Probably this is a duplicate of bug 50284.
 Can someone confirm, please?

Yes, IMHO this is the same issue as bug 50284, therefore I mark it as a
duplicate of the latter.

Nevertheless, thank you very much for your bug report! I hope that the
additional duplicate increases the weight of bug 50284, so that we will get a
fix for it some day ;-)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 56131] Download only the needed 3rd party source tarballs

2012-10-19 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56131

David Tardon dtar...@redhat.com changed:

   What|Removed |Added

 CC||dtar...@redhat.com

--- Comment #1 from David Tardon dtar...@redhat.com ---
(In reply to comment #0)
We currently download almost all 3rd party source tarballs even when they
 are not used.

One solution is to define tarball names as configure variables and define
them only when needed. This approach is already used for some extensions.

It is also used for all gbuildified external modules.

$ grep @ ooo.lst.in | wc -l
68

Another solution would be to improve the download script and support some
simple syntax in the ooo.lst. module, e.g:

   7376930b0d3f3d77a685d94c4a3acda8-STLport-4.5-0119.tar.gz if
 @BUILD_STLPORT@ == yes

I do not think this is a good idea.

I prefer the second solution because it is handy to have list of all 3rd
party modules in one place ooo.lst.in file. In addition, it is easier to
update the version in this short file. Finally, we should touch configure.in
only when we want to change the logic of the checks. It helps with
cherry-picking fixes for different LO releases.

I agree that the a variable set in configure.in approach is not ideal, but at
least it means the tarball name only needs to be changed in one place. In the
previous state of affairs the name was hardcoded in ooo.lst.in _and_ in the
module's makefile.mk (split into two parts--the upstream tarball name and the
md5 hash).

There is a third possible solution: to have all the download information
directly in the external modules. My preferred format for that is 2 files for
every tarball in a module:
* tarball.md5 for the name and md5 (in fact, output of md5sum tarball)
* tarball.url for source URL. This file should be optional for the default
URL (http://dev-www.libreoffice.org/src).

This would need a change to the tooling, of course, but I think it would be
easier to use in the end.

Original document

In LibreOffice 3.4.5, Debian package version 1:3.4.5-2 on amd64 arch, I created
a fresh new document, and typed some text in English. Saved as .doc
(XP/2000/2003), emailed to another person.

That person opened this .doc in Microsoft Word 2010 Hebrew edition, then copied
(from same Word) hebrew text from another document into this document. The
hebrew text appeared as empty rectangles instead of Hebrew characters. The
status line (bottom of the window) indicates MS Word treats it as text in
Hindi.
When using special paste and chosing RTF text or HTML text or plain
text or unicode plain text, it gets pasted correctly as Hebrew characters.

There is probably a Microsoft Word bug there (pasting from Word to Word should
just work), but if we can avoid triggering it, that would be better.

Opened a fresh MSWord window, typed some Hebrew.

Copy/paste into the document exported from LibreOffice shows same behaviour.

So problem is not specific to the source document, but indeed specific to the
destination document.

Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de changed:

   What|Removed |Added

Version|3.5.4 release |3.5.4 RC1

--- Comment #39 from Roman Eisele b...@eikota.de ---
New research results:

This bug appears *first* in LibreOffice 3.5.4.1
(= RC1, build ID: 7306755-f4f605c-738527d-1cf4bc1-9930dc8).

It is *not* in LibreOffice 3.5.3.2
(Build ID: 235ab8a-3802056-4a8fed3-2d66ea8-e241b80):
in all 3.5.x versions until and including 3.5.3.2, slide sorting still works
(mostly ;-) correctly, both in the slide sorter and in the left panel, when I
test with attachment 63289.

So this bug was not (as I always wrongly assumed: sorry for not testing this
earlier!) introduced somewhere in the 3.5 development process, but precisely
between the branching of 3.5.3 and the first RC build of 3.5.4.1. This should
it make much easier to find the root of this regression.

@ Thorsten Behrens, Rodo, Muthu Subramanian, and maybe others:

Could you please check the (not too lengthy) list of commits between the
branching of 3.5.3 and the first RC of of 3.5.4.1? Somewhere there in the
committs made to the 3.5/3.5.4 branch must be the root of this regression;
and if you can identify it there, it should be possible to fix it on the
3.6.x and Master branches.

Thank you very much!

Changing the header and footer, for example in the Berlin 2012 template does
not result in an automatic update of the slide. You somehow need to manually
force a repaint and an update of the object to see the change.

This is very misleading when you think that the footer has not been updated.

 Still exists in 3.6.3.1

Dmitry, thank you very much for your testing results! If this bug is still
reproducible in 3.6.3.1, it is really independent from bug 54862.

Can you please explain in some detail (best: step by step!) what you did to
reproduce this bug in 3.6.3.1? And on which Platform (Linux, ...) did you
reproduce it? Thank you in advance!

avoid recursion that can mess up DND setup (fdo#41996)

The way too smart ctor for the DND handler started drag immediately,
causing a race condition that could recurse to setting a handler
again before the first one was actually set, thus immediately again
causing the DND to be stopped, and then possibly later again started,
depending on how the race condition turned out. Use delayed initialization
to avoid this.

Steps how to reproduce with parallel installation of Master LOdev
3.7.0.0.alpha0+ - ENGLISH UI / German Locale [Build ID: 747ecb]
{tinderbox: @16, pull time 2012-10-08 09:46:32} on German WIN7 Home Premium
(64bit) with separate User Profile for Master Branch:

11. open a new Spreadsheet document from LibO start center
12. Type an x ax contents to cell A1
13. Menu 'File → Save As – Save with Password → “sample.ods as file name
Save
14. PW “X” (also for confirmation) ok
15. Menu 'Tools → Share Document → Check “Share this document”
16. Answer “The spreadsheet must be saved ...” with Yes
17. Menu 'File → Close
  Closes Document, Start center Appears
18. Menu 'File → Recent Documents → “sample.ods”
opens document after password input with “... document is in shared mode
…
19. Type a “y” to cell A2 Enter
20. Menu 'File → Close'
Expected: Question “Document has been modified, should I save”, then save
  “sample.ods”
Actual: some strange short flickering on screen, same when yuo click
save icon

Unfortunately it's impossible to unshare the document, but you can save it
with new name, what works fine, and then also unshare works again.

Because of this easy workaround and because I do not believe that many users
share password protected documents I think this one is less than critical.

Already [Reproducible] with Server installation (own profile) of LibreOffice
3.5.6.2 German UI/Locale [Build-ID: e0fbe70-5879838-a0745b0-0cd1158-638b327]
on German WIN7 Home Premium (64bit)

Already reproducible with 3.4.1.1 RC, seems the bug appeared with 3.4?

Still worked fine with Server Installation of LibreOffice 3.3.3 German
UI/Locale [OOO330m19 (Build:301) tag libreoffice-3.3.3.1] on German WIN7 Home
Premium (64bit)

@Bartosz Bartczak:
If you find evidence that this might affect many users (I doubt for this old
bug) please feel free to add this one to the MAB bracking bug 6 following

It may be related to another problem I know of:

- Normally when you start Impress you always get the taskpane on the right
side. It is possible to move the taskbar but not to make impress not start it.
Does that bar still starts on your impress?

- Can you provide your profile/libreoffice/3/user/registrymodifications.xcu.
In linux your profile is on /home/user/.config.

  Reporter: andis.lazd...@gmail.com

Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.5.7.2 rc
 Component: Libreoffice

When I tried to open large Microsoft office files (in my case 15 MB+, probably
smaller also) with LibreOffice 3.5.7.2 (Build ID:
3215f89-f603614-ab984f2-7348103-1225a5b, OS Ubuntu linux), ASCII filter options
to import text file appears. And, of course, no file opens. It happens even if
I save that file in microsoft format using Libreoffice.

I'm sure this error appeared some time ago, in one of previous versions, and
then it was solved in 3.5.5 or 3.5.6, but it is back again, but unfortunately I
couldn't find it in bugzilla.

This is quite terrible bug and I'm sure that the solution should be easy as it
was done already once few months ago.

I attached a docx document (created with Word 2003) which consists of one large
table with some random text data of a few hundred sides. If tried to open this
document with LibreOffice writer, writer runs indefinitely with 100% CPU. The
same document saved as doc does open, still it needs some minutes to open.

So this would mean not only to have a FindReplace key shortcut in
Customize Keyboard Edit, but also one for Find and another one for
Replace - these two only working as long as the FindReplace Dialog is open.

This is not specific for Mac so I changed the platform to All

In opposite to Robert I used bases own format dialogs Language and Format
selector (cf screenshot Screenshot GBP in base table). It can be found if you
click the tree dots besides the format display in bases field edit dialog.

Opened and closed a test file several times - no change in the format I chose.
So far, I cannot reproduce this bug. Perhaps you want to describe more
precisely what you did to get the error (i. e. which of those possible format
settings/dialogs you worked with) and/or provide an example file?

Test data to reproduce the Errors

Terms:
- Autofilter (AF)
- Standard Filter (SF)

Please do the following:

* load Test.ODS:

ZeileWert_1Wert_2
11a
21b
31c
42a
52b
62c
73a

only the first creteria from AF is passed to SF

It should read:

* click Wert_2 / AF ; click Standard Filter ... and look at the creteria:
Wert_1 = 1
AND Wert_2 = b

only the first AF-creteria from each column is passed to SF
OR-Creteria and brackets!!! are not considered about.
So this should read without brackets

Wert_1 = 1
AND Wert_2 = b
OR Wert_1 = 1
AND Wert_2 = c
OR Wert_1 = 2
AND Wert_2 = b
OR Wert_1 = 2
AND Wert_2 = c

[maybe somebody can think about introducing brackets, then we would get:
(Wert_1 = 1 OR Wert_1 = 2) AND (Wert_2 = b OR Wert_2 = c) ]

add missing lines to SF ; click ok

ZeileWert_1Wert_2
21b
31c
52b
62c
(this is ok)

* click Wert_1 / AF and look at the checkboxes
only [1] is checked ; 2 is missing!!

  click ok

ZeileWert_1Wert_2
21b
31c
52b
62c
(this is wrong!)

Either [2] should be checked or this should read:

ZeileWert_1Wert_2
21b
31c

* click Wert_2 / AF and look at the checkboxes
only [b] is checked ; c is missing!!
the same like above-

--- end of test ---

please check filter syntax
thank you!

I am having problems upgrading LibreOffice 3.6.1 to 3.6.2. The operating system
is Windows 7. The installation Wizard fails gives the following error message:

The Following applications are using files that need to be updated by this
setup. Close these applications and click retry to continual.

Intel(R) Dynamic Application Loader Host Interface Service Intel(R) Management
and Security Application User Notification Service.

I have rebooted the PC and have uninstalled LibreOffice 3.6.1. The problem
still persists.

I can reinstall LibO_3.6.1_Win_x86_install_multi with no problems. I believe
this is because it doesn't change any files.

LibO_3.6.2_Win_x86_install_multi fails every-time. I also tried to downgrade to
version 3.5.7. I get the same error.

I got around the problem by temporarily stopping the two services, Control
Panel – Administrative Tools - Services

I checked to see if this error was previously reported to Bugzilla, I haven't
found anything. But, I may have missed it.

LibreOffice .odg file giving examples of the behaviour described

Maybe this is a feature rather than a bug, but it doesn't seem right.

I create a rectangle in LibreOffice Draw, then create a text box of the same
size to sit on top of it. If I then type a series of non-wrapped lines into
the text box, and afterwards centre the entire text, the text will be centred
both within the text box and the rectangle. Good: that's as intended.

If, however, I type a long piece of text into the text box, which wraps within
its fixed width, and again centre the text afterwards, the text will be
off-centre to the left. It looks to me as though the longest fragment of text
is locked to the left-hand edge of the text box, and the rest of the text in
the box is centred according to that. Not good; but the text box can be moved
to make the text properly centred within the rectangle, so it's not a disaster.

One step further: if I take the text from the second case above, and *insert*
line breaks in order to make each line fit within the width of the text box,
then the text stays centred as before. Very idiosyncratic, and not very
intuitive.

I attach a LibreOffice .odg file which shows these three cases.

I am using 3.4.4 OOO340m1 (Build:402), running it on Linux Mint Lisa (kernel
3.0.0-12-generic.

Summary|FILESAVE =long time while |Make record/track changes
   |recording changes |in Writer more efficient

--- Comment #7 from stfhell stfh...@googlemail.com ---
I am reopening this bug because the problem is there, actually. I'm aware that
there is no easy solution for it and that one has to be prepared to go on
living with the issue for still a while, but it _is_ a problem for some usage
scenarios.

Problem:
If you edit a large document in Writer (200+ pages) and use the record/track
changes function (redlining) a lot to have revisions recorded, Writer will
become more and more inefficient to work with due to the growing number of
revisions recorded.

(1) Disabling show changes is explicitly discouraged by LO (the dialogue that
says: Hiding changes makes everything slow, would you not rather prefer to show
them again?) because hiding changes makes editing a pain in larger documents.

(2) Saving a file takes _much_ longer (rough guess: 3-10 times) with many
changes recorded - and, I'm sorry, you cannot discuss that away with a Comment
#2 like, Hey, 18 secs to save is not that long, and you can go and have a cup
of coffee while LO is saving. Saving is not done in the background, and you
have to wait for it to finish. And this does not only concern regular file
saves via Ctrl-S, but also the auto-saves, of course. (And you need auto-save!)

(3) For some reason, normal text editing isn't slowed down that much, but
inserting a new paragraph is excessively so. Depending on the number of
recorded changes, it can take 5-10 seconds to have it inserted. Interestingly,
it's much faster to do the same thing by using the clipboard: Copy an empty
paragraph and insert it where you want a new paragraph instead of hitting
Return.

Of course, all this concerns only people who edit large texts (200+ pages) and
actually use record changes heavily (say, some hundreds of changes in the
doc). But if this scenario covers your usage of LO, you _do_ have a problem.
You have to split the document in 50-page units or disable record changes as
much as possible.

I think, with modern hardware in mind, editing a 400-page document with 10
recorded changes per page should be possible without a word processor becoming
virtually unusable. But it's probably more of an enhancement than a bug...

Confirmed, this is a weird one ;) Thanks for reporting. Confirming as a bug
just because it should be consistent, if this was done on purpose it probably
shouldn't have been as charts with a similar mean line should have an identical
mean line.

Marking as NEW and prioritizing.

Minor -- does not prevent high quality work, just a visual/aesthetic thing

Lowest -- Easy to still understand the graph, doesn't even really feel like a
flaw, just inconsistency that you can see if you compare different kinds of
charts. Most users (assumed) wouldn't even notice this, and even if they did
they wouldn't stop using mean line because of this.

Potential easy hack. Marking as such

This is not a bug. What you have to do is:

Ctrl + F

Then click on the magnifying glass/pencil icon in the find toolbar. This will
bring up the find replace dialog.

Click on More Options

Then you can change the search in option from Formulas to Values (or Notes).
If you change to Values it will correctly find the value 6 and ignore the
formula.

This isn't a bug. MS Office Access is incredibly interdependent with MS Office.
If anything this is a bug with Microsoft, they created a product which is
pretty much impossible (maybe not impossible but incredibly time consuming,
probably impossible on Linux, maybe even Mac), to make cross-compatible with
LibO (or any other office suite).

Marking this as NOTOURBUG as I seriously think it is a bug with Microsoft
Office, they could have made a product that didn't depend on Windows platform
so much but, they didn't.

This is an unfortunate reality. Please check this out for some suggestions on
how to get the data into database:

Normal: Prevents users from making high quality work in some cases. For users

@Joel,

I don't understand your arguments. When LO (under Windows) seems to have a
driver to connect to MS Access, and this driver doesn't work - why is this a
bug of MS Access?

There are some other reports for databases, created with Access and later
connected with Base:
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53070
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43187
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=43227
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53080
... I have no Windows-system here. So I can't connect to an existing
Access-database. But in LO-Windows-versions it seems to be possible. Please
read the steps to reproduce, as reported by Soon.

I change the Status to unconfirmed, because there must be someone, who could
test it with Windows and LO 3.6.1 or 3.6.2.
