes for different LO releases. I agree that the a variable set in configure.in approach is not ideal, but at least it means the tarball name only needs to be changed in one place. In the previous state of affairs the name was hardcoded in ooo.lst.in _and_ in the module's makefile.mk (split into two parts--the upstream tarball name and the md5 hash). There is a third possible solution: to have all the download information directly in the external modules. My preferred format for that is 2 files for every tarball in a module: * tarball.md5 for the name and md5 (in fact, output of md5sum tarball) * tarball.url for source URL. This file should be optional for the default URL (http://dev-www.libreoffice.org/src). This would need a change to the tooling, of course, but I think it would be easier to use in the end. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Saved as .doc (XP/2000/2003), emailed to another person. That person opened this .doc in Microsoft Word 2010 Hebrew edition, then copied (from same Word) hebrew text from another document into this document. The hebrew text appeared as empty rectangles instead of Hebrew characters. The status line (bottom of the window) indicates MS Word treats it as text in Hindi. When using special paste and chosing RTF text or HTML text or plain text or unicode plain text, it gets pasted correctly as Hebrew characters. There is probably a Microsoft Word bug there (pasting from Word to Word should just work), but if we can avoid triggering it, that would be better. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51023 Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de changed: What|Removed |Added Version|3.5.4 release |3.5.4 RC1 --- Comment #39 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de --- New research results: This bug appears *first* in LibreOffice 3.5.4.1 (= RC1, build ID: 7306755-f4f605c-738527d-1cf4bc1-9930dc8). It is *not* in LibreOffice 3.5.3.2 (Build ID: 235ab8a-3802056-4a8fed3-2d66ea8-e241b80): in all 3.5.x versions until and including 3.5.3.2, slide sorting still works (mostly ;-) correctly, both in the slide sorter and in the left panel, when I test with attachment 63289. So this bug was not (as I always wrongly assumed: sorry for not testing this earlier!) introduced somewhere in the 3.5 development process, but precisely between the branching of 3.5.3 and the first RC build of 3.5.4.1. This should it make much easier to find the root of this regression. @ Thorsten Behrens, Rodo, Muthu Subramanian, and maybe others: Could you please check the (not too lengthy) list of commits between the branching of 3.5.3 and the first RC of of 3.5.4.1? Somewhere there in the committs made to the 3.5/3.5.4 branch must be the root of this regression; and if you can identify it there, it should be possible to fix it on the 3.6.x and Master branches. I create a rectangle in LibreOffice Draw, then create a text box of the same size to sit on top of it. If I then type a series of non-wrapped lines into the text box, and afterwards centre the entire text, the text will be centred both within the text box and the rectangle. Good: that's as intended. If, however, I type a long piece of text into the text box, which wraps within its fixed width, and again centre the text afterwards, the text will be off-centre to the left. It looks to me as though the longest fragment of text is locked to the left-hand edge of the text box, and the rest of the text in the box is centred according to that. Not good; but the text box can be moved to make the text properly centred within the rectangle, so it's not a disaster. One step further: if I take the text from the second case above, and *insert* line breaks in order to make each line fit within the width of the text box, then the text stays centred as before. Very idiosyncratic, and not very intuitive. I attach a LibreOffice .odg file which shows these three cases. I'm aware that there is no easy solution for it and that one has to be prepared to go on living with the issue for still a while, but it _is_ a problem for some usage scenarios. Problem: If you edit a large document in Writer (200+ pages) and use the record/track changes function (redlining) a lot to have revisions recorded, Writer will become more and more inefficient to work with due to the growing number of revisions recorded. (1) Disabling show changes is explicitly discouraged by LO (the dialogue that says: Hiding changes makes everything slow, would you not rather prefer to show them again?) because hiding changes makes editing a pain in larger documents. (2) Saving a file takes _much_ longer (rough guess: 3-10 times) with many changes recorded - and, I'm sorry, you cannot discuss that away with a Comment #2 like, Hey, 18 secs to save is not that long, and you can go and have a cup of coffee while LO is saving. Saving is not done in the background, and you have to wait for it to finish. And this does not only concern regular file saves via Ctrl-S, but also the auto-saves, of course. (And you need auto-save!) (3) For some reason, normal text editing isn't slowed down that much, but inserting a new paragraph is excessively so. Depending on the number of recorded changes, it can take 5-10 seconds to have it inserted. Interestingly, it's much faster to do the same thing by using the clipboard: Copy an empty paragraph and insert it where you want a new paragraph instead of hitting Return. Of course, all this concerns only people who edit large texts (200+ pages) and actually use record changes heavily (say, some hundreds of changes in the doc). But if this scenario covers your usage of LO, you _do_ have a problem. You have to split the document in 50-page units or disable record changes as much as possible. I think, with modern hardware in mind, editing a 400-page document with 10 recorded changes per page should be possible without a word processor becoming virtually unusable. But it's probably more of an enhancement than a bug... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

No workaround really, just stuck with incorrect formatting Low: Very specific situation which isn't very common -- superscripts in general just aren't used very often. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 48622] Line thickness specification - too many choices, nonintuitive
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=48622 --- Comment #6 from emir_s...@msn.com --- IMHO this should be a real priority about Calc development. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 54981] FILEOPEN: Libre office can't open a MS Access database 2003.

When LO (under Windows) seems to have a driver to connect to MS Access, and this driver doesn't work - why is this a bug of MS Access? There are some other reports for databases, created with Access and later connected with Base: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53070 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43187 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43227 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53080 ... I have no Windows-system here. So I can't connect to an existing Access-database. But in LO-Windows-versions it seems to be possible. Please read the steps to reproduce, as reported by Soon. I change the Status to unconfirmed, because there must be someone, who could test it with Windows and LO 3.6.1 or 3.6.2. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug. ___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
